5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all.
I've been moaning to myself for the last few days about the number of mosquitoes in my flat, but discovered today that there are far more worrying things that can fly in - namely a wood pigeon that totally misjudged the length of my garden and flew in through the open patio door! After some panicky flapping and a close encounter with the closed part of the door, it escaped and seems to be fine, with just a bruised beak and some loss of pride to show for its adventure!
1) NSD and NPD.
2) Lots and lots more yellow thing.
3) A great day of sport - a very exciting grand prix (although perhaps a little too exciting for the poor cameraman knocked over by a flying tyre ) then an even more exciting tennis match - way to go, Andy! :j
4) Confessed to my DM that I miscalculated the cost of the hotel for next weekend and it will actually be an extra £20 each, and, while slightly miffed, she's not too cross with my dreadful mathematical ability.£40 a night's still pretty good, by my reckoning.
5) Easy dinner tonight, as it's a bit warm for cooking - a veg curry from the freezer with some feta crumbled over the top to jazz it up a bit, with some HM garlic bread left over from last night's BBQ.
Hope everyone's had a lovely, sunny day.Back after a very long break!0 -
CCP, to deter mossies / flies, olbas oil on a tissue or alikes and / or lavender works a treat.
For yesterday loads just loads of pleasures
1. We didn’t wake up to the alarm, and just pondered about, spending time with the animals, did a tiny bit of tidying up and relaxed. After looking up that shops were open till 9pm, We decided to do a date night!!! I popped online and booked late night tickets to Despicable Me2 over in Thurrock and at about 4pm we were over the bridge. As we were going through the crossing I suddenly thought we are never over here lets pop into the approved food equiv they have and came out loaded with things, we bought a crate of 24 tango cans with a year on the date to go for £4, 2 sharwood wrap pack things, for 30p each both have 2 months left on the date, and then also did a CCP moment with plants lots of plants. A big pot / bush of rosemary, a fig tree, 2 purple “plants” for beside the pond, and a purple buddleia. :rotfl:I dread to think how much it would have cost from a garden centre but everything above came to but each plant was about £2 /3 each.:j
2. Not MSE but a pleasure, we stopped in at a costa which was deserted and had a milk shake type thing which was lovely.
3. Then pondered around various shops window shopping. Then the 99p shop provided us with our next bag of goodies, some usb type leads, while I was waiting for him to choose I picked up a book called chocolate wrapped, it is a total history of chocolate and its ingredients and affects and I was hooked, 8 bird balls, a couple of cheat korma sauces and crisps.
4. We headed off for a bite to eat in Eds Diner, and I was loaded with vouchers we each had a voucher for a free loaded burger, DH had a voucher for a free massive milkshake, which was big enough for both of us, so the bill came to 2 portions of chips… :beer:The scarey thing the chap was saying no one ever uses the vouchers that are emailed, he said ours where the first there and have had them for about 3 months as we don’t go over there often.
5. With time to kill so meandered around all of the shops, and the Debenhams blue cross sale was great, DH found me 2 maxi dresses with 70% off.:p
6. A cinema voucher bought us munchies and drinks and we had a good laugh and came out with big smiles on our faces and that is what made it all worth it.:T
The journey back was entertaining as they had shut the Dartford crossing completely, the diversion was to the blackwall tunnel, we got there just in time as they were also shutting the blackwall tunnel at 1am, then the diversion became to tower hill! I really dislike driving in London and admit the tom tom was a life saver.
For Today
1. Several loads of washing done and line dried.
2. All of the plants above are ensconced in the garden.
3. Lazed out in the sun, I am a very pale person I go only slightly less pale.:o
4. Did a fair bit of tidying and cleaning / fresh bedding etc:)
5. “Al fresco” dinner and a cider while watching the wildlife.:T0 -

What lovely days everyone had - amazing what a bit of yellow can do, Chris Martin was right.
Mine for yesterday
1. Woke up too early, I had decamped to the spare room as OH had had too much to drink and I was afraid that he might chuck up, also the snoring was shocking. Spare room is very light though but at least I had an hour or so internetting.
2. OH and I went to Birmingham as we had a bit of business to sort, then an hour's shopping for me - in a White Stuff sale  while he went to an organ recital, lunch in one of the smaller stations which has a rather quaint looking caf!. Had an iced latte - oh yum
3. Back to see Andy which was :T:T:T:T:T:T:j:j:j:j:eek::eek::eek::eek::(:(:( and finally
4. We had planned a bbq for the four of us and then found out that friend's daughter had broken her arm (whilst revising fractures!) so ended up feeding all 5 of them after they got home from A&E so, whilst it was a shame to have happened in those circumstances, it was nice to be able to help out and have an impromptu party!
5 The sun - sorry Mhags - but after last year it is so wonderful to feel that heat.
Have a fabulous day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Sunday pleasures
Up at early o'clock again....had a potter round kitchen.
Went for a Sunday scone , date one.
Then OH and I went to Healsville for a drive. It's a beautiful country town and had a market on, which we hadn't realised, it has lovely shops and cafes.
We walked into one shop, just for a look around, when the shop lady said....oooh , is that a strong man I see? ...so OH lifted a heavy mirror down off the wall for her, that she had just sold. She gave me 2 bars of beautiful handmade soap to say thank you!
Bought some lovey pât! in a lovely deli, we've been in before.
Then had the best BLT I've ever had and since we've moved here I've had a few!
The scenery on the drive there and back is stunning and enjoyed being the passenger and able to look out the window.
Had a baking fest when I came home...2 banana breads, vanilla bean scones, cranberry, white chocolate and coconut cookies, chocolate macarons, made nachos for tea.
Monday pleasures.....not really pleasurable but my mother phoned at 2.30 am , woke me up to tell me Andy Murray had won!! So joined OH who was watching the game and saw him get the trophy! Good lad
Then at a more decent hour but still early but no need to get up for work as on a day off I phoned my friend and had a nice chat with her.
Lay in bed and watched Casualty...such decadence.
Hung 3 loads of washing out...brought in damp but ironed and on the clothes horse.
Wandered up to fruit shop and bakers shop.
Had a Monday snooze and having returned a rubbish book it seems I've picked one up I've read before...very familiar but can't remember how it ends so will persevere !
CV updated and OH will print them out at work.
Making carrot and coriander soup for tea , it smells lovely.
Enjoy your sunshine UK people! We've been bright and sunny but brrrrr cold! Have a lovely Monday and celebrate Andy's win!0 -
I jinxed myself! My laptop broke so no posts over the weekend from me
hopefully OH can ressurect it.
lovefullshelves I think if you click on my username then the 'go to missmoneysave's home page' tab it should take you to it, that's if I've set it up right, I'm not the most technologically minded!
So a collection for the weekend.
1. Saturday evening spent out in the garden weeding whilst listening to a foo fighters tribute band play at a local festival. It was just loud enough to hear but not so loud that it was annoying.
2. Lunch on saturday and sunday with OH. I love just sitting and having a simple lunch together, doesn't have to be anything fancy, it's just nice to spend some time together especially now because we've been so busy with the house.
3. OH accidentally leaving the living room door wide open this morning and me waking up to find Ian the dog still on his basket in the kitchen as opposed to on the sofa or in my bed :rotfl: amazing progress for Ian as he has a terrible cheeky/naughty streak!
4. Mum and her partner calling round for a cuppa.
5. Discovering the local town has a b&m, home bargains and wilkinsons all alongside one another. Lots of bargains to be had :money:Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -
