I've always wanted to go to Glastonbury, VJsmum. Its one of the things I associate with my birthday (as it is always on at that time).
Good for you, MHags! I imagine you'll be glad to see the back of that place.
PK - had a look at the Welsh caf! website and was quite amused it is almost named after bigger son (who has the world's most Welsh name). Re: lamp holders - I save up the Patak's jars of curry paste and add wire to make tea light holders you can hang up. We have about 6 and they are just right for all the power cuts we have.
Hello, twistedhazel.
My pleasures for today. And some might even be MS!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got through to someone at the County Council and she has re-written smaller son's statement of SEN and it was supposed to be being checked by the manager of Special Education Services this afternoon. Then the head of the autism base has to read it and she will accept (or not) smaller son from September. The lady on the phone said it was "very likely" he will go there.
3) Phoned district council about sons going to a ranger's led event one day in the summer holidays. Couldn't sign up online as I had typed something in the disabilities box so they needed to talk to me over the phone. Anyway, they were not at all startled when they heard about smaller son so they will both be driven away in the ranger's Landrover to do some hiding, running about in the mud etc! These courses have always been great but sons are away for the usual one we do (survival - cooking on a campfire in the evening). Good value at £2.50 each.
4) Sister's stuff she asked me to Ebay has sold.
5) My "new" Ebay purse has arrived, FatFace originally. So I threw away the existing purse where almost every seam had split so my cards fell out everywhere each time I went in a shop!
5) Had lunch with mum and dad.
6) Got washing and tidying pretty much up to date.
7) Went to Sainsburys.
8) Smaller son's Kindle arrived. He has read half of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on it this evening, in bed with his new curtains closed.
9) Got Holby to watch and/or I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue to Listen to.
10) Nearly forgot, phoned NPower. I have a debt with them thanks to their muddling my bill up with next door's years ago and have nearly paid it all off! Only 3 months to go....0 -
Loving reading all your posts. Went to bed feeling rather flat then remembered i hadnt logged in.
Well done mhags life is too precious to waste on a job you hate

1) lovely walk to work albeit raining. I had my brolly
2) lunch with best friend and hugs. Hooray for hugs
3) puppies are fun, though did tread in a poo tonight bleuh
4) reading your posts
5) knowing the end of the marriage is the right thing

1. Enjoying various current commonalties - bacon sandwiches, fledglings, strawbs at various stages, flowers flowering, veg. talk[ancient loather of G. Wallace tho'], job sympathies, cack weather whinges, oh...and [STRIKE]looking forward to[/STRIKE]anticipating lfs marching up to my tastefully arranged:p area on Sunday with ma££ive loot from her matching veggie sales, moi, Lady&, having twiddled all road signs to a Norfolk point 25 miles from the nearest decent shops. Best produce in East Anglia so I've heard and Winner of this year's Golden Hoe. Some Measham bargeware?[bought today]or a couple of extraordinary inlaid 1940's iridescent butterfly wing trays?[ditto, not p.c. but they exist now and are fabulous], an interesting early sporting oil on board?[ditto]...
2. Grimly loathing back to jumper+cardie+scarf+hot drink comfort all day. Please, will all recalcitrants settle up with bop asap with their meter money. Must be in by w/e if yellow thing promises, promises are to come true.
3. No More Books yesterday included 1st edn h/b Prue Leith autobiography 'Relish - My Life on a Plate' @£land! Lively, crackles along, strongly written, extremely likable.
4. Postie brought Antiques FaIr docs for Sunday - WRONG KIND OF SPACE:eek: I need way more than a 2'6" x 6' table. Have paid for 5m x 10m furniture pitch. Phone not working for leaving msg. Have sent evidential email of all relevant prev. ref's and confirmations sent by them. No response so far.
5. Gripping, fantastic Ladies' Qtrs this arvo, each and every one. Have felt for Marion Bartoli in the past, regarded as odd within and without France, a bit like Cedric Pioline was in years past[for those of equally elephantine wimbo recall]. Her i/v response that 'I'm "not blond enough, not thin enough, not tall enough” for a clothing sponsor' was simply stated...and correct. I've seen her doggedly play great matches and Sloane Stevens will have her day.
6. Finished day as night fell with Mr T Finest 'Living Leaves' trug contents - [STRIKE]£3[/STRIKE] 49p rtc - gently teased out, planted in 4 troughs, hopefully to give me more than the single salad it was.
twistedhazel - great post and i.d., lovely to meet you. It's not a treadmill; just come and go as you can and please.
pk - Fans? Not moi dear. I've never been any kind of Everyone's Favourite Person. Some have that gift, I know. More awkward squad, me:D, but I have done some shredding...
vjm - can only tick 'all of the above' for everyone's reactions to your GLASTO weekend, clearly wonderful in every way. Thanks for such a full post. You'll be loving your own bed, nonetheless....approaching sign of wearing purple and a red hat that doesn't go:rotfl:

Oh well, thought I'd gone but find I'm still here. NZ friend skyped 'go to bed you naughty girl' and I'm never One to Do As Told. So, thought I'd half-inch one of bop's yellow thing w/e quota and Zap it to you, dd, in advance. Read your '3) puppies are fun, though did tread in a poo tonight bleuh ' and thought , 'At least you didn't slide and land in it' which once happened to me......CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

After a funny old day, it's been a real pleasure to come and read about everyone else's loveliness x
Thanks for the accounts of Glastonbury, being brave and true to yourself and giving in your notice.
Shame I'm not nearer to PK (although maybe not too far?) as I will have a fridge/freezer to get rid of in a couple of weeks - PM me if you're interested x0 -

