    1. NSD

    2. Fun trip to the library with DD after school.

    3. Great day at work, am getting busier and busier :)

    4. Have found out that my entitlement to free prescriptions also means I can have an eye test, which is much needed as I think I need stronger reading glasses!

    5. My dad posted back some of DD's winter stuff, hat, gloves, scarf that she left behind and the postman sensibly left it somewhere rather than make me go to the next village to pick up the parcel!

    6. Am going out tonight and a friend is picking up the babysitting tab x

Hope it doesn't snow but if it does, hope that my school will close (oh, and maybe DD's can too so we can have fun and hot chocolate!). Keep wrapped up everyone - I went to bed in my snuggly dressing gown last night it was that cold!!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

I'm feeling rather  today - there's a running joke amongst my family and friends that I can break anything, and I've managed it again - my nice new mobile phone which I was so excited to get has turned out to be faulty (I'm having to charge it twice a day even if I haven't used it for anything, so it looks like there's something wrong with the battery) and has to go back, and I've just been told they can't supply me with a new phone until they get the faulty one back.

    1) I haven't yet sent my old phone off for recycling so I'll still have a phone to use - don't tell my network, though, as I'm angling for compensation for the inconvenience! ;)

    2) Decided to make myself feel better in the most un-OS way, by indulging in some retail therapy - I need a new soap dish (oh, the decadence! :rotfl:) - but walked out of the shop in disgust when they served a queue-jumper before me, then, when I went to stand in the same place, was told I was queuing in the wrong place and would have to go to the back of a newly-formed queue. The pleasure here is that I went back to the office, found the same soap dish online, plus a new kettle (a yellow one! :j) which I badly need (albeit not necessarily in that colour ;)), both half price, with free delivery and cashback. :money:

    3) Forgot to defrost what I had planned to have for dinner tonight, but found something else that I can have rather than going to the shop to buy something.

    4) Cuddles with mog when I got home - one good thing about this chilly weather is that I have an unusually snuggly cat. :)

    5) The promise of snow tomorrow - I'm sorry to be selfish, but please let it snow!

Have a good evening, everyone, and stay safe if it does snow.
Back after a very long break!
  • My five for today;
    1. Tuna sandwich for lunch. Not fancy but for some reason I really enjoyed it!

    2. Snow. Had an inch or two this afternoon (unpredicted by the local weather). Don't know about tomorrow, one minute it's blizzard predictions then it's nothing to worry about  the pleasure is that I am prepared for whatever happens!

    3. Caught up on death in paradise, love that programme.

    4. Finished most of the print outs for my household diary and put them into a folder. It is so pretty

    5. Stayed inside where it is warm and safe.

  • Good evening all !

PK - thank you:) , thats a lovely thing to say xx

Skintos - sorry you have to work tomorrow . Good luck with the job application, second time at a vets surgery isnt it ?- how lovely :D

BoP - who would have thought 10 years ago that online bingo would become an epidemic? (not in this house I can assure you ) . Like the Beeb yesterday with the tragic helicopter accident. As no one had actually seen the accident when the news was breaking , they interviewed an MP who had heard a loud bang .Like several thousand others I shouldn't wonder ...Is this news ??

    5 for today

    1. Work ok

    2. Saw my aunt briefly as she came over to visit my Mum.

    3. CCP - not in the same league as your phone , but my new hairdryer I bought from Mr. A yesterday didn't work either . OH changed it today for one that works -as the travel hairdryer is like someone fanning my hair with a Rizla paper - it takes hours !!

4.OH made a horse free tea- pasta in hm tomato and soft cheese sauce

5.Brother invited us over for an evening at the weekend - with "by the way sis can you bring over the 36 piece Indian snack set you have in your freezer ??":rotfl:

Have a warm and safe evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    2. Got home and made a chilli.:D
    3. Remembered to re set up and pay the mortgage payment, a pleasure to not be fined.
    4. On the 3rd pleasure also remembered to enter the lottery and give it a go.
    5. I’m selfishly hoping for a rather big snow day or I will have to try and get in
    6. Playing err I mean learning our new shiney phone:p

    3. Saw DD's favourite perfume for less than half price and included the body lotion to go with it so now hidden in my present store.
    4. DD also needed some new thick tights managed to get some at 70% off in Monsoon.
    5. Bought huge SO gammon joint at the weekend which I cut three very generous gammon steaks from tonight for dinner. The steaks were yummy. I have cut the rest up and will do another two meals for the rest.

    Evening all.

    Five pleasures:

    1. Driving into horizontal snow on the way home. It still feels like something out of a space fantasy film - whizzing through the galaxies into deepest space. I know this will not be a pleasure in a week or so's time but it can be one for now.:D

    2. Made the yummiest soup ever for supper just out of onions, potatoes, celery and carrots. So simple, so good and so lovely to walk in from the cold to bowlfuls of it with grated cheese on top.

    3. My hot water bottle.

    4. Another NSD.

    5. DS2 has just come downstairs saying that he's just finished a piece of coursework that had an electronic submission deadline of midnight. I had visions of him panicking at 11.59pm but, no, he's got it sent off at a sensible hour. Phew:T

    Sweet dreams, stay warm,

Here are my pleasures for today (Thursday, thank goodness!)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Another school run over! Only -3 this morning but took 1.5 hours again.

    3) Phone call from smaller son's school. They don't want him tomorrow! This is only because so much snow is forecast they are worried if he gets there, they won't be able to get him home again. I asked how he is getting on and the phrases they used are (and I quote) "He's a delight", "we wish he didn't have to leave" and "he's got a terrific sense of humour". :-) They also said a few choice words about his previous school and that staff "shouldn't have taken his selective mutism personally" - which is what I told them for years! Apparently, school had told the new unit that he "never listens" (because he never answered a question) but they know like me that he actually listens to everything, all the time. Probably better than other children because he's not talking!

    4) School transport phoned and said they will provide transport in the mornings from next week!

    5) Went to yoga in the village hall.

    6) Made a lot of soup (lentils and carrots) and had some for lunch and put 5 portions in the freezer.

    7) Took boys to the barbers and bigger son had several inches of hair off.

    8) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    9) Enjoyed watching the new series of the Big Bang Theory.

Now can't plan ahead as we don't know how much snow there will be in the morning. An electrician is supposed to be coming bewtween 8 and 1 and I am supposed to be starting my college course but I will have to phone and cancel now smaller son will be with me tomorrow.

No snow here but can see it on the hills, and the wind is biting.
    1) emailed mum to see if she could pick me up for lunch as had 3 bags books I wanted to take home. brought them straight upstairs and put on shelves.
    2) remembered to use some of the sprouts left over for xmas for lunch. Fried with onion, curry paste and some of my frozen double cream cubes stirred in and pasta nom nom
    3) colleague has gone vegan and gave me very sticky scrummy Greggs chocolate cake which I saved for 3:30 tea time :P
    4) had to write a tweet about my abstract for conference submission for august. Allowed max 120 characters (i assume the other 24 are for a conference header) and got it down to 105
    5) mum very generously bought tickets for the magistrate beamed live from the NT. Absolutely brill. Thanks mum :D
