Welcome (if a little late) twistedhazel
Frith good idea, I think I'll buy ex OH a clip on ;)
mhags/vjsmum another Francophile here, wonderful memories of hols to Le Puy and Lac de Saint-Cassien, and our wee gite near Agen which I will go back to, one day..
BoP sunshine duly meted out in small portions throughout the day.

    1. Needed to go back to the shop I bought the dresses from on Tuesday, only to find they have everything on sale now so checked they still have the dresses in my size, which they do, and tomorrow I'll be returning the two I bought and get them in the sale for £18 less :D
    2. Tennis :T
    3. First time this year it's been warm enough for a cool shower. If the forecast is right there'll be a few more to come, which will save hot water
    4. Postie brought me some vouchers from a survey site
    5. Changed my mind about going to meet T.B about a hundred times, but working on the theory that the things you look forward to least usually turn out well, I didn't cancel but went along with the intention of having a cup of tea and chat - we got thrown out of the tea room at closing time! :o. He's away this weekend then I'm away next week, so we're going out for dinner when we're both back home :). Not going to get starry-eyed, far too old for that, suffice to say he's really very pleasant, interesting and I enjoyed his company. Never thought I'd say that about someone plays the ukelele but there's a lot more to him than that which I'll tell you about if there's another date ;)

    Sweet dreams :)

    Oooo, Sparrer! :-)

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons had a good day at school.

    3) Prepared today's dinner plus chilli for tomorrow and jelly sitting in the fridge.

    4) Took sons to have their hair cut. :-/ Smaller son pretty good and now has very short hair. He even had the clippers at the back! Bigger son had a freakout afterwards (his hair still pretty long) and apparently wished he could be adopted. Took him quite a while to settle down.

    5) Popped in to the strawberry fields on the way home.

    6) All went swimming with my brother. They took some more film on the ipod.

    7) Tasty tea with trout, potato salad and peas then strawberries!

DD - might be a bit early for that. I remember a few days after my auntie was widowed one of her sisters said she should try internet dating. If it wasn't so  it would have been :rotfl:. No wonder they never got on that well. When mum told me I was, literally, speechless and, as you might imagine, that doesn't happen often. :p
Frith - my DS is currently freaking out cos he's got the dentist tonight. He chippped his front tooth a couple of years ago and they are now threatening to crown it, so not nice but he has it all out of proportion. If it is just for cosmetic reasons, I will postpone it.
Sparrer - glad the date went well with [STRIKE]George for[/STRIKE] your gentleman friend ;)

    Yesterdays pleasures

    1. Very little traffic as I drove into work. Work is a bit Marie Celeste at the moment which meant I got stuff done
    2. Bored more people about Glasto :p I am sure there will be someone saying "For god's sake don't ask her, she won't shut up about it if you do" :rotfl:
    3. Beautiful roses and other flowers in the gardens as I walked home from the station
    4. Got the shopping done while DS was at footie training, using my £5 off Ald! voucher
    5. QUick fish fingers for tea - DS had "yellow" dinner - fish fingers chips and corn

    Have a wonderful day, all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Well hurrah for Friday

Hurrah for a day off work....even though I woke up at silly o'clock! Got up and phoned my letter writing friend ....as its my turn to write and I haven't so we had a good blether instead.

Tidied the kitchen and washed the downstairs floors.

Had to fast for blood tests...ouch and then went for a Friday scone....hurrah! Sat in front of the log fire, read the papers and enjoyed an apricot scone.

Did our shopping....came in at half of what last weeks was!

Popped into local shopping centre as I had a $10 voucher for another supermarket, got hellmans mayo...only place I know that stocks it here and blooming expensive ! , some sweet chilli sauce and a box of chocolate cookies...had $1 to pay.

Went to our nice friendly jewellers to buy 2 pandora beads for girls Christmas and they had 20% off....so that was handy!

