Morning
CCP - Hope your foot is healing
Mhagster - Sorry to hear your OH is not feeling so well and hope he is on the mend soon. Good luck with the job application.
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Went to next not so nice town for food shopping as it has Aldi, Lidl, Iceland and Asda. Shopping was soo much cheaper than I have been spending so worth the effort.
2. Remembered to take a bottle of water and a small snack with me so wasn't tempted to buy anything extra to eat or drink.
3. DD perfect timing of finishing Rainbows and being where I would be getting off the bus so she helped carry the shopping home.
4. DD had eye test and no change in perscription but have still ordered some new glasses as most of cost covered by NHS perscription and this gives her a spare pair.
5. Went to see inlaws. SIL looking much better and able to move around now and is starting to eat a little bit again. Had a naughty but nice fish and chips for dinner with them.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Hello from 7 degrees north. I know that cos I've just been to a restaurant of that name!
Tealady - glad SIL is on the mend
Mhagster - sorry OH is having a tough time again.
Skint - I loved Warhorse, made all the better for having Mr YUMberbatch in it. More of which to follow
Sounds like Quartet is a film to see - is it a bit "marigold hotel?" I liked that
So, Sri Lankan pleasures
1. Can't count much from yesterday as it was flying, flying, flying. Birmingham to Dubai, Dubai to Colombo. I like Dubai - A LOT, so it was a bit of a shame to be passing through (I know, your heart bleeds don't it?). But flights were fine and I got a triple bill of Mr Yum in Parade's end (shown in 3 episodes) and then a wallow in My Fair Lady.
2. Transition through airport and immigration was fine - got a swanky new sticker in my passport. Eyes were on stalks for the taxi ride from airport - I have never been anywhere like this in my life, total culture shock.
3. People seem friendly though - but I think it is purely to part you from your money :rotfl:
4. Had my first tuk tuk ride - a little hair raising but exhilerating.
5. Walked alongside the Indian ocean - the waves were amazing and it is so hot.:T
6. wonderful meal in one of the hotel restaurants (see above!), sea bass with tiger prawns - for £4.50!!!:money: sat outside on the terrace, overlooking the infinity pool, candlelight, glass of wine. Perfect and romantic - shame I was alone
I am away to my bed as it is 8.30pm here and I've had 1 hours sleep since Friday night. Have a good Sunday all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
vjsmum - wow! That sounds amazing! Your description is really vivid.0

Some pleasures for the last couple of days;
1. Came in under budget for my first ever attempt at the weekly spend challenge :j had £35.00 to play with and only spent £15.00. Think I will put the leftover to one side and save for a biggish treat, possibly a tablet.
2. Kind of MSE takeaway as it feeds us for two days and we used voucher codes :money:
3. Bargain t.v stand is up and looking lovely.
4. Lovely friends being really understanding when I dropped out of a hen do at the last minute because of disability related problems.
5. Food shop being delivered later, enough to last us until 3rd February (apart from top ups of milk, salad etc.) meaning hopefully lots of NSDs for the rest of the month.Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -

