PK- I hope that you feel better soon.

VJsmum - you can keep the "white stuff" ! Love it that your DS won't let you see his art teacher :rotfl:Mine shouted at me in front of the class ( which reached the class in the next room) that I was a "sarcastic bitc* and that I should get out and never come back !" . I didn't for two years... sat exams though and was only girl to pass "O" level art :p Btw - two boxes ???? must cost a fortune to dip your barnet !

Have a good day all !

    2) Bigger son wanted to see smaller son's school so dropped smaller son off first. Bigger son suitably impressed by the tiny size of the school and the 4 pupils there today! Not impressed that I gesticulated about something and managed to accidentally smack him in the bridge of the nose! Much staggering about with his eyes watering. The school secretary looked a bit shocked.
Rofl. Once pronged son with fork as with gesticulating with fork in hand, nuch to dds amusement and my and ds's shock

    5) Parent evening a roller coaster ride! About a third of the teachers had a bit of a moan about his attitude and constant talking in class. Two thirds think he is absolutely marvellous. The drama teacher (a young Gyles Brandreth) was very enthusiastic. 2 worked out which child would be mine without having to ask.
went to a workshop once by neil fleming (look up VARK learning styles) and i turned out to be a very audio learner. He sed you were always in trouble for talking in class and i sed yes. He sed ah for your learning style you need to explain it to someone else to learn. Sounds a good enough reason for me :rotfl:

Hope all kitties are well, including mrs bops (:p)
Ampers thanks for the trip down memory lane with scotsdales. Spent so much time there with the children when they were tiny. We lived in bishops road so it was a nice distance to walk.
Too tired when i got in last night to post so my 5 for yesterday
    1) finding xmas news quiz on youtube (having radio 4 wihdrawal symptoms!)
    2) going vegetarian for a month. It was my polish host's bday and i asked him what he would like. He said either donate £100 to an animal charity or go vegetarian for a month. Hoping it will also be os mse :D
    3) getting through all my work emails and blog replies (i am officially working this week, not on holibags) on my ipad. Sometimes the connection was a bit slow for loading blog replies but got there in the end.
    4) then long soak in enormous bath. A bit too big (hadnt realised that was possible) it must be about 6 foot had to concentrate on not slipping under. Lots of bubbles
    5) unusual evening. Met a group called transfusion who are transgendered male identified at birth in Lodz. Very interesting talk but my heart goes out to those of them who feel rejected by the church. I believe in God, my host does not. I have no trouble with that. I do howeve have major trouble with those who profess faith then reject the 'lifestyle' of others claiming it is against God. !!!!!! what did Jesus spend his whole life on earth doing?! Ok rant over :D

Hello all, hadn't realised I'd been away so long. Just work, which is good after months of not too much activity.
Ampersand, after Tim Minchin and Henning Wehn, yes I do like Marcus Brigstocke - always humour in his eyes and a smile never too far from his lips.

Henning was raised in the general area of where I used to live in Westphalia, odd to think that when I lived there he was a small child - brings home that it was such a long, long time ago.

    1. I have enrolled on the Mental Health Awareness Course that I heard of through work. I'd thought it was online, but no, materials to keep and read again, hooray. I know I'm an e-tutor but I would prefer this option.

    2. Lots of OS meals - liver & bacon casserole, basa fillets, pommes Anna. The Jamie Oliver food processor zapped the potatoes into paper thin slices for pommes Anna. Shame DS wasn't impressed.

    3. My Magic Greengrocer came up with 10lbs of onions for £1.50 today. Will utilise Jamie O's gizmo to thinly slice and freeze at least 5lbs as so many recipes seem to call for onions in this form, and it isn't worthwhile getting the processor all set up for 2 onions. I'm quite good at thin slices but I'm no Michel Roux, the machine will do better.

    4. At the live music club on Tuesday, a tune not heard there before - 'When I'm Dead & Gone' as played at my friend's funeral 3 weeks ago.
It was good to hear it and think of her, but I was thinking (as at the funeral) that my friend would have probably wanted Robin Laing's lovely song Isle of Eigg (link is to The McCalmans singing it) sung by Barbara, whose partner MC's the club.

I had meant to ask my friend what she wanted, but there was never a right moment, and then there were no more moments.
Of course, Barbara then sang 'Isle of Eigg' later that evening. Perfect.

    5. Am@zon are sending me £200's worth of steam-generator iron to review. My last Am@zon iron lasted 3 weeks and I had to go back to my previous s.g. iron. Which, like the new one, is a Philips, It all bodes well.
And £40's worth of Leifheit mop. (Who pays £40 for a mop?!!)
Plus lovely Maille mustard to review for BzzAgent. And free toothpaste.

6, The parcel postie screamed to a halt as he passed me coming home and gave me my parcels on the street. Slightly illegal I think, bless him for bending the rules for me and saving me a 3 mile round trip.

    7. Riding my trike is now a much enhanced experience since I got the tyres properly inflated with the new foot pump. I fully expected it not to work properly, as I have a history of this happening. It worked perfectly.

    8. £land had these - beautiful hand creams for an eighth of the RRP. Plus various other goodies inc a The Who classic 'Target' mug for DSo-i-L for Easter. As always, quick, kind and patient service from the staff. Other stores please note... low prices need not equate with low standards of service.

9 Replaced my lethal bath mat (it skids, I nearly fall) with a non-slip one from A!di. It is memory foam, covered with velour and deep blue.

