VJsmum - ISIHAC is back! 3 times I have put it on iplayer last thing at night to listen to in bed. I haven't stayed awake til the end yet! (I think its the hayfever tablets).

Sparrer - glad bigger son only has a clip on tie for school. Ooo, and hope Mr Bundy is nice!

CCP - also enjoyed the tennis here, smaller son is really getting into it.

DD - the worst thing I have trodden on (apart from a bee which stung me) is a slug! We get quite a few in the house downstairs and it is quite repulsive if you stand on one heavily. Its like the worst glue to wash off. And I also need a piano tuner.

Kittikins - very glad to hear dd had a good day at her new school.

Ampersand- we keep getting rogue holly trees in both the front and back gardens. There is no holly tree within sight!

    Pleasures for yesterday (Wednesday).

    1) Not a bad sleep. Smaller son has slept through, in his own bed, for 3 nights in a row!

    2) Booked them on to another course (pond dipping) spurred on by my success with getting them places on the first one.

    3) Tidied up in the garden a bit, tied up sweet peas again and tightened all the screws in the wobbly bench.

    4) Went geocaching just a couple of miles away. Needed the walk. Took some hummus and avocado sandwiches with me and cherries.

    5) Smaller son very happy with his new kindle. He read Charlie and the Chocolate factory for HOURS!

    6) Tasty curry for tea.

    7) Enjoyed watching Andy Murray match.

    8) Spent most of the evening finishing a Marian Keyes book I picked up at the charity shop.

    1. mhags - I'm listening and swaying to Tour de France replay as I type, loving the accordion intro music and today rode with them through my places, Brignoles for starters. And my heart constricts, my throat tightens, I swallow hard but cannot help my aching longing spilling over. This was in the gap before Andy's match.

Knew I recognised the name Brignoles - we once had a fab holiday at a small village nearby called Cotignac. It was beautiful. I love France, going back in 3 weeks to the Pyrennees and then the Lot, finishing up in Disneyland (it was the only way we could convince DD she wanted to come!). Can't wait.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Oh I just love France, we used to holiday at least once a year and sometimes twice....all done very mse'ly!
I love the bread, the butter, the pain au chocolat, the cheese ( but not the smelly stuff ) the lavender , the sunshine, the thunderstorms, the long lazy lunches , sunflowers and really just everything!

Anyway, I've had another good day at work! Manager was off, my nemesis was in a good mood as she goes on holiday tomorrow , more customers were sad I was leaving and I still know that I've done the right thing!
Everyone wants to know why I'm going and there's not really one reason just lots of reasons. I'm not goin to start name calling to customers.

I had such a crappy year last year with OH being ill ( understatement!) and it was easy enough just to go in to work day in and day out and go through the motions of the working day without over thinking everything. I had spoken to manager ( who I do like as a person just quite often he is a very stressed out little man who speaks his mind without thinking of whether he's causing offence. We find Australians very straight and to the point and they just say what they're thinking!) at Christmas and told him I was leaving and here I was 6 months on still miserable!

Had a meeting with the owner to discuss the transfer of my knowledge!
He shouted me a late lunch :) asked him for a reference and he said he would personally go and speak to whoever wanted me!

    Watched Holby .

It is incredibly wild and windy right now and was wild through the night. No rain as yet just high winds. DD hung the washing out for me so it had a good blow.

Quote of the day .....we had no electricity from 8.30am-4pm today as a planned works was taking place , had told kids to make sure everything was charged before it went off and I'd put the Washing on before I left for work. Anyway ,I'd called DD1 to say I was running late from work having a meeting with owner and asked what she'd done today....her reply was ' lived the life of an Amish girl'

Whilst driving home the most stunning sight ahead of me, the sky was so stormy and dark but the sun was shining on the eucalyptus trees which were blowing in the wind and it was just beautiful.

A customer had said last week she had something in her office for me....today she remembered to bring it in.
It is ( we think!) a tea cosy but made from fine cream linen and beautifully embroidered with flowers and the words " Frae ( meaning from) Bonnie Scotland. It's very old and pretty....not sure what I'll do with it...we did suggest some silly things. It was either her mothers or grandmothers and has been in a box in storage for over 10 years.

Gosh another long post! Have a lovely day....enjoy your puppies DD
Just watch where you put your feet!

    Afternoon

Bit late posting but yesterdays pleasures are,
    1. Managed to get a doctors appointment, had my inhaler use reviewed and need to use them daily (boo) and I am definelty perimenopausal (sp) another boo and hiss but at least it explains my rather erratic mood swings of late. Good news for OH and DD, this can last upto 10 years :o. The pleasure in all this is our wonderful NHS sorting me out and making me feel better about myself.
    2. Bumped into neighbour whilst at doctors and he will keep an eye on the house while we are away and put the bins out for us.
    3. Inlaws sent some Euros over for DD, means less that I have to give her.
    4. Treat myself to a cake after doctors, yummy
    5. Popped into Mr.T to pick something up for holiday and lots of lovely reductions so got a few bits for the freezer. Also meant OH got loin of lamb for dinner which he loves but I refuse to buy as so expensive normally.

