  • Thanxxxx DD. There are spinning in Beard Maker! Recipe makes twelve. Should be enuff for three [STRIKE]weeks[/STRIKE] days.

Oh, what has I started with the not miss the news! Last week in BnB, the robotonoids human remains were jaw gawping at the screen, every tinkle. Me, just watched the wildlife going round care free. Went off bull excreta free.
  • Good afternoon all !

Sparrer - It's nice to know you miss me ! I live next door to my Mum and next door but one is my cousin . He has just cleared the snow off of the path for our neighbour who is elderly and does not speak any English . He also gets in a panic if my security light on the drive way stays on as he thinks I have fallen over - bless him , glad he is so close and my family :) We all have to pull together on days like this !

tealady - I loved your "badger steak" typo - another extra for Mr. T's burgers???;)

CCP - gosh - I hope you feel better soon, it sounds awful ! Not your time of year either really , is it ?

    5 for yesterday

    1. Hens "braving" the snow, stepping high and deliberately across the garden- you could say ..goose stepping :rotfl:

    2. Finished the tiny terrier's coat - Mum said it looks like a horse blanket as its quite big and that I must knit very loosely :rotfl:Terrier looks cute in it.

    3. DM, OH, me, sister and her husband went to my brothers house in the evening for something to eat and to play games . We have decided to make this a quarterly event and to take it in turns.

    4. Cuddles from my nephew a 13 year old giant who just wants to be hugged or be as close as he can to you . Gentle giant -I love that boy and have always had a soft spot for him !

    5.20 miles on exercise bike

    5 for today

    1. Didn't hear the alarm as watched Gladiator which finished at 2.20am this morning and slept in. I love this film.

2.Poxy snow :( Loads of the stuff ! Still there is nothing that I can do about it ! Just keep out of it .

3.Pottered indoors preparing stuff for a roast beef tea tonight.Lucky we had all the stuff in. Used out of date mix for yorkshires and chopped up some Rosemary ( she asked for it :D) and voila - Little Connect 4 discs that taste of Rosemary :rotfl:

    4. Washing drying on radiators - better than putting on the tumble drier.

5.Stephen the Seagull is back and he is very hungry - he ate one of the yorkshires ! My garden is full of all manner of bird life - especially wagtails at the moment.

Keep safe all - hope VJsmum gets back ok
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    6. Am allowing myself an extra. Watching the Winterwatch: 1963 Big Freeze programme on iplayer. I can't remember it in particular, although I do remember other news events of that year. I must ask my parents about how it affected day to day living for us. It was really interesting.

    Sweet dreams

    B x

Given that I was born in December 1963 (Oh what a night!!) I think I know what my parents were doing during the big freeze :rotfl:

Hello, I'm back!!! Can't say "did you miss me" as you couldn't get rid of me :p

Ampersand, DD and co - something is going to happen re Bethany Claire but i am not sure / hope it will not be she herself as I think it will be interesting to see a story line around her. Tarrrm is going to get all broody I think and maybe Brenda will relent....

CCP - sorry about your foot, hope it gets better soon.

    For the past 2 days

    1. After setting 3 alarms to wake up at 5.30 for my train trip, I woke naturally at 5.20 (and 3.15 and 2.00 and 12.30 :()
    2. Lovely walk from hotel to station, early morning, warmth, and hardly anyone about
    3. Wonderful journey from Colombo to Kandy. 2.5 hours through stunning hill scenery, not for anyone suffering with vertigo.
    4. Started chatting to a bloke on the train and, after meeting him again in Kandy, ended up having lunch with him in a chinese overlooking the town. I am not in the habit of picking up strange men, you understand, but I think we both craved some company. He was an English journalist researching a book on Sri Lankan politics (I texted his name to OH after he gave me his card as a safety device). He was lucky enough to be going on to a hill village and tea plantation for the night and I caught the train back.
    5. Loads of monkeys round the temple and lake in Kandy.
    6. When I got back I headed to the sea and saw the sun setting. I don't think i have ever seen the sun set without clouds before and was awestruck seeing slowly dip into the sea.
    7. Last glass of wine on the terrace in the warmth while I could.
    8. FLights were fine - I think I have even managed to get about 4 hours sleep. I am now home and am pleased to be here - even in the snow! OH brought my coat to the airport so I didn't suffer too badly.