Ah, msmoneysaves. PM me and I will easily liquidate your £20.
Cannot believe that over half Christmas pud has gone already. It will not see January out this year. Well, well fed, watered the nows. Time for feets up. Where are my slippers.0 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday) so far.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Porridge and blueberries for breakfast.
3) House now immaculate, even pulled the oven out and cleaned the sides.
4) Quick walk (was minus 1).
5) Homemade bread (made this morning) and homemade soup (from the freezer) for lunch.
6) Listened to the Archers Omnibus whilst tidying up.
7) Actually feel quite organised for the week ahead which is full of appoinments and meetings again. Apart from the 2-5cm of snow forecast overnight... also my sister rang to say she can't drop smaller son off at the bus in the mornings anymore which is going to be quite difficult. It means having to take him to town by 8am (20 mile round trip) and take bigger son with me and is just so awkward.
8) Boys back soon and baked potatoes in the oven to help them re-fuel after pot noodle weekend!0 -
DundeeDoll wrote: »chicken love the picture of you riding the exercise bike watching the racing. Did you speed up as the excitement mounted?
Nah - Dundee the going was too heavy for me ! And NO I didn't feel the urge to put my old racing breeches onGlad you liked Quartet - a really lovely film.
VJsmum - The trip sounds fabulous - I LOVE TUK TUKS !! - technically a scooter with a milk float body ... great fun !
mhagster - I am sorry to hear about your OH being unwell x
5 for today
1. Washing dried on the line.
2. Beef casserole in slow cooker with jacket p's - put a pie in for Mum to save her putting her oven on as mine was on anyway , as she only lives next door I took her over a jacket p. with her pie.
3. Laughed at the tiny terrier in her hm knitted coat until I cried. She looks funny and yet really cute .My sister found out yesterday from previous owners that she hasn't had ANY jabs, or worming for 3 years  and had a head injury following an accident last year - might explain why she is a bit scared of cars .She is going to a vet tomorrow to check her over and get her up to date with anything she needs .Always animals before humans in our family.
4. Hens seemed happy to be out in the garden as its not raining - they put themselves in when it rains.
5.Great nephew acting the clown aged 4, doing the Gangnam style dance while singing to it at the same time ... very funny indeed, and bliddy brilliant:rotfl:
Have a good evening - No white stuff here yet !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
VJsmum what memories you're bringing back. Love the tuktuk rides, we had 4 in one once which was very cosy! Enjoy the hospitality and the food, and the weather. Jealous
mhags sending good wishes and healthy vibes for your DH. Hoping he feels a little better, tell him to get well now in true OS style
Tealady pleased your SiL continues to improve. Fish n chips will make almost anything better
Skint Wow, £2.50 for a duck! That's amazing, I'd have thrown out the Christmas food and bought the rest of them
1. Remembering the days we got dressed in bed, ice on the inside of the windows, warming coats by the fire before we put them on to go out. So my first pleasure is ch. As my OH used to say 'any idiot can be cold' so blow the expense, I'm not going to be!
2. Sadly my plans to visit DM today were scuppered by the forecast for snow but it hasn't yet, which is a silver lining. Planning to go next weekend, if it's clear
3. DD's import (Korean Jindo) qualified for Crufts 2014, that's all the dogs she's ever owned/bred gone through now :T
4. Good meeting with friends at lunchtime, some new faces came along and say they's like to return next week. I hope so. Also a lady who had just moved to this area from Devon, we had a good chinwag about the area we both know well.
5. Roast lamb for dinner. Okay it was just a chop but don't believe older people can't afford to eat properly, we're very well looked after compared to some countries. Oh, and the last French slice for tea, a pack of 3 which was 50% extra, reduced from £1.20 to 40p
Have to feed the menagerie (late and they're letting me know) and wash up then settling down to watch Hotel. Enjoy your evening

Evening all.
sparrer - I've never come across that breed before and had to g00gle it - what handsome dogs!
VJsmum - glad your journey went well and you're having a nice time beside the Indian Ocean, enjoying hot weather and delicious food. (I'm not jealous, I'm not jealous...)
1) Second NSD in a row. I was tempted to go up to the shop when I went to make toast for breakfast and found the bread had gone mouldy () but I found some crumpets in the freezer and had those instead. :money:
2) Sunshine nearly all day, with the promise / threat (depending on your POV) of snow tomorrow. :j
3) Checked up on my strawberry plants in my mini greenhouse and they're fine - one has even got a totally unseasonal flower on it.
4) My early daffodils have buds on. :j
5) Checked a couple of rail vouchers and found the expiry date is 3 months later than I thought, so I can plan a trip away at a slightly warmer time of year than I had initially planned.
Have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Vjsmumm the tuk tuk ride sounds fantastic
Sparrer, I remember ice on the inside at my parents hse
No white stuff here either as much as I would love some, seriously would other peoples jobs survive if they got it so wrong -all of the time.
1.A blumin awful nights sleep, so I got up again went to sleep at 5 and laid in a bit.
2.I got all enthused about growing our own veg and spent time talking and on the web researching it all, then realised we need to spend a day clearing out the greenhouse,
3.Lamb Casserole and dumplings seriously delicious, all rtc picked up some lamb fillet for 58p.
4.Just a day of meandering / tidying and washing loads in between researching on the web.
5. Oh oh oh a NSD, looked at ordering things on the web but didn’t:)0
