Welcome dingdongsaving
Thanks for the pattern Chicken, it's just what we want
CCP everything crossed for your foot to respond to anti-b's
Broomstick hoping things get better for you
1. A round robin of chores, surgery, bank, post office, tip, petrol garage, farm shop, and Mr M just for lottery tickets. Don't have to go out again til I meet with friends on Sunday
2. Got some bargainous veg in the farm shop, huge cauli, leeks, mushrooms and sprout tops (I love sprout tops!), plus dog and cat bits all much cheaper than supermarkets.
3. A builder friend called by this afternoon. He's coming to lay some patio next Friday, weather permitting, at a very reasonable price
4. First week back to OS weight loss forum. enjoyed being a loser once more
5. Used the new shredder for the first time, filled two sacks!
6. Had a lovely chatty phone call from DS this evening
7. Had to park near Mat Alan and a garden centre on my rounds and didn't go into either. So proud of myself!
Sweet dreams0 -
CCP, do hope you respond to treatment, and Broomstick, hope things aren't so complicated in the very near future.
Positive thoughts up to Scotland for Mhagster to get new tenants ..
VJ'smum, safe and enjoyable journeys. I wonder if the Sri Lankan Higher Education minister is wondering what to wear to meet the UK educationalist?
1. Doing my job fully again - the new contract having finally taken off.
2. Was at DD's for the children after school. Took over the Estonian chocolates & wafer biccies. They were enjoyed.
3. Playing QI board game with DGC. After a bad call by me and good luck/good intelligence by her, DGD won again. She seldom loses board games. Lady Luck loves that girl. Not as much as I do, though.
4. Ooodles of unconditional love on arrival at house from DD's dog. Plus a big dose of cupboard love.
5. Decluttering continues apace. Have joined a new thread, No Buying Unnecessary Cleaning Products to encourage me to continue to manage well without my cleaner.
Your pleasures, thank you.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Hello Saturday evening here, has felt gloriously cool here all day ....lovely!
vjsmum you are welcome to the heat.....have a fab time at work
1. ' slept in' until about 6 am which is an improvement...seems I was just about last up!
2. Nice Saturday scone and flick through the papers with OH , he's not so good at the moment and we think more surgery will be in the offing , he needs to build up some strength before then though, the journey home and back took a lot out of him.
I re read all my posts on here from last April/ may the other day and I'm amazed at how far we came and what we were going through then and or the support you people gave me then. Re read all the emails I was sent , all 1500+ of them! .....guess who's been wide awake at silly o'clock!
3. It is peach and nectarine season here...very cheap and very delicious. The smell from fruit bowl is gorgeous.
4. Have 4 bin liners of stuff for charity shop...had meant to take it over but fell asleep and woke up after closing time ( by 5 mins ..wil take over on Monday, promise!)
5. Went to library and watched casualty, I only have one more episode to watch to be all caught up.
6. Pumpkin soup for tea.
7. Have inherited my first ever iPhone from OH. He got his new one from work so I get old one and DD2 will get my phone. I'm not the most technical of people....quite an old fashioned girl so will need to work on my app skills! I'm more of a phone is for phoning and texting but I suppose I should keep up with the century I live in!
Have a lovely Saturday whatever you are getting up to...off to blend some soup!0 -
5 for yesterday/this morning so far (I find it hard to keep my days in neat 24 hour units!)
- DS's band's first ever gig, amazingly professional, awestruck. And I was allowed to go, even more amazing!
- My seed order arrived today, yay! Can't wait to sow something but need to read all instructions carefully first
- Off for a walk and brunch with DH, will be nice to actually sit down together for a change!
- Another bit of work has come out of a project which looked complete, so a bit more money coming in
- Lovely feedback from the bit completed so far, despite my expectations of it being a tram smash...
Enjoy Saturday all!0 -
Couldn't update yesterday as we had a power cut from about 9pm until the middle of the night (no way of knowing when it came back on). Since we are on top of a hill and there are electric water pumps down the road that work intermittently with no power, the only thing to do is go to bed!
Anyway, yesterday (Friday) wasn't a bad day at all.... here are my pleasures:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The builder came round and did the complicated thing with the guttering and now there is no rainwater overflowing and making the alleyway like a lagoon! He got the parts for less than he thought too.
3) Phoned the Special Services lady about smaller son's new school and I am seeing her on Tuesday. Also emailed smaller son's solicitor to let him know how things are going.
4) Booked in a man to mend the storage heater downstairs. It hasn't worked for a couple of years but it was the mention of snow that prompted me! If it gets really cold, the stove just isn't quite enough to keep the whole house warm. I've only needed the storage heaters once (winter 2010) when it was -12! Very pricy to get Mr Dimplex in but they will split the cost over 12 months.
5) Still pondering over snow, brought a massive load of logs in which are stacked either side of the stove now.
6) Posted the boys' thank you cards for their Christmas presents.
7) Changed the bunkbeds.
8) Went swimming with sons and my brother and did 700 metres.
9) Made a shepherd's pie for tea.
Woke up this morning to all the downstairs lights on and everything I could not do last night waiting for me (washing, washing up etc....) So I'm going to tackle that lot in a minute. Boys away this weekend at their father's so should get loads done.
And it's snowing! (but melting as it hits the ground).0 -
Wells Ding Dong, welcoming to the thread of nonesenses and ...
Sparra, yous can have Cat on Monday, I do drive bys.
5 Never let a miss go without a good bang. Keeps me peckers up. And cornflakes as well.
4 Urgh Ruggers off day today. Blah
3 Just catchjing up on twittersphere and someone has left vtheir fiddle on teh train. I would help, but I cannot stop larfing. What use could I possibly be when I am not intent on catching the train and I live more that 150 miles away!! Perhaps better care of Valuable and Attractive items springs to mind. I should tweet back and see what happens. Yep, second account, "Aye up lass, your boy's on the Fiddle!"
2 So the Lawyers are salating their lips in prospect of making more [STRIKE]misery[/STRIKE] money out of others misery.