So that was that - fantastic experience and I've sorted them out ;). Just need to stay awake till about 8 tonight and then hopefully I will sleep through.

Ooh edit - just seen your post, Chicken. Thanks, Lovely, safe and (almost) sound (asleep) :)
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Hello I hope everyone’s enjoying the snow and weekend. Some combined pleasures for the weekend.
1.We have had a nice weekend and visited the in laws, we put the world to rights and were fed a lovely roast.:o
2.On the way back last night it started to snow and we woke up to a fantastic day can you tell I am a snow fan??:)
3.Cooking a pork joint not doing a full roast just adding some mash and veg to keep it easier on the stomach, we went out for a nice walk in it using some snow trax that worked amazingly well and coming back into the smell of a little roast cooking through was lovely.
    4.Loving watching the snow fall.
    5. Couldn’t help myself took some snow photo’s:rotfl:

Thanks all for your good wishes re my foot, and thanks Kittikins for the suggestion about the silver dressings - I'll get some tomorrow and hope they work as well for me.

Skint - that's really bad about the PCSO position - I know there have been some organisations that have got in trouble for that sort of thing, as it's collecting information under false pretences.

VJsmum - welcome back to the cold, snowy UK!

    1) More snow today - this time the very fine stuff that makes it look like a giant baker is sifting icing sugar over the garden. :D

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) Counted out the coins in my puddy bank and now have £67 of change to pay into the bank tomorrow. :money:

    4) Worked out - rather belatedly - why I'm so short of money this month: it's because I was so ill at the start of the month and forgot to move some money from my savings account to my current account, where it should be picked up and automatically transferred to a higher interest savings account - you can't do an automatic transfer from the first savings account so I have to remember to do it manually, which is rather annoying. The realisation is something of a relief, as I couldn't work out how I'd spent so much more than expected this month, and now I know I haven't.

    5) Changed the bed so I've got nice clean sheets to sleep on tonight - always a pleasure. :)

    6) Made a chicken pie for dinner, using a new topping recipe but my favourite filling, which involves a large glass of white wine: I've now got the rest of the bottle sitting in the fridge, and I'm really struggling to think what to do with it. ;)

Have a good evening, all, and stay safe in all the white stuff if you've still got it. (I haven't - it's all melted here. :()
Back after a very long break!
  • CCP hope your foot gets sorted soon and thank you for mentioning jam sponge yesterday, had to send OH out in the snow for some, just about to tuck into it with a generous helping of custard!

Sparrer :rotfl: at Willybat and Pea. I share your embarrassment at having to shout silly names in fields :p

Broomstick thank you for the fruit sponge recipe, sounds yummy and easy to do so I will be attempting that soon.

    My five for today;

    1. Started off the day being lazy, lovely lie in and lots of tea, biscuits and frivolous television.

    2. Then got my decluttering head on and blitzed some boxes that I had piled up in the spare room. I thought it would upset me looking back at old memories but it actually cheered me up, it was nice looking back at all I have achieved, the places I've been and the people I met along the way-some are no longer around but I am grateful that I had the opportunity to share some of my life with them.

    3. Sitting with OH and eating homemade soup, just nice to have a few quiet moments together.

    4. A no spend weekend :j

    5. Candles lit, kettle on and some jam sponge and custard

Must look at bigfreeze i was an august 1963 baby and my poor mum had to walk out the front and round the back to get to the outside lav cos the back door froze :-(
    1) watched italy unpacked episode 2 while sorting through music room. Much decluttering done
    2) repurposed biscuit tin i dont like to hold table salt, found scoop and went out sprinkling salt on front garden path. Hoping this will also kill the weeds :-)
    3) found nice basket which i will repurpose as 'hamper' for mum's italian-themed bday pressie for wednesday
    4) put out stale biscuits for birds
    5) found 12 scented candles which i shall enjoy. Honestly, decluttering my house (which i thought was gonna be a horrid chore) is like xmas. Keep finding things i'd totally forgotten about
