Yes Frith, though it wasn't very well advertised this year. I only found out because they sent me an email as I clicked 'Like' on their facebook page last year. Here's the link to their page so you can do the same if you want. Presuming you use facebook of course..

Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm in this current weather and being careful driving :) Pleasures this week:

    1. After spending three weeks planning a cake, finally getting to make it.

    2. After making said cake taking it to Ideal Home and winning a K-Mix (wasn't very hopeful at the time but very happy, never won anything like that before!)

    3. Finding jobs I can actually apply for without very specific requirements.

    4. Spending time with my friends (and them cooking unexpected roasts).

    5. Finally a nice cup of tea and a long lie in. Simple pleasures.

That's absolutely fantastic! Well done on the win! :T
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Hello from an autumnal Melbourne , cooler mornings and evenings but pleasant enough through the day:

A few pleasures from past few days:

    1. There was of course a hurrah it was Friday! Work was slightly less manic for some reason so that was good!

    2. Went on a hot date with my husband to a local restaurant ....which was nice.

    3. Bought a handbag in local op shop for $8.99 just because I liked it, soft tan leather with a beautiful purple lining and the brand prune ( u should have 2 dots above it) gave it a wee google when I got home and they retail for about $895.00!! So slight bargain on my behalf!

    4. Homemade bread.....what homemade bread? Gone in a flash yesterday with pât! and salad for tea. Got more on just now as well as 3 pans of soup- lentil, bacon and courgette and pumpkin. Will freeze portions. Also made a chilli for tea tomorrow and have the makings of nachos for tea tonight. Plan to make a pear sponge with RTC pears .

    5. Enjoyed a leisurely breakfast with my husband this morning, we found a lovely country cafe a few weeks ago. So sat on the verandah with parrots circling and squawking like crazy things around us. Gently warm and just all very pleasant! Autumn leaves dropping off the trees.

    6. Ironing part 2 done, part 3 still on the line. Part 1 was done yesterday! No idea where it all comes from! Sure the neighbours are adding stuff on my line!!

    7. Nice chats with my best friend yesterday , she'd had an awful week but we ended up laughing at the end of the call,
Then a nice long chat with my sister this morning (4am....I had woken up very early!)

    8. Some of the rose bushes are flowering again. A lot died in the heat of summer, when we were away and weren't watered. But since we've had a few torrential downpours the garden is green again. My rhubarb which I was afraid I'd lost has sprouted again. It grows all year round here which is great for a rhubarb lover like me :)

    9. Still catching up on my Holby episodes.....ideal when chopping veg for 3 big pots of soup and ironing parts 1,2 and 3!

10.saturday snooze and probably a Sunday snooze too! Call the Midwife returns tonight for series 2 so we're looking forward to that.

Enjoy your Sunday I'm hoping this posts!

Purpledonkey - congratulations om your win.

    1. Met a neighbour while walking my dog and had a chat and was impressed with how well behaved her puppy was.

    2. DS2's friend came over for a while and it was good to hear them chat away.

    3. Cooked some lasagna - for the freezer aswell as for tea.

    4. Given some free samples of face cream when shopping and were told as DH had taken out service cover on printer 3 years ago it will be replaced! He never takes out service cover.

    5. Buying some herb seeds and hoping will save money in the summer if they grow.

  • Oh no, I missed some sheeple event again. I must pay more attention. Minds me of putting the radio on in room Tuesday last, previous occupant obviously watched tv and in the fifteen seconds to get to channel 723 some BBC programme dramatically managed an insertion from their charity sponsors.

Just glad I no longer pay the TV tax.

I wander now to the next inherent sheeple even.

    5 Pleasures from the weekend.

5 Rugby was postponed yestdi. But bagged a double headed steamer!! Well chuffed. Picture later. As you know, I love steam.

4 Going into the Forest this day, so getting even more steam. My nostrils are swelling with the hot ash.

3 Flask of tea and buns as well as double chocolate biscuits to go with them.

    2 gether with Ms Whack!