Hugs to all who need them.
Sparrer - Hope you enjoyed your hot date
Skint - Is it your birthday? If so happy birthday

    Evening all.

sparrer - hope you had a lovely day out today.

    1) LSD - just a cucumber as I fancied some to go with my lunch.

    2) A couple of nice customer service encounters, even if one was prompted by blue, furry tomatoes in my veg box (quite patriotic, but not very nice!). _pale_

    3) The yellow thing has made an appearance! :j

    4) A very quiet day at work so I spent the afternoon putting together my meal plan and listening to the tennis, although the tennis was slightly spoiled as my computer was obviously a bit slow - a colleague called out "she's done it!" just as Lisicki went to serve. She did, too. ;)

    5) My new solar garden lights have arrived and I've put them outside - I'm now actually looking forward to it getting dark so I can see how they look. :)
Back after a very long break!

Sparrer: Hope you had a lovely time.
CCP: Out of curiosity, where did you get your solar lights from I was just looking for some last night.

We are considering getting rid of Sky now we have freesat/view and I would take out a subscription to a movie place to get my movies, just wondered if anyone on here had done similar??

    2. If I can ever be ar- bothered to move I will make a pasta bake.:p
    3. Mesmerised by the garden candles
    4. Desert will be pleasure, strawberries / rtc choc mousse thing and 10p cream / oh dear....:o:o
    Can't think of a 5th I'll roll it over to the weekend.:rotfl:

PK - I got mine from Amaz0n - these ones, in fact.

I know it's not a subscription service, which is what you were asking about, but avoid Blinkbox if you do decide to try it: their service quality / reliability and customer service are both dreadful.

    1. I'm just in, de-grised at College Salon, red streak still in situ. Caped up and ready to roll, asked 'Please may I pop out to car for The Wireless?', so I could hear semi-s. Mais Oui Madame, was gist of reply. I definitely looked like One Running a Stick on Railings, vjm, as I couched speaky box by ear, turning it this way and that to overcome much interference in those surroundings. Flipkens gave Bartoli her absolute due in post-match i/v, which doesn't help make Bartoli liked, but she played a blinder by sounds of things.

    2. Horror and sci-fi are absolutely not my genres. Was about to leave R4 when sth about 'Arthur Machen, horror writer' was announced, too early for wimbo. No Thankyou, thought I, only to hear the magic name of Horatio Clare as presenter...and there began a half-hour of pure exquise. In another of my lives, The One had such a voice, those melting tones, that mellifluous flow of language and unique, beautiful, extraordinary play of words. Words and voices will ever be two main & things.

    3. Rather late brekkie was hier's h/m CAKE, 2 pieces, with a defiant So There. Defence: healthy apples, iron-rich sultanas, nextdoor's eggs, President butter and Prince Charles' milk, both very rtc it has to be said. With new Millicano coffee and fledglings for company[well-fed beforehand], all was vvvg.

    4. College to P&R to Grand Arcade, having bitten bullet for printer ink and checked online. JL were best on price, even against [STRIKE]generics[/STRIKE]..hold on, should have written 'compatibles' - happens increasingly I notice. Lisicki and Radwanska[do I hear a chicken yawn?]were a set apiece and another chap and I then captivated the shop floor with our expert running commentary, considered judgments, impartiality HA! - we swung with every point, and checked closing time was 6pm, which WAS long enough. We had a glorious time and I even remembered the ink.

    5. Can't match your 10p, pk, but used a '50p off £2 dairy' voucher on way back, against 6 rtc creams. Means each 500ml pot is about 27p as near as. That'll do. Okay for freezer too.

    6. Look at me stopping at 5...:D Must be a 1st. To mhags the wearing of the Post Mantle today and terrific it is to see the relief, the happy ease with which she does. Long may it continue. Won't even 'What sort of time do you call this?' to see if sparrer's in before curfew...Hope you've had a really lovely day.

Thanks bop and all who put their money in the meter. Yellow Thing shone @14.43 through College Salon windows. I pointed. Said 'Look, Yellow Thing, at last!' and everyone did.
Très bonne anniversaire skint, if it is so.

Any news Sparrer, was he lovely? Hope so x But if not, at least you would have been able to look at lovely flowers and things :)

    1. Sunshine :)

    2. Playing in the park with DD after school :)

    3. Watching a massive steam engine roll on to the field as part of the village fayre preparations :)

    4. Bumped into chums on the way to the park - will miss that kind of thing as we're moving to a village with no shops, pubs etc...

    5. Got a load more junk sorted for the car boot sale - but think I will need to do another after this as doubt I can get it all in 2 cars, along with 5 people!!

    6. I've filled out the forms for DD's new school.

    7. I've contacted a piano teacher for DD. Will work out how to pay for it later....lol.

    8. Hoorah! I received a chunk of money (well, enough to pay off my credit cards which were starting to worry me) from tax credits, which I'm presuming is last year's catch up payment from when they incorrectly told me to naff off. A big relief....

    9. Just back from a lovely time at my church home group - and a delicious piece of strawberry cake, nomnom.