Definitely - and run my stick along the railings and learn to spit
Thanks all. If anyone is thinking of going you need to register first and registration for next year is open now.
Welcome, twisted Hazel
Well done Mhags
DD - re your number 5. It's a good start, <<hugs>>
Frith - is ISIHAC back? Something to clean the bathrooms to then! Along with 4 Archers episodes
Chicken - I agree about class B's and associated stuff. Hope OH's job went well.
For yesterday
1. Woke up groggy after a v. deep sleep. Looked in the mirror and didn't recognise myself  Sunburned lips made my face all swollen, the pleasure is that it went down throughout the day and it made me laugh cos I was so freaked out.
2. Work was OK - had to invigilate an exam but without much to do I could catch up some MSE posts
3. Got home at a reasonable time as I'd forgotten my glasses and cheap poundshop ones will only do for a short while
4. OH made shepherds pie for tea - perfect on a wet chilly night
5. Strawberries from the garden.
Working at home today. there will be some work interspersed with getting the house straight.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning
VJSmum - Sounds like you had a great time at Glasto not sure I could do all the mud. Agree with you about Example he is a real showman, I have taken DD to see him before and was pleasantly suprised to find myself bouncing along with everyone else.
Mhagster - Well done on the job decision, being unhappy everyday just isn't worth it. Something will come along for you soon as you are too good to pass by.
DD - Hugs, even the right decisions can be hard
BoP - Have a couple of pound for the meter for the weekend even though I will be in sunny Portugal by then :j
Chicken - Hope OH's new job went well
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Treat myself to a few new bits for holiday and manged to use 2 vouchers to save a bit of money plus some bits were in the sale.
2. Packed lunches for everyone made before work
3. Mum and Dad arriving at their holiday destination safely. I worry about them when they travel these days but said everyone had been lovely and the hotel was nice so they should have a good week in the sunshine
4. Lovely C at work bought me some Strawberries and Cream as a thank you for helping her out yesterday. There was really no need for her to but they were yummy
5. DD getting her placement for next year and from the website it looks like a nice school and is an easy commute for her.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Trying a post from the iPad as the one from my laptop was swallowed up by a windows update....grrrrr!
Thank you to one and all for your kind words and encouragement .
Work was actually okay today as I know I don't have long to go. I feel a big weight of my weary shoulders . Told a few of my customers today one who is the ombudsman for uni has offered to give me a reference, which is so kind, another offered me a job teaching first year anatomy when I said I used to be a nurse ( but I trained a gazillion years ago....so don't think that's a career option ..though I do think she was quite serious) another wants to start a petition to stop me leaving!! I will miss my lovely ,friendly people that are part of my daily life but hopefully I'll meet new ,lovely ,friendly people.
My manager was okay....knew it was me...not the cafe that was making me leave....and I will be missed apparently!! His dad , the owner ,popped in to see me and we will have a few handover meetings to share all the vital information I have in my head....all the stuff I just do day in and day out!
Some pleasures:
The biggest weight has been lifted of my shoulders....have a sense of calmness and of doing the right thing!
Sunny but cold and windy, DD hung a washing out which dried in the wind.
Literally laughing out loud as I watched a duck get down some steps!
Loving my lovely kind customers, I will miss them, they have been my familiar faces for past 2 years. When we moved here I knew nobody and for first 6 months I really struggled as I missed all the familiarity of home. They soon became my familiar faces and whilst not the deep and meaningful friendships of home , their kindness and friendliness ( especially in past year ) have meant a lot.
Sitting in my office reading and reading until I finished a lovey book I've been reading.
Applying for first job.....who knows? But fingers crossed anyway!
Watching Tour de France.... I do like it , we have seen a couple of stages when we holidayed in France. All the carnival before hand then whhhhhhoooosh.....that's it, they've gone!
Nice chat with my best friend from home this morning before work....shared my news and she agreed with all you lot! She's been listening to my moans and groans ( as I do to her ) for months now!
For dinner I made a pasta with rtc sausages , rtc mushrooms and onions, saut!ed with bacon and then grated cheese melted on top.
Right it's bedtime for me. Have a lovely day....envious of your strawberry crops ! It's just wierd being all wintry when you're all summery! Must remember that when its winter in UK and I'm moaning about the heat here!
Have a lovely day whatever you get up to.....remember life is for living,0 -
Jings! Another long post......giving ampersand a run for her money0
-
mhags, and anyone else unhappy with their current situation, you only get one life, this is it, so you have to do whatever it takes to be happy. It's your right! There's always something you can do to change things so just do it, or Nike as they say. Congrats on taking the plunge mhags, won't be long before you're in a much better place
VJsmum we're allowed to say lol, lmao, OMG etc etc, in fact if we don't understand we get told we're old fashioned, so what the hell's wrong with glasto?!
DD oh the joys of puppyhood eh? Congrats to your student on their paper. Ref your No 5, see above
1. Bit of a troubled time with someone but got some sound advice from DS's partner which I'll be able to pass on. All mentors should take a course in social work!
2. Made some shortbread for this evenings get together, it's turned out beautifully but I haven't even attempted to try any. Yet...
3. Ex phoned last night, asked if I can remember how to tie a man's tie - ummm, not really something I've done recently! It's so long since he's worn one he got into a bit of a tangle when he tried but wants to look his best for DS's grad next week. I'm sure between us DS and I will be able to tie him up neatly
4. Intermittent appearances from the yellow thing which helped to dry the washing and ripen three more strawbugs
5. Vic plum tree is looking a bit sorry for itself, leaves yellowing and small still-green fruit beginning to shrivel alarmingly. I bought it from the garden centre I'm meeting Mr Bundy at tomorrow so will ask their very knowledgeable fruit person for his opinion. He always has the solution, both verbal and often in powder or liquid form
Enjoy the rest of the day0 -