Home for a couple of hours and read for a while ...strange book not sure if I'll persevere with it, then OH and I went out for a very late lunch. Up in the hills ,way out in the country we found a lovely restaurant who very kindly still served us lunch. A party of about 15 people were in....with speeches etc going on and then.......to the accompaniment of an accordion and a ukulele .....the strains of AC/DC started....they started singing a song to ' it's a long way to the top ' replacing their own lyrics! Then to Dolly Parton's 'Jolleen' they replaced Irene!! It was Irene's leaving do!

Waitress apologised , we were fine....enjoying our lunch and the stunning views and the log fire......we ordered coffee and hot chocolate and were told they were on the house for the disturbance! So that was nice.

A beautiful view with the prettiest red parrots and then some buzzards away above the fields .

Came home and ironed whilst listening to radio 2 . 2 loads hung on line and dried, which surprised me as it was so bloomin' cold but windy!

Made bacon butties for kids tea as we were stuffed.

Email from work ....a leaving night out is being organised and funded by work ( probably from the tips that we never see!) and a touching message about how much I'll be missed! Wonder if they'll serenade me!

The only bad part was some old(er) lady reversing into our car in the capark at mall......she had just stopped in the middle of car park....seemingly waiting for a space that wasn't there . By this time about 8 cars behind us and 1 to the side waiting for her to move.....she did move , only backwards straight into our bumper.....we kept thinking ' er, surely you'll stop missus! ' however she didn't and bump! Then drove off!
She did stop and said we hadn't been there when she started reversing....er, yes we were and about another 10 cars by this time! Anyway no obvious damage other than to OHs mood and off she went quite unperturbed ! The registration plate is a little bashed but that's all and at least as she was reversing over a speed bump wasn't going at speed!

I hope you all have as nice a day as I have...hope it's a bit warmer with you than here!

Hi All, haven't been around for a while, been busy sorting the house, the boiler broke twice and the day we got the hot water working again was the day the bath leaked through to the living room! It never rains, it pours (right through the ceiling into the living room ;))

Anyway, that's all out the way now and the house is pretty much sorted, until the next thing goes wrong! So I can start focusing on the kind of lifestyle I want to live.

1.I started a blog, I've always wanted to write but I won't let people read anything I've written through fear of humiliation but i'll never be the next J.K Rowling with that attitude so I figured I'd bite the bullet and jump in! I've also signed up to Textbroker.

    2. Gardening, I've never done it before as we only had a small concrete square for a garden at our last place. I love getting my hands dirty and pulling weeds is soooo therapeutic.

    3. First mortgage payment, that might seem like an odd pleasure but it felt special and I loved watching the amount go down online. I feel I may get a bit overexcited about overpayments.

    4. Back in the habit of 'real' cooking, I've missed pottering in the kitchen and regular food shopping.

    5. Painted my outdoor craft room (an insulated shed) it looks lovely, I can't wait to get everything set up and start crafting.

I'm thinking of selling my makes online- does anyone have any experience of MISI or Folksy, I can't decide which one I would prefer to sell with?

mms - what an exciting time you're having - shame it's not exciting in a good way! :( Hope everything stays running properly now.

sparrer - glad you had such a nice time. :)

    1) As I was getting dressed this morning I heard an odd rustling noise from someone / something out in the garden. I flung the curtains open (once dressed, obviously!), expecting to find a neighbour's cat out there, only to find two rather startled blackbird fledglings looking back at me! I've now made my garden a bargain blackbird haven, with some dried mealworms (bought half-price) and an old plant saucer rinsed out and filled with water to act as a bird bath. :D

    2) Thanks, BoP - yellow thing all present and correct. :)

    3) I was glad that the first tennis semi-final ran on because it meant I could watch Murray in the second semi, then even more glad as it meant I could watch the last set and a half of a truly stunning game of tennis. (Sorry, Chicken - only two more days to go then we'll all stop wittering on about this stupid sport. :o)

    4) After a few days with no real appetite I've started feeling hungry again, and am really looking forward to my dinner of falafel (from a packet, but an AF packet so that's pretty OS), feta salad and pitta breads.

    5) Finally - after working my way through half a dozen packets - working out why the falafel mix was on AF in the first place: the instructions on the box tell you to add ten times the correct amount of water. That shows how much attention I pay to the instructions... :o

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
