Evening
VJsmum - your trip sounds amazing, the most exotic place I get to go for work is Wakefield
Pleasures for today,
1. Bit of a lie in, OH got up at 7 to play golf and I went back to sleep for 2 hours. Bliss
2. Needed to pop to Mr.T for a few bits I couldn't get yesterday. Had some vouchers that got me a few things for free and got there as the assistant was filling the RTC area with Topside of beef all reduced to under £1.75 each so picked up 3 for the freezer as I knew I had room as had just taken out some beef brisket for dinner. Also got DD some sushi for 33p and some stuffed chicken thighs for a £1 which we will have for dinner tomorrow.
3. Beef brisket slow cooked for dinner which was yummy and enough left to do for OH lunch tomorrow. DD having sushi with her lunch tomorrow.
4. While oven on tonight for roasties also cooked a SO chicken which will do for lunches for the rest of the week. Chicken all stripped down ready to use.
5. Just watched an interesting programme on Malta during the war with OH and DD. We knew some of its history but not quite just how bad it had been for the island.
Hugs to all who need them0 -

A very pleasant day filled with pleasures.
Work! Back to.......was okay, my main colleague was having a moan too after I told him I was looking elsewhere, he already knew I was thinking of it. Manager is still on holiday
Lovely drive home! Gorgeous day, not too hot and big blue sky with tiny little puffy clouds.
My once filthy car is now gleaming.....hoovered and washed. It was covered in poop de possum! Have sprayed my wing mirrors to see if the spider who keeps making webs will disappear.
After a bad night got OH an appointment at doctor today, so new medication will hopefully make a difference .he managed to walk up to chemist with me to get prescription.
My number one son has been offered his number one choice of universitywe are all delighted for him and he took all the hugs in good stead!
Took 4 BIG bags of stuff to charity shop.
Girls pulled all the dead stuff from veggie patch. Will try again!
Finishing work at my proper time today, none of this working on an extra 2 hours! Was so nice to be home at the right time!
Very delicious steak pie, roast spuds, broccoli carrots and peas for tea.
That's me! Not bad for a Monday. Have a lovely day whatever you are gettingip to and I'll read your pleasures tomorrow!0 -
Aw peeps - don't be jealous. Truth to tell, I'm struggling a bit. It is tough being here as a single woman, one gets a lot of attention and most / all of that is unwanted. There are few "touristy" areas where you can escape to and I have been on my own for 3 days - apart from a meeting this morning with a bloke I didn't know. it is quite a culture shock that I would have liked if OH had been here but is difficult alone and hotel rooms are hotel rooms the world over.
Still I shall gloat about the good bits
1. Had a good sleep - albeit chemically aided to avoid jetlag (only Nytol but did the trick - the problem is waking up!)
2. The weather - sorry but it has to be said that i'm not envying anyone snow.
3. Chappy I met this morning, whose course I am here to sort out, was a lovely smiley man who gave me a tour of Colombo in his car.
4. Finished just after lunch, so I went to a place I knew had shops and cafes and had a lovely cup of Darjeeling (is that wrong in the former Ceylon?) and some carrot cake and bought a green sparkly tuk tuk christmas tree decoration for the princely sum of £1 (tuk tuk, not tea and cake)
5. Had an argument with a tuk tuk driver who was trying to rip me off. Annoyed me at the time but is quite funny now.
6. Booked my ticket to get a train up into the hills on Saturday before I leave. The sort of trip that would cost £50 in England or US but was £10 here.
Nearly bed time - night all, stay warm. It's chilly here - I'd better turn the air con down :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Today's five are;
1. Snow. I love snow. I wasn't too keen on the two mile round trip I had to walk to attend my hospital appointment though, it was snowing really thick and fast the whole time I was walking, the moment I got in it stopped!
2. Being warm and having a roof over my head. I cant imagine being on the streets in this weather.
3. Warm food in my belly and lots in the cupboards. Again, one of the things that is easy to take for granted. It's so easy to feel hard done by with the cost of things nowadays but I really am very lucky.
4. Ian the dog developing snow madness, I swear that it is a real condition! :rotfl: every time he goes out in the snow he runs round like a maniac, flicking it up in the air and trying to bite it on its way down. You can tell he is having so much fun. I was so happy just watching himhe really is my baby.
5. 2 lots for £1 (8pots and lids in total) on some ideal size, individual portion pots. Perfect for the jellies and mini trifles I plan on making. Cheap treats for my notorious sweet tooth!
Keep warm and safe folks xComper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150