    Sorry for waffling on.

    Good evening all !

mculloch - thank you xxxx for directing me to the free courses. I had my telephone induction today and sent off my application and enrolment forms. Can't wait for the work books to arrive in order to get cracking.

    5 for today

    1. Day off.

    2. Looking forward to the starting the distance learning course.

    3. Took the tiny terrier to the park , washed her off and sprayed her with the free sample of pet deodorant that you also had I believe Sparrer ?. She now smells less like the bottom of a pond !

    4. Brother and S-I-L came over and said that he doesn't want a party or his 50th but wants a meal out with the family instead. Gave SIL the money I had been saving since Jan 2010 - should cover at least half of the cost of feeding all of us.

    5.Macaroni cheese for tea :D

Have a good evening all !

Took a phone call at work from a very irate DH, to find he has been very seriously frauded, the police have been ever so helpful, but none the less it’s very stressful as it’s going to take a while to find out the depth of it, words are not polite enough to say what I think of the scum.:mad:

    1. I went into work, got it all done, and some fantastic news. I
    2. I have been asked to stay on for another 6 months.:T:T:T
    3. I went out to run errands at lunch, picked up prescriptions, and popped here and there and called dh to ensure he had calmed.
    4. Home and it was still daylight just.
    5. Nice warm cuppa, lots of food to chose to cook when I can be bothered.:)

    1. Such coincidence, McC - so, have you negotiated with your son re: attending Henning's show? I find my intended Marcus B is on a Thursday, clashing with Spitalfields. Will deffo try somewhere though.
    2. Wore long johns under trousers, for collecting prescription and checking for results[none yet]. Felt completely insulated and safely warm. It is bitter out.
    3. W8rs free cappuccino+Weekend, read Murdoch's organ, a dozen tired roses [STRIKE]£12[/STRIKE]19p![odd amount, I know] and rtc teacakes on promo meant 40p for 12[in freezer now]. Reduced rose stems by a good 3rd, slant-cut, currently up to necks in icy water On verra. FRITH - WHERE IS YOUR POST W8RS REPORT please? Full detail required. Great people-watching too, I find.
    4. Incorporating a w8rs rtc trout in a vaguely cauli/cheese/leek/mushroom thing has turned out extremely lush.
    5. Having no guilt about being snug, about to return to nightie, fresh hwb, Thermos of black EG, book, radio and fat chance of My Little Country continuing as they began in Cricket last night....but it will be on throughout.

Against all that seems logical with global Government atm, I have had optimistic stirrings about the mix that Pope Francis, Archbishop Justin and President Barack seem both symbolic and capable of. Obama's speech yesterday was remarkable and has today drawn apology from Israel to Turkey for bombing their aid ship 2 years ago. His great gifts as patient conciliator and tireless reasoner are what built a rock-solid path to the White House after all. Yes, I am hopeful.

I would not DREAM of joining those commenting on Mrs Slocombe's [STRIKE]kitt[/STRIKE]y....:rotfl: Mentioning no names sparrer, vjm, dd, - all led astray by that naughty bop.

pk - again, one of Life's ironies that you have your marvellous relief re: work - for which CONGRATULATIONS! on the heels of your dh's fraud discovery. But you know that it will be set right. A horror though right now.

Evening all, and thanks for all your good wishes for mog.

sparrer - yes, they do like to worry us! Mine seems to develop something new every six months or so which always looks serious and makes me think this might just be The End - and each time (so far, at least) it's quickly gone away or has proved to not be serious at all. I swear he's doing it on purpose! ;)

PK - that's great news for you, but dreadful news for your OH - I hope things get sorted asap.

    1) Mog is definitely better today - he purrs when stroked and his food has stayed eaten (sorry if that's TMI), which is a marked improvement on yesterday.

    2) Found some mini puddings from a posh brand RTC to a fraction of the usual price, so I treated myself and am now really looking forward to the lime cheesecake I'll have after dinner.

    3) Received the cheapy seeds I'd ordered from the MSE newsletter - I've never had much luck growing herbs so I hope these ones might live for once!

    4) Received a letter from a political party whose policies I can't stand, asking for my support, so I sent it back to them, with a note asking them not to contact me again, in the reply-paid envelope that they have to pay for. Petty, I know, but mildly satisfying. :o

    5) It hasn't been at all a good week, but it's Friday now; I'm planning on spending my evening with one of my new books, a glass of wine, and the sound of the rain pounding on the windows. :D (ampersand - sounds like a 'snap' to me! ;))

Have a nice evening, everyone, and stay safe if you're in one of the areas where the weather's even worse than it is on the south coast.
Back after a very long break!

Thanks Ampersand, DS has just shot in from work and shot out again as per usual- I haven't had a chance to mention Henning yet!

Chicken, I am pleased that you followed the course up and have completed your induction with the company. I hope the course goes well. I think they will probably mail the packs en masse next week.

PK, how wonderful. Six months of breathing space for you, and with good news, you can take DH's bad news more equably.

I also feel more optimistic with Pope Francis. Like many, I agree that his choosing a name known and loved worldwide by both Catholics and non-Catholics was somehow symbolic of a reaching out to all.

My sis rang me earlier, greatly worried. A telesales voice from India had rung her ex-directory number and quoted her address. Obviously they bought that info, but as she can safely be described as extremely highly strung, you can imagine how that went down...
