5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Still very hot upstairs here! Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Had a tidy and cleaned the bathroom, stairs and kitchen plus floor.
2) Smaller son's statement arrived and actually doesn't look too bad.
3) Smaller son's school report came (all closely typed 3 pages of it!) and it was ace! And 100% attendance since he started last November. He has gone from a 2c to a 3b for writing, which is quite something.
4) Went to mum and dad's for lunch. Posh chicken pie with chips and home grown beetroot, courgette in cheese sauce and another veg that I can't remember now.
5) Made smaller son a nurse's appointment for tomorrow for his ginormous finger but it has deflated now! You can see a mark above the knuckle now so it must have a splinter or something in it. Will cancel the appointment in the morning.
6) Had a phone call from the county council saying the smaller son's journey to school is now taking so long (2 hours some mornings!!) that they are going to taxi him from here right to the school door! They hope to get the journey down to about an hour. Will be lovely for him not to have to leave the house until 8am, much more civilised.
He is a bit sad not to be doing half the journey on the minibus anymore and it will be a new taxi company. We looked them up on the internet and luckily they have a good website with a picture of the driver (just a small company) so he has read about them and looked at their fleet!
7) Smaller son managed to Skype one of his school friends and it was very funny listening to their conversation! Seemed to be a lot of giggling then their brothers (at both ends) kept jumping around in the background. :-)
8) Popped to mum and dad's so we could all have a game of table tennis then sons and I went down to the brook (down the lane) and brother came too on his bike.
9) Just doing a few jobs now (breadmaker already on) then I'm off to bed to watch Holby City.
ETA 10) Phoned the local council about the wasps nest in the eaves of my house and they will phone me back and come and treat it for nothing!0 -
1. realised how lucky I am not to dread work, you lot made me realise that..thanks:)
2. then thought more and thought I don't have to get up super early to commute so thats a happy thought
3. Finally tackled the great wall of washing up as there were no bowls, spoons or knives left:D NOT a good day to have random visitors!
4. No random visitors:D methinks I like the middle of nowhere too much!
5. Wore sandals to hoe...giggle..my feet are very very dirty:D I look like I've been using my toenails to do the hoeing:D

1. Everything on my list done except getting the car cleaned/filled up which I'll do on my way out tomorrow
2. Neighbour's husband complemented me on the colourful back garden and 5 pots of mini conifers at front, underplanted with petunias. High praise indeed, he's a first class gardener
3. Spent ages looking for the clearest directions to DS's new house, printed them off in 18 point so I only have to glance at them en route, then he sent me yet another one. Confused
4. Dog and cat brushed, all shiny and smart
5. Has to be yellow thing. Hope it's like this on Thurs, the dress I'm wearing isn't suitable for anything less that 20c
Hugs to everyone, back at the weekend. Stay safe, sweet dreams0 -
So, here we go - for Chicken and anyone else who'd like it
CHEESE AND LENTIL LOAF
6oz red lentils
12 fl oz water
4 oz grated cheddar
1 onion - finely chopped
1 tbs fresh chopped parsley
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
lemon juice - squirt
1 egg
3 tbs single cream
Cook lentils in the water for 10 - 15 mins until they are a stiff puree texture (you might need more water)
Remove from heat and mix in cheese and onion, parsley, cayenne, Salt and pepper and lemon juice
In a separate bowl beat egg and stir in cream and pour over lentils (or do what I do and just bung everything into the cooked lentils!)
Grease a 1lb loaf tin and press in mixture
cook for 45 - 50 mins 375 degrees f or gas mark 5 (190 c)
I generally serve with salad, or new pots and a veg but will go with most things - an alternative sunday roast maybe?
Skint - good luck with the roof, we just had to have an emergency repair on ours as a ba$t*rd squirrel had got in and nested. I am missing my arm and my leg  (due to the bill - not the squirrel - he'll be missing his and more if I catch the bleeder!)
Yesterdays pleasures
1. Walking to work in glorious hot sun - I love it, love it, love it. I am sorry for those who hate it and it makes ill (my mum was one), but when you only really like summer and we don't get much here then I am :j:D:T:D:D:D:D at this weather.
2. Had interesting meeting with a student - I love that part of my job (don't like it today - marking - but I am at home)
3. I wore a new dress and felt good about myself.
4. Roast chicken with coleslaw and new spuds for tea, and had it outside on the patio
5. Got the house hovered and did the watering at the same time (moving hose round and position, run back to hoover a room, back out to move hose). The garden got a good drink and I didn't have to stand there.
Have a lovely day everyone.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Condolences ampersand, sending hugs and prayers your way x
1. Sunshine
2. My student finance mystery deepens, but hopefully in a good way! The website is now giving me figures and dates for money coming my way, but my name is still incorrect. Ho hum.
3. The above means that I will be 'better off' than I currently am, which I suppose isn't hard!
4. Bumped into chums and had good long chats
5. Arranged for one of my friends to take DD to and from Brownies with her DD - yay, I get to avoid a Brownie leader I had a bit of a run in with last week
6. Not very pleasurable to do, but I've scrubbed the fridge/freezer in the garage down, ready for someone to hopefully buy it.
7. Great day at school - only 2 weeks left til I leaveand
8. I've organised DD's sleepover for next Friday so I can go and party with my work colleagues in style, apparently we're going to a very swanky place for dinner and dancing, woohoo!
9. I've also organised DD to go to friends whilst I do our final car boot sale. Relief!
10. Got off my backside and called some recruitment agencies near my parents to hopefully earn some money during the holidays. Must must must get on with reading more of my books!! Not just the fun ones....
11. Found yet more stuff I can try and sell.
12. Hoping no news is good news from my solicitor re: house sale!

Pleasures for today
1. ds has received his card reader from the bank and paid me his rent.... just in time to stay in the black !
2. made hm burgers in ken woods "chef" then popped out to pick up ds from work
3. home again 20 min later to find the "chef" on fire  well maybe an exaggeration.... lots of stinking smoke coming out but no actual flame ... pleasure is that it didn't burn the house down ! It has had a good innings... came from ex's mothers house when she passed away about 16 years ago and I think she had used it for several years before I inherited it
4. reply from council to confirm I can continue to use my 50% off card for local attractions/amenities until its expiry date of end of august even though DS has now left college and I no longer get tax credits. Good news for when Dsis and DNephew come to stay
5. ice cream

Evening all.
ampersand - I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
1) Had a bit of a spendy day, but all done as MSEly as possible, including combining various codes and offers on the B00ts website to get £50 of stuff for £23, and buying a much-needed new pair of summer trousers at 20% off. :money:
2) Only two more days at work this week before a four day weekend.
3) Picked my first HG blackcurrants of the year - all five of them!
4) More flowers opening up - another dahlia (a pink one this time) and another gazania are now out in flower.
5) The reappearance of the yellow thing, after it disappeared for most of the afternoon.Back after a very long break!0
