pk hooray for the job extension, boo to the scummy identity fraudsters, hooray for the police being helpful
mcc is it just me or are ruddy telesales becoming more persistent and cheatier?
skint good, luck for your son's interview
vjsmum wooly pully sounds just right for the spring we seem to be having. Can wear it with ampers long johns!
It's -7 here in Lodz at the mo. brrrrrr.
1) ate so much yesterday forewent breakfast but did have nice cuppa in hotel room
2) day 2 of vegetarian challenge month and host took me to very good veggie cafe for lunch where i had a dubiously green cucmber and parsley slush. Veggie bake was tasty :P
3) back to hotel and read through 175 page doc for meeting on tuesday. They sent a revised doc when i was 2/3rds through. Just about to hit roof when i realised it's just the agenda they'd changed. Now smug knowing i've finished it. Just hoping i can make sense of my 4 pages of notes
4) Then to Lodz filharmonia concert hall for Krzysztof Penderecki's Pasja wg św. Łukasza (passion of Luke). The wiki notes say there is one tonal chord in the whole piece eek. Yes i did spot it, but was pleasantly surprised to quite enjoy it. bits I felt were a cross between RVW's sea and antartica symphonies. Only understood two words of the preceding polish lecture lol but the passion was in Latin (and i kinda know the story rofl)
5) then to pizzeria for supper. Now back in my hotel room. My host is teaching 8 till 12 so another slow start for meso relieved he didnt invite me to observe! keep warm everyone.

Ampersand - I didn't go to Waitrose in the end. My first plan was to drop bigger son off at high school, then drop smaller son off (many miles away), stopping at W on the way home. Bigger son decided he wanted to see smaller son's new school so we all went there then I had to drop bigger son off so no stop for me.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Taxi and school bus arrived despite 10cm of snow falling overnight.
3) Looked out of window to see MrN in dressing gown and woolly hat clearing snow from the path. ;-)
4) MrN dug my car out for me. (He was dressed by that stage).
5) Had my hair cut at college (£4).
6) Having my hair short again meant my eyebrows looked massive so off I went to get those threaded (argh!) and there was a special offer on.
7) Went to final college session.
8) Went to the library (handy small branch of county library attached to the college) and got the reading books for bigger son suggested by his English teacher at parent evening yesterday.
9) Made pizza for tea (dough in bread maker) and just had that with some baked beans.
10) Started snowing heavily again at 4 (had never seen such massive snow flakes) so have been in all evening by the fire. Just having a glass of sloe gin. First alcoholic drink of the year.
11) Will listen to the Now Show in bed and get a hwb or 2.0 -
Hi all,
My Five OS pleasures
I experimented with a long walk round the estate today and it worked a treat with me clocking up 2,772 steps per revolution. I did 2 x revolutions so with a wee walk round my scheme made target. And it got me out in the dark, out into the chilly night air, it got me avoiding tv so many repeats plus I apparently made fitness goal tonight on my fitbit pedometer.
I took a delivery of Farmison today a £67 shop which is 5lb of meat 2xduck breasts very ample, 1 very healthy chicken, plus the most beautiful joint of cooked ham I have ever tasted.
I left front door open to recieve the delivery making the flat too cold, but ended up my shopping for next two weeks, perhaps longer.
I scan read my beautiful michel roux books: sauces, eggs, deserts, pastry, all of which threaten to take me to new places cookery wise, and although it doesn't sound MSE will mean new heights of OS deliciousness. Highly recommended.
Electric blanket is on as is best place to sit out winter once exercise and tasks are done. laptop and ipad are easily moved by monster long 4metre extension cable.
I begun my first draft of a reply thread/post to ex? friend who has not even given me a chance to be decent hopefully he will take it right. good ugly and quite frankly offputting mysterious.
I emailed draft to myself so I can look at it at length.
I put on some french radio.
I chatted to bakery bits who are going to entice with more wonderful flours like pasta who have supplied me best flour ever going to use.
I had a wonderful union roasted coffee one from an independent supplier. It is nice to feel a more human transaction based on excellent product and consumer service and not the bloody data mining machine in between.
hugs to all who need it.:money::money::beer::beer::cool:#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
Reading whatever books I want to the rescue!:money::beer[/B

