I don't know how many thousands of school pupils are in the north of this county. I do know only 10 are allowed in the short stay school - and two of those are from the same tiny primary school. I wonder if anyone will bother to look into why?

Things still not sorted but most urgent stuff is in hand and (fingers crossed) DS2 and I escaped the bug and the river is still behaving itself. :j

Mhagster, I hope your OH’s new meds make him feel better.

    A bunch of pleasures:

    1. Doing a big catch-up on reading all the posts on here. Soooo cheering up. :D

    2. Am doing really well over keeping on track with meal planning (including left overs for DS1’s packed lunches), doing shopping and errands on one day a week and only paying in cash etc. I really got on top of this at the start of last year until disaster struck so I’m determined to see if I can keep it going longer this year.

    3. However, I allowed myself an extra shopping day today with cash already put by because my watch battery ran out and it was stupid to try and function without one. I also had a 10p/litre off fuel voucher which ran out today and an almost empty tank in the car. So I did some conscious spending there. I suppose the main pleasure was that I remembered I had the voucher in time (and knew where it was)!

    4. While I was out I also went and used all the gift vouchers I’d been saving up from my birthday and Christmas plus the £8 from the savings pot and an extra £7 left over from Monday’s shop and bought myself the white cast iron kitchen scales I have been wanting for years. :D:D:D They will last for ever. I can, at last, weigh books accurately for postage for online book sales and weigh handspun wool accurately for dyeing, as well as all the usual cooking uses. My rubbish, ancient, cheapo plastic ones are for the bin.

    5. Tackled the cooker hob today. Good grief did it need it!

    6. Oh, yes, the snow, and the sunshine when it’s made an appearance.

    Sweet dreams
    B x

revolvingdoor, chip buttie sounds sooo nice, that's not fair!
CCP, like the uniquorn line! Also the one about David Cameron being worried there might be beef in his swan burgers...
Purplekitten, I've just picked up OH's old phone of a similar type and I think it's great, don't know why he could never make it work:rotfl:
Tealady,I reckon people who think us sad are really just uncomfortable that they're not doing what we're doing but don't want to admit it ;)
Dundeedoll, don't say any more about Vicky, haven't heard the episode yet, I listen to it on my phone as I get ready for bed. It's one of my quirky habits...

    So, 5 things:
    1. DS2 seems to be settling into new school despite having a cold and losing his tie (only took 2 days)
    2. Saw long lost friend (who lives about 100m away) for a proper natter for the first time in ages
    3. Found something I'd been looking for a while, a decent tasting and slightly healthy cereal bar - I often end up out and about at meal times and having one on me saves buying food - called 9bar. Funny name.
    4. house now quiet, all in bed, lovely and peaceful!
    5. 2 thermal vests mean I'm actually warm enough for almost the first time today. Hurray!

Quick hello...as once again Internet problems!

    1. Work was okay.
    2. I was inside for most of the 41o day.
    3. Bought a gift for my colleagues birthday tomorrow. It was only $7.00 I wasn't planning on spending more than $10 so quite pleased .
    4. We now have tenants again! They re changed their minds and have renewed lease. BIG weight off mind.
    5. Discovered macarons in the freezer, had put them there the day we went on holiday ....nice discovery!
    6. Dinner of chicken fried rice, all from fridge/ freezer and a free sweet soy sauce sachet.

Have a nice day ....hot hugs if you need one:)
  • Chicken thinking of you on my day off ;) but I am working tomorrow boo hoo!
Hope we dont get this snow they are forecasting for tomorrow

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. amazing sky in the morning, purples & violet with streaks of red over a frozen white landscape

    2. work not too busy

    3. leftover lasagne for lunch

    4. managed to get out of work on time and get home quickly missing most of rush hour

    5. steak for tea... nom nom. Was £3.50 so a bit of a treat but cheaper than a takeaway and quick to cook

Have a good day everyone x

No post yesterday, it was a sleep day until evening. I love retirement

    1. The gas man cometh for free annual boiler service
    2. Having not used the car since Sunday until yesterday evening it still had (and still has!) a couple of inches of frozen snow on the roof, the door was frozen up, the wipers were frozen up, the headlights were frosted up, but she started first time. I love my little car
    3. The whole country is upside down because of a little snow, people staying off work, schools closed, public transport in chaos yet last night's meeting was attended by over 30 people who came from as far as 20 miles to attend. Amazing, but when you think they used to go through 'fire and flood' to get their bottle doing it clean and clear-headed is a push-over
    4. Stopped at Mr M for a few bits on my way out last night, when I brought the shopping in from the car at 10.30pm the yogurt had started to freeze, so no fear of it going off :D
    5. nsd/npd today

    Stay safe and warm :)

It's ridiculous isn't it.:p How do other countries manage to cope so well when they have much more extreme weather? My friend was in New York when it snowed heavily and she got up very early morning to take a walk and there were people clearing the pavements and roads already for the rush hour.
