5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Attempted to read through all I've missed since I last posted but there is too much. Been crazy busy this last week.Crazy.
My five for today;
1. Had my niece for an hour, she almost crawled for the first time and whilst I was encouraging her I was kind of hoping she didnt do it whilst her mum wasn't there!
2. Banana and Nutella muffin and a cup of sainsbobs basic tea, makes a very nice cuppa for 35p a box.
3. Mum back from holiday so a quick catch up, not as long as I'd have liked.
4. Turkey casserole in the slow cooker, smells lovely and I've just added some dumplings.
5. Contemplating getting a bath and my pjs on because its freezing here today, don't know where this warmer weather is but it ain't here! Brrrrrrr.......Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -
Evening all.Chickenopolis wrote: »CCP -is your foot getting better?
:undecided I'm really not sure, tbh - I keep telling myself that it's improving but I'm not 100% convinced it actually is. I'll see how it looks at the start of next week, when I'll have nearly finished the course of ABs, before making a definite pronouncement.
1) Another lie-in. This not-really-working from home lark is making me very lazy.
2) Managing to stack some discounts and vouchers to get £9 ish off a £20 spend on toiletries. :money:
3) Really fancied a takeaway pizza for dinner, but decided to be (relatively) good and get a frozen one instead, with a discount in-store and a cashback offer online. :money:
4) A couple of weeks ago I filled in one of these supermarket surveys - the ones you get on receipts sometimes - and today I got a really helpful, detailed response from the manager. Well done Sainsbobs - most places don't bother responding at all! :T
5) Erm... thinking desperately...... football on 5ky tonight, and I might be really naughty and treat myself to a tinnie while watching.
Have a good evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Chickenopolis,
Two things we have in common, 1) i don't like custard cream biscuits or other 'cream' type biscuits and 2) i have never listened to the Archers either
I did click on the archers link on the bbc, but there were two massive webpages of characters and it confuzzled me just looking at all the cast members. Couldn't bring myself to listen to it.
My 5 pleasures for today are...
1. Had a short time in the garden, hands and forearms so painful that i had to give up soon after starting. Even covered in heat rub, tablets swallowed and hand and wrist supports on i couldn't get back to it. Still, i moved a small shrub.
2. Now in bed watching Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce in Sherlock Holmes in Terror by Night. Collie curled up at bottom of the bed.
3. Fried egg on toast with lashings of tomato sauce.
4. NSD.
5. Washed 1 load of darks and they are now on the indoor clothes rack.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

DD... Love it , and just for that I am also going to join in with Chicken and Kath and as I have never listened to the Archer’s either,:rotfl: but I do remember hearing the music at the start when my mum used to listen to it, just checked and its been on air since 1951!
1. Work was busy but nice if that makes sense.
2. Home to make hm de horsed – burger and salad !!:p
3. Off to shop not sure it’s a pleasure as fairly barrasic having moved my pay date.
4. ERR animal came belting down the stairs when it heard I was back from work.:D
5. DH has decanted daffs from green house into a hanging basket to be able to see them, and the peppers and toms are growing very very slowly. starting to wonder if I am just growing weeds0 -
Pleasures for today.
1) Not a bad sleep but left the window open so was woken at 4am by a noise outside. Haven't heard the muntjak for ages, must have been a cat or 2.
2) Still got my cold so went back to bed for a bit at 8 after sons had gone to school.
3) Another mother from school dropped off a bag of summer uniform polo shorts for bigger son. She has always done this, right through primary school. Her note read "Here are some spares if you need them" though I am sure she knows I can't buy them new at £10 a throw (silly school logo on them).
4) Freecycle lady picked up a quilt I found at the back of the airing cupboard.
5) Bigger son and son5 from next door hatched a plan to get off the bus a mile early and go to the farm shop on the edge of the village for a drink. So smaller son and I joined them at 4.00.
6) Lasagne for tea which just meant getting the base I made last month out of the freezer and finishing it off.
7) Watched Holby City earlier on.
8) Bigger son going to Brum tomorrow for a school trip so in an unusual act of thoughtfulness, I have asked 2 other parents if their sons need a lift to school early as well.
9) Phoned for a quote for the last bit of re-pointing that needs doing (majority done 2 years ago). So that man is coming out next Tuesday.0 -

1. I listened to the Archers off and on almost from the beginning, but somehow it wasn't the same after Doris, then Dan, Aunt Laura and Walter died. Like today's modern soaps once they kill off the original cast the programme just doesn't 'have it' any more. Loved it for many years though
2. DGD1 and DGS1 came to lunch, at their request chilli and jackets with cheese, and I found some of last year's pears and apples in the freezer so made a crumble which we had with C d'Or ice cream. Had some crumble mixture left over so made some singles in ramekins with plums from the freezer.
3. After the DGC had gone I cleared, washed and dried up (they would have helped but had to get back to work and I like my kitchen to myself), then had a cuppa and a lovely siesta
4. DNeighbour brought me a yummy piece of chocolate cake from her DD's birthday
5. A very strange experience, watching a friend repair Office on my laptop from his house. The laptop and I were in my house, 10 miles away! Fascinating to watch, and am very grateful indeed for him doing so especially as he's got a virus and is feeling quite rough.

Morning all, what a good start to the day...
Poured the boiling water over the cereal instead of in the cup. Being OS the dog had it for his breakfast once cooled and drained.
Bought a bag of flour last week and planned to make scones this morning but the flour fairies have magicked it away. Not in any of the cupboards, the fridge, the freezer (well you never know!), the car...where, oh where can can my self raising be!?
Visiting DD this morning, she's asked me to pop into Mr S for some liver to make liver cake for the mutts, it's Crufts tomorrow so she'll need a bagful. Who know what I'll actually buy?
I kind of enjoy shoes in fridge days, you never know what's going to happen next
Happy Thursday, back later with my 5.....:)0 -
Hi all *waves* Hope everyone is happy and well.
my 5
1. sat on the sofa, fire lit, lights on, misty soft spring rain falling outside, birds in the garden including an increasingly tame pheasant.

3. Talking of hens, they are laying well including some big double yolk eggs.
4. looking forward to getting in the garden in the next few weeks, planting new things and enjoying spring flowers
5. my friends !!!!! has had her puppies. We are going to have one. very very exciting.
I'm really happy , especially as a friend called yesterday and thanked me for help in finding her the job she wants.