1 Pleased that my latest Private Eye has a picture of the sheeple leader from hacked off. I hear the editor was interviewed about the censorship of the press, they were expecting him to align with the correctness and thought, yet he slammed into the censors. Oh dear, an not fix all.

Now, to be honest, I do hear that, sorry chickpol, some numbers came from the blue lamp. But we already have adequate laws to root out the hackers.

Alas, as I switched off the TV back in January because one channel, their shows were melded into a charity advert, itv just was not watched, and the sports channels a continuos advert for the bookies. I have not missed it.

Oh dear I has grunted on again. Now must book free tickets to the cinema.

their bags are nice, if pricey, you'd better put yours on your insurance! Can't say I think some of the models outfits are quite 'me' but the shorts gave me a smile on a horrid morning...

purpledonkey well done you :T If I try to make a sponge cake it always turns out like two pancakes!

Opened the curtains to even more snow, the road is covered in a few inches and a kind neighbour called to say there's ice under the snow so not to go out, he would take his 4x4 if I need anything :).

Reading the gloom and doom show (news) this morning makes me wonder if people will ever stop to think what they're complaining about, and about whom. So many blaming the government for the weather and lack of services - this is UK and we get freaky weather, go and buy a box of candles/generator/calor gas heater/barbeque or whatever, and some salt. Strange how we buy sun cream for the few weeks of fine weather yet don't think about providing for the months of cold we get every year. Perhaps MSE should be compulsory for everyone :D
Just realised I'm complaining too so will creep off my soapbox and go and wash up. I know my place...

Have a good day, stay safe and warm, and hope Frith and everyone else doesn't have any more power cuts :)

Thanks all, one step closer to one day opening a bakery (in the distant distant future). I have a recipe sparrer if you want it? I'm sure your cakes still taste delicious :D x
'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'
  • Can I play please?:j

Yesterday, my heart was lifted by:

    1) watching my 3 springer spaniels trying to catch snowflakes and eat them.
    2) Lying in bed eating croissants and drinking tea until 11.00 a.m.
    3) Snuggling under a fleecy blanket, in front of the logburner watching a brilliant film - didn't catch the beginning, so no idea what it was called, but it was about somebody trying to steal the Declaration of Independance from a museum because it had a secret map on the back showing the location of a treasure hoard.
    4) Yummy dinner of slow-cooked chicken casserole
    5) House smelling of yummy chicken casserole all day - who needs air fresheners?
    6) Managed to get two loads of washing dried on the line on Friday - we had gale-force winds, but no snow or rain. It is airing in front of the logburner and the sitting room smells of summer - well, it makes sense to me:o
7)Knowing that cupboards/freezers are stocked, log basket is stocked, chickens are secure in their coop (and still laying!!!), dogs are snoring in their beds and all's right with my world.
Have a peaceful Sunday all....... x

  • Haven't been on for a while due to an influx of freelance work, a massive long winded dose of the flu and a mini break in London to visit the ideal home show!

    So a few collective pleasures for recently;
    1. Lots of ideal home show freebies.

    2. Found our dream house and it got the thumbs up from grandad (the only person whose opinion really matters to me) we are putting an offer in on Monday :j

    3. Flu has finally gone! Never had it that bad, I'm usually groggy for a day then fine but this one wiped me out for days. Not fun.

    4. Sorted out our finances ready for the impending mortgage. It'll be a change of pace financially but also in terms of lifestyle. We'll have less to spend but the new house is situated in the countryside with lots of excellent dog walking spots, a garden we can grow our own in and sit outside in summer and a log burner for the colder weather!!! So we'll have everything we need to entertain ourselves right on our doorstep.

    5. Got back into comping and won a packet of crispy crumb coating, small win but its a start!

    6. Not bought any clothing this year :T challenge of not buying anything for a year is going really well.
