  • 5. Another Ian related pleasure, watching him prance about like a deer in the snow. He is four stone of pure muscle and he looks so funny elegantly jumping around :rotfl:

Dogs are so cute in the snow.:A

Never heard so much palaver as there is about the weather today, the main news was 4 minutes about international events, 20 mins on the British weather followed by 6 mins of forecast. It's not a world crisis, it snows a lot less than it does in other northern European countries, and they don't make such a fuss.

    1. Made a very large bowl of broccoli and Stilton soup using 1 potato, 1 onion, 1 head of broccoli, 100g ys Stilton, 1 1/2 pints veg stock, a couple of cloves of garlic and lots of black pepper. Cost no more than £1.50 and is enough for 7/8 good portions. Being OS I made it in the mw to save electricity.
    2. Spot cleaned the sitting room and bedroom carpets with Stardrops solution, I do like that stuff
    3. Good chat with DS on the phone, the greatest pleasure in my day is speaking to the DC
    4. Phoned DM to say I won't be visiting on Sunday, then got a call asking me to do an extra phone duty so my day won't be wasted
    5. Sent some flowers to a friend who is moving house this weekend, got double Nectar points which was a pleasant surprise.

Sleep well, stay warm and dry :)

    Good morning all -
...which adjective is permitted, as I'm back and full of so many pleasures from Paris, preceded by a marvellous fun day/work day/birthday at Spitalfields, some extraordinary adventures and just an absolutely marvellous, lovely, lovely break in a magical city, bien que c'est hiver, then a safe[but wait till I tell you more] return straight to next Spits, then long-hauler visit yesterday - also good.
I have all your pleasures to rattrape, but my attention is gripped by Laura Robson hanging on, HANGING ON in there against Sloane Stevens, both super-talented, in the Oz Open. With Heather Watson, there's a great few years now opening up for a really meaty renewal in the Women's game.

    STOP PRESS:
Arrived at Dunkerque in time to assist at The Birth. Ferry was delayed an hour in deference to arrival of Bethany[approve]Claire[ok, too]. Bet they had fun with the torture chamber sound fx.

I'll return later, but just wanted to[hopefully]Welcome Gemma, met in w8rose hier soir, having decided not to delay, but work self straight back into full-on free cappu training. She,also partaking, liked my long multi-colour Irish wool plaid coat[so do I - £2.50 Charity Shop]and thus we began chat. Friends, I propose and 2nd her 101% - our trolleys bore identical rtc's; we met at several counters for more sames; she asked if I'd heard of Martin Lewis....
I'm sure I carry the meeting with me in welcoming her on board here!

See you all later - I DO have to car out today. Take care. It's only winter but I seem to remember it comes most years, usually about this time...

  • Churning Muckers. I see a winch of bumps this day.

Kat hols. Nought wrong with a beenfeast. Hoe there was lots of chocolate.
& If I has known yous in Paris, you could had picked up me leather jacket. Left there in 1984.

SPARRA. Media. News station require to fill the other 58 minutes in the hour with scare stories, hype and bandwagon jumpers.

5 At the rate it is thawing here, the estate snowman is an endangered species.

4 Warm toes, toast on the fire. Breakfast of eggs, and marmalade. Differents I nose. But hey, why not.

3 Gosh they know how to murder a good song these days. An old Elton John, murdered. My cat can sing far better. Blessed thing.

2 Cat seems to enjoy the marmalade covered knife.

    1 Keep safe.

Morning all! What a lot's happened in a short time.
PK, hope your lurgy is better now.
Frith, great news re school transport assuming it happens in view of snow etc
BS and RD, right with you re soup, just planning which one (two?) to make - minestrone and broccoli+blue cheese maybe?
SYE, top marks for use of relevant icons!
Amp, you must be much better to sound so perky, am a bit concerned about Bethany's non-feeding, is there a black story line brewing there?

    Anyway, 5 ish things:
    1. Got to Scandi meeting and back safely, seems Manchester airport just stayed out of the main snow zone, phew
    2. Not MS or OS but my new laptop was paid for by said meeting and was absolutely perfect, I felt a bit more confident because of it
    3. Still got some snow here
    4. It tempted my (allegedly) ill DSs out yesterday for some fresh air and exercise, amazing:rotfl:
    5. DH's laptop had not, as he thought, died, just sulking momentarily, now ok again but the trauma has prompted him to back up files
    6. Virtually nothing at all I have to do today! Joy!:D

Have fun and keep well/safe/get well soon
  • My five;

    1. African peanut soup for lunch and enough leftover for lunch tomorrow.

    2. Me, OH and Ian the dog had a lovely trudge round the local field in the snow. Cleared the cabin fever that was setting in.

    3. Updated my household journal. Glad that I'm actually using it and it is more than just a stationary fad.

    4. OH cooking tonight so I have the rest of the night to chill out and relax.

    5. Looking forward to a hot bubbly bath later on.

    Evening all.

I've been feeling rather down today - now I've stopped taking the anti-b's, my foot's gone back to its painful, yucky-looking state, so I think I'll be on the waiting list for another operation by the start of next week. smiley-sad010.gif Looking on the bright side - as is required by this thread ;) - at least I know what to expect this time, and I'm going to insist on a doctor's note which should persuade occ health to let me work from home for a week or so after the operation, rather than struggling into and around the office in constant pain like I did last time.

    On to more genuine pleasures:

    1) Mog had a bad case of the fidgets this morning and woke me up five times between 5am and 7.30am. As it's a Saturday, though, it didn't matter and I could just sleep as long as I wanted to make up for it. :D

    2) Sent my mobile phone back to the network, despite a 35 minute queue in the Post Office (and they and Royal Mail wonder why they're losing custom!); I can give them a call in a few days to arrange for a replacement - you think I would have learnt my lesson after this debacle, but I'm all excited about getting a new new phone. :o

    3) Popped into work and a nice security guard released my car from its snowy captivity - most of the snow has melted, at least on the roads, so I had no problems getting it home today.

    4) When I finally woke up this morning, it was from a dream about eating jam sponge, and I've spent the day craving it. I popped into the supermarket this afternoon and - lo and behold - jam roly poly was on special offer, alongside some very RTC pots of cream. I think it was meant to be! ;)

    5) I've got a big pot of soup simmering away at the moment, to be followed by jam roly poly and cream.

    6) As you may have noticed, I've updated my avatar to a nice snowy one - thanks for the pic, Skint!

ampersand - it's lovely to have you back, and I'm glad you had such a good time. :)
Back after a very long break!

CCP, sorry to read about the problem with your foot, hope all goes well with it.

    My 5 for today...

    1. DD is terrifically excited that she and her grandma have just booked a holiday in Rome. I was asked to go with them, but i am not well and the nature of my illness means i will be a major drag if i go with them. I will be happy to stay at home and help DS look after the dogs.

    2. The dehydrator which is currently drying loads of pineapple chunks.

    3. Medication.

    4. Not much snow falling here today, thankfully. Though we have more forecast.

    5. Not having to venture outside except to scoop up the dogs toiletting.
