Broomstick - I agree that driving through snow is like going at warpspeed through space - such fun!
Tealady - my arms aren't really long enough either but I'm fighting having glasses all the time. They do hide some of the crow's feet though so maybe I should reconsider
Chicken - I'm like you, unless I have a super turbo hairdryer it might as well be someone wafting paper. If i tie my wet hair back into a bun or pony tail I don't think it would ever dry - it can be sopping hours later.

    For yesterday

    1. Got a shock when I switched on the laptop at 8.10 expecting to have a browse before being collected at 10, only to find a car was being sent at 8.45. I was in my jim jams and no brekkie. Is there a pleasure? Well I made it and had a moment to go and grab a yummy croissant from the bakery underneath the hotel - so brekkie cost £1
    2. I have sorted them out here - told them what they need to do and they seem to have bought it. I now think they sent me here as I'm a bossy mare, and others of my colleagues are not! :rotfl:
    3. Yummy lunch out with Sri Lankan colleagues, who at first thought i would love pizza (er no, I can have that in the UK anytime) so we went for yummy Sri Lankan food in UK Urban Kitchen (??)
    4. And chocolate pudding for afters - have been craving chocolate so it was perfect
    5. Took tea with the minister for Higher Education - sorted him out too :p TOld him their students need to be given more independant learning and they need the resources to do it, in order to make them fit for working in our industry and to encourage other industries here. I should be Prime Minister I reckon  Honestly though, the toadying that went on around him was awful, I wasn't doing that. I was polite and respectful (even called him "sir" - not many get that!) but toadying isn't in me I'm afraid. Mind you, there were 4 people talking at once in different languages, so I am not sure he heard a word.

I think I have a day off today, but who knows what might happen at short notice

    Enjoy the snow....

    Tiny phone screen again.
Hurrah for Friday , first week back at work has been enjoyable....now having a dilemma . Should I stay or should go... Cue for a song!

A flock of at least 50 parrots flew overhead as I was driving to work this morning .

Colleagues birthday .... Oh to be 23 !
I got married when I was 23 and we had bought our first flat .
    Council tax was £40 a month when I was 23 !
She liked her gift and other colleague baked chocolate cake with fresh strawberries on top. Very yummy .

It is cooler today , still warm but not on the 40s. It's 46o in Sydney today .

Having an empty! Everyone else is out. Girls are at friends for tea an OH and DS will be another hour . Blissfully enjoying the peace, the breeze , a cold drink and a tunnocks caramel wafer !

Soup from freezer for tea. Minestrone .

    Have a lovely day x

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. DD and I went out to buy a new hoover. Got a basic one from argos and we both were astounded at how brilliant it was on our bedroom carpets...we looked at oneanother and i said 'itnis probably really sad to be this excited' and she said ' i was just thinking about how we are living up to the stereotype of women being excited by electrical appliances'. We had a laugh, then carried on hoovering.

    2. Quick and easy tea. Veggie fingers, tesco finest chunky chips and peas.

    3. Discussion with DS that was as impossible as ever. Gives me yet another opportunity to attempt to accept his 'unique' perspective on, well, just about everything.

    4. Lots of loves/cuddles with our collie-wobbles.

    5. Bread machine that gave us a loaf in just under two hours.

3 When you go up hill. Power. Oh dear, do your wheels slip? POWER. Do not stop the power. Start in 3rd, you will get to 1st gear. DO NO STOP. KEEP THE POWER UP

Stop the power. You will not stop. You will fall, backwards. down you will come. If I am behind you, I will not stop. I will over take you!

Oh, if you are going down hill, and a car is coming up. STOP. You can set off again, if the car coming up the hill stops for you, you are the ...

Not to Idiots at 9:20 in Rowcroft Stroud. The one in the 11 plate Blue Fiesta. You held up a good group of us there. Why. Please see my standard templete. Throw your keys away. You were at the top. Why did you revers all the way back down? PARTICULANT.

  • Letter to DVLA

    Sirs,

Please find enclosed my Licence. As I cannot drive normally, in the snow, I find it impassible. Please accept my apologies for wasting your time in being issued this and remove me from the register immediately.

    Signed

Lots of people coming to the village shop by tractor. One especially big tractor has got stuck on the hill. :-/
  • 1. Delicious homemade soup for lunch with leftovers for the fridge and freezer.:money:

    2. The snow is lovely right now, before it gets to the slushy stage.:p

    3. I downloaded a book to read on my kindle so might go to bed to read, after watching Celebrity Big Brother of course.;)

    4. We put in a insurance claim for something that broke so hopefully we should get some money for it, we have never done this before but that is what insurance is for after all.:)

    5. Looking forward to a cosy weekend admiring the snow and knowing we have enough food and ways to keep warm.

(I just read that back and that sounded a bit suggestive,:rotfl: I meant keeping warm by having hot water bottles and fleecy blankets etc...)

Eeek! Not good if tractors get stuck, I thought they could get through anything (not sure if I'm completely ignorant.....).

    1. Treaty spend day, had £5 in my purse and spent it on pizza, little cake bars, and random RUBBISH!! Thought that if DD and I are going to be snowed in, we'd like some naughty food ;)

    2. My school closed early :)

    3. DD's school closed a while later :) She had fun this afternoon with a chum who came back with her after school :)

    4. Have started making a snowman in the garden :)

    5. DD and I are going to snuggle up on the sofas and watch Bambi :)

    6. Lovely quorn casserole bubbling away in the oven, nomnomnom.

    Enjoy Bambi - Kittikins
Revolving Door - well, if it works for you...
BoP - I am a rubbish driver in the snow - you'd best have my licence now.
Katholicos - Enjoy the hoover! It reminds me of when we first got a dyson, couldn't believe our carpets were so filthy

    A quieter day today

    1. Went to get my train ticket for my trip into the hills tomorrow and there was no queue
    2. Had (yet another) unexpected trip. The head of our University office here in Colombo rang to say he was in the lobby ready to take me to visit the offices. I was getting my train ticket at the time and had no prior notification that he was coming. Luckily there was no queue and I jumped in a tuk tuk to get back quickly. I was treated like a VIP and given a gift of teabags! Didn't like to tell them i drink Rooibos tea - from South Africa :rotfl:
    3. 3 hours by the pool. I couldn't stray too far in case of further unscheduled (to me) visits so I had to spend the morning and early afternoon on a sunbed (what a hardship :p)
    4. Once I thought I was safe from visits, I went for a walk round the older part of town taking photos of the old colonial style buildings and the tea room where Duran Duran filmed the video for "Hungry like the Wolf". I then walked along the ocean front and had an ice cream for 50p
    5. Managed to buy a few gifty things to bring home - tea, a tie for OH (silk - £2.50) and a bag for DD. Never know what to get DS - hopefully I will see something tomorrow.

So I have a day sight seeing tomorrow and then a flight very early Sunday morning (02.55 so really Saturday night). The airport at home is shut at the mo so I hope it sorts itself out before Sunday lunchtime - otherwise I might get stranded in Dubai!!

    Stay safe and warm
I wanna be in the room where it happens