Evening all.10) Friday. :j I just hope my new phone doesn't turn up too early tomorrow and spoil my planned lie-in!
1) My phone did turn up early, but I simply brought it inside and went back to bed.
2) Delicious brunch of baked beans and a poached egg on toast.
3) Playing with my new phone. I struggled a bit at first as it's totally different to my previous one, but I think I'm getting the hang of it now.
4) Decided I'd had enough of the scented candle I had out, so I put it away and replaced it with a different one. I love having a box of different scents so I can change whenever I want.
5) HM curry for dinner tonight - I've never yet managed a HM curry that's particularly tasty so I really hope this one turns out well.
Frith - I envy your snow - all I've had today is constant torrential rain.(This picture gives you an idea of what it's been like!)
dingdongsaving - welcome to the thread - it's always nice to read pleasures from new people.Back after a very long break!0 -

I'm back - temporarily - problem's not yet sorted but the lovely norobugseems to have got DS1 (not me so far) so all our plans for the next couple of days have completely changed and I have acquired an extra day because plans for Sunday have been cancelled (assuming I stay well and I intend to).
So I have pleasures to report:
1. The change of plans means that I've allowed myself a bit of space today for more sorting and I now have all my non-wardrobe clothes sorted and culled to a minimum. I've allowed myself to hang onto two pairs of trews and a swimsuit to [STRIKE]grow[/STRIKE] shrink intobut everything else fits and gets worn.:j
2. I've also tackled the first-aid/medicines and toiletries stuff and that, too, is now in-date and will be used.:j
3. Allowed myself an afternoon nap which I really needed today.
4. Rice cakes, a very nice pear and some even nicer brie for lunch.
5. DS2 did the washing up last night without being asked even though it was DS1's turn. I think that's a first! Incredible.(DS1 was too busy being ill.)
Have lovely evenings everyone.

1.Popped out to check out the local charity shops and struck lucky, we picked up a dinner set we have been looking out for a decent one for about 6 months now and picked up a nice enough 5 plates, 5 side plates and 4 bowls for a whole £5, really chuffed.:D
2.Stopped in at a little cafe and had a wonderful dinner it seemed to just be wonderful
3.Picked up some fresh fruit and veg from the market
4.Our evening plans changed so we are veggying.
5. Looking forward to the weather they are “promising”:T0
