And that's smaller son put back in bed. Again....
Anyway, here are my pleasures for today!
1) Not a bad sleep. Fell asleep listening to the Secret Show (an old favourite) so will be able to listen to it again tonight and it'll be like new!
2) Took bigger son to school (early, for a school trip) with MrN's son5 and another boy we collected on the way.
3) Went to yoga. Back nearly killed me all the way throughout but it was nice to go otherwise.
4) Got home, sat on chair pondering how much my back hurt. Got up from chair, hip popped half out of joint. Split second of considering calling ambulance, horrible feeling and it popped back in properly and all pain and back pain disappeared!
5) Went down to mum and dad's to mend their laptop and had a game of Scrabble while I was there.
FGS, bigger son has now appeared with smallest cat who was "annoying him".
6) MrN's son3 called round for no particular reason which was nice as he hadn't been round for a while.
7) Made a big curry for tea.
8) Cleaned the living room and kitchen while sons watched a DVD in my bed.
9) Read lots of Harry Potter.
10) Earlier, smaller son did all homework that was set today to be handed in on Tuesday! So that's all done.
Sorry you are feeling less than spiffing at the moment, Kittikins. :-( Hope you pick up quickly.0 -
Sparrer your day did make me laugh. OH did once wnder why i'd put washing up gloves in the freezer :rotfl:
Hugs kittikins and anyone else under the weather
Ccp listening to fog horns is magical
1) went to meeting which was sposed to be 7 students, 2 secretaries and me. Change 7to 1 and that sums is up. Hmmm. But we had a good hour discussing next steps. The os pleasure? Having chaired the meeting and organised the to do list i came away with nothing - i am the strongest link :T
2) nice sarnie and cuppa on train. I bought the tea with my pumpkin card - 20% off and another stamp on my card (sarnie i got from student shop cos overslept oops)
3) caught the slow train to edinburgh cos there's lots of room to work. Had remembered to pdf student dissertation and download to ipad :-)
4) i love the train journey down to edinburgh, the bridges, the sea.
5) had my bottle of ginger grouse when i got home. Ginger beer with whisky, given to me by dd2's bf. label said best before end 2013. It was all drunk by 1938 :beer:MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello everybody
Kittikins - hope you are more "up" than "down" soon

Sparrer its so exciting looking round garden centres all the lovely plants and flowers, shame I tend to kill most thingsgreen fingered I am not. Most plants have to be able to fend for themselves in my garden, I only have 1 flowerbed now as cannot kneel or bend. Be careful if you buy something today ..... with the day you are having you could come home with anything
I also have just the one flowerbed, which is gradually covering itself with strawberries. I'm not keen on them but the DGC and LO next door like them so it's not entirely a waste of space. Re buying, all the plants are so tiny and fragile atm so will wait until there's less danger of frost and snow and they're a little stronger. I'm not into garden ornaments but I saw this beautifully carved wooden tortoise....then I found some gardening vouchers in my purse, a gift from ChristmasChickenopolis wrote: »
Sparrer - Wow definately shoes in fridge day !Where was the bag of flour btw?
I don't have a clue where it is! I bought another bag this morning so it's bound to turn up shortly. Or is that just wishful thinking?
Welcome back to the madhouse villagelife
(((Hugs))) Kittikins just be kind to yourself
1. The rain has turned the lawn a lovely shade of green. Still have to seed some bare patches but it's really perked yp
2. My side gate is mended! I've been asking the repairs dept to do it since last October, it's been stuck all this time so it's lovely that it works like a normal gate and not something I have throw myself at to open
3. Made plans for us all - DD, DSiL, DGC, 1 DGGD - go out for lunch after the match (Sunday league, DD's pub team) on Sunday.
4. Have tuned the car radio in to Classic FM and discovered it's true what they say about calm music/steadier driving. I should save some petrol now, I certainly need to at the price it is!
5. Cancelled all tomorrow's appt's etc, no housework will be done, will be watching Crufts to see if iIcan catch a glimpse of DD who is showing. With her dogs, of course!
Sleep tight0 -
Sparrer, liver cake (kidney cake lol!) is for pooches i'm guessing, is it a treat for dogs? I make my own dog biscuits for the crazy collie, but haven't a clue about liver cake. Is there a recipe? Would really appreciate it if you could let me know
Skintyetagain, i used to have black fingers, as in the gardening hands of doom to all they touched. But practice makes perfect. Honestly, keep on trying. Believe you can succeed, and with a little know-how, you absolutely will be able to grow something. Salad leaves are especially easy
Purplekitten, glad you are feeling a little better :j
Chickenopolis, you are so right, we both do the ooh-ahh greenfingered dance of funny moves and pained expressions!
CCP, glad your mog is fine
My 5 for today...
1. New book arrived today. I am very pleased :j
2. Spent a wee while in garden. So much to do. Bit overwhelmed but not giving in.
3. Mum has an appt with specialist tomorrow. This is good as she wasnt sheduled an appointment for a while but she has sporadic moderate to severe pain and some swelling and it might be lymphodema so the specialist will tell us more tomorrow. It can take me hours to rise and its an early appointment so might not go to sleep at all tonight as joints so stiff and sore and painful can take hors to get ready to go out. Only other thing i can think is to have maybe three or four hours and then give myself the necessary hours i need to get mobile to get to the specialist with mum.
4. Made some chuck-it-in bickies. Ingredients....neither weighed nor measured...but generally consisting of a lump of butter, some treacle, an amount of sugar, flour, spices or other flavourings and an egg if available. Mix in to a dough using ancient mixer and make bickies guessing temperature and length of baking required. DD and DS are eating them so they can't be all that icky.
5. Watching Alias in bed, with collie-wobbles slobbing out beside me ...she was a sod in the garden today. But we have kissed and made upGrocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

DD but doesn't everyone keep their rubber gloves in the freezer?
katholicos yes liver cake is for the mutts. I don't weigh anything, just chuck it all in but basically you whizz a supermarket tray of liver, about 70p worth, and 3/4 garlic cloves until it's puree'd. I chuck in softened veg peelings as well if i have any (not onion skin though as I learned very quickly!), put in a big bowl and mix with three eggs and a good slurp of olive oil. Gradually add plain flour until the mixture is thick pouring consistency and pour into a well-greased large meat roasting pan. Put into the oven and bake at 175c for about 1 1/2 hours, take out and cut roughly into 1/2" squares with a pizza wheel while still warm. Leave to get quite cold before removing and breaking up. Keep in the freezer, I use a large ice cream tub, and take out only what you need for a few days. My mutt has three pieces for breakfast and two before bed so I keep 25 pieces, ie 5 days worth, in a tub in the fridge. If it's kept out any longer it tends to go off, as there's no preservatives in it. It makes enough to last us about a month or more, is really economical and most importantly you know what's in it0 -