mcculloch I agree about the sa's in £land, they're all so cheery! Thanks for the heads up re the hand cream, it looks more than good enough for gifts
chicken yes I think the pet deo is the same. I like the smell but it made the cats sneeze - and I only sprayed it on the dog! Love macaroni cheese, I haven't had it for ages so thanks for the dinner idea
PK I'm so sorry to hear about the fraud, hope it all gets sorted out soon. Good news about work, at least that's one less thing to worry about
ampersand you do sound all warm and snug and cosy. I wear thermals tucked into sox under my trousers so there's no gap, very inelegant and I don't care that next door's teen DD laughs at me
BoP pleased to hear you're home with The Lady B and her furry feline, enjoy your weekend
DD and we think we're cold! I hope you're wearing your fur-lined drawers.
1. The few flakes of dandruff we saw first thing were gone by mid morning. Have put my two new rhubarb crowns in the spare, unheated bedroom until it's safe to plant them in their tubs outside
2. Gave the sitting room a good clean, needed to take a sweater off halfway through (had a thin one on underneath) and turn the heating down. Temporarily.
3. The diabetic pet food I ordered yesterday arrived this morning - what good service. It came with some extras and treats as I'm a new customer and 10% off my next order
4. Did a top-up shop in Mr M for fruit & veg, detoured to the ys shelves and got a chicken for £1.50p, a pork rib for 49p, 2 packs of back bacon for 80p and 2 bags of salt for 15p each as they were leaking, which I use as patio weedkiller in boiling water
5. DS has passed the interview for a job, now he has to wait to be called for the training course. There are two intakes a year so there's no knowing when it will be. Gone are the days when we were offered a job, worked our month's notice and started on the Monday following. They make it all so difficult now!
Sweet dreams0 -
Just had much whizzing of tyres and revving up noises of a lorry stuck in the snow and ice outside the house. Looked out and the snowplough had got stuck! That was the second one of the evening.
(The first didn't get stuck but did park opposite my house for a while for the chap to have a rest).0 -
Evening
Quick post as my bed is calling me
1. Up early even though day off, made OH packed lunch then enjoyed a quiet hour once he had left for work.
2. Took DD to the Ideal Home show on free tickets thanks to this site.
3. DD wanted a bag that she didn't have enough money for so have agreed that she will do some jobs around the house for me in exchange for the money. Yippee I get the ironing done
4. Bought DD some lovely handmade silver earrings to put away for her 18th birthday later this year.
5. Lots of free samples from Knorr, won't need to buy chicken stock for a while.
6. Changing tonights dinner plan slightly as couldn't be bothered to make a pie so just used the chicken and gammon with a free tomato sauce today with some pasta. Quick and easy and suprisingly quite nice
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Tealady - was the Ideal Home show in the NEC? Brother was there today but I think it was some self build type show.0

My five for yesterday
1. An early morning coffee at home in peace.
2. Pleased that I had taken a warm -an old cashmere which I was give 2nd hand-jumper to work as I worked in a freezing room in a draight.
3. Driving back to my base with the heater on full.
4. DS2 home from uni - he was home for under 2 hours before he went out to an event at his old school.
5. Met a friend while shopping - spent lots of money but DS2 is back home so need to buy more and will have to bake for cheaper snacks today.
6. Mackeral and new potatoes for tea.
7. Had a chat with line manager at work and she is now aware of how I feel - not sure what can be done but she was supportive.0 -
Have we all looked out this morning?
1. Thickly snowing ici. Checked everything under corolux corner, sheltered and covered.
2. Resurrected roses in hyacinth vase - holds a lot more water and stems sit better. Even the no-chance ones have perked up.
3. Glad another of us listens to French radio, wouldbeqaulitymoneysaver[from now on wbq should I write your name.] Kittikins is another fluent francophile. There are a few of us bilingues here.
4. I extracted longjohns, thinking they were fresh vest[another non-wispy garment of hivernal charm]and am so pleased to have found them. Wear multi-tights as hidden layers, but ljs are better atm. Must have been another jumble sale gather. Yes sparrer, same modus operandi - elegance indeed. Intend same shortly.
5. Yes village life - I pick up cashmere wherever I can and I'm happy to mend it if necessary. Had another 30p jumper last w/e which I'll wear today.
Frith - your 1st w8rs touchdown will be a pleasure in store. Soonish?
Think I'm now going back with brekkie to kitchen and will consume while watching all that's going on birdily outside. Will then have to do same. Wonder if village buses will run today. On verra. Have library books to change.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
