    nearly bedtime again!

1.woke early and because of new time difference I got to have a nice chat with my sister and then a friend.

    2.Saturday scone :)

3.Dry and warm, loads of washing dried.

    4. OH was looking for some particular photographs from yesteryear so we spent a pleasant afternoon looking through 20 years worth of photos.....I was slim once! Had a good laugh at some of them!

5,Nice tea of slow cooked steak pie, mashed potatoes, carrot & turnip, peas and baby sweetcorn. Very yummy. Totally stuffed.

6.In between laughing at photos, finished my library book, had a snooze and took some still decent but too small shoes/wellies to charity shop.

    have a lovely day

It's going to be a busy day today!

    Looking forward to...

    1) Porridge and fruit and a cup of tea in a minute.

    2) Rushing to Comet to use the money they gave me on a gift card when they couldn't mend my old washing machine. They suggest I use it quickly before they go bust competely. :-( I'll be getting sister a toaster, brother a microwave for his new barn conversion (they both agreed these will be their Christmas presents) then I don't know how to use the rest, other than perhaps stockpiling light bulbs!

    3) £shop for some Jubilee/Olympic themed flashy lights/hat/similar for the bonfire party later tonight.

    4) Off to Jackfield Tile Museum (part of the Ironbridge Museums) to get the encaustic tiles that will form my new kitchen windowsill next Thursday.

    5) Big tidy and clean up while no sons here.

    6) Bonfire party! When I was little, we lived in a semi detached cottage miles from anywhere and I was friends with the 3 boys who lived next door (later sharing a house at Uni with the youngest). Now we are all old and have 7 children between us but we still have the bonfire every year in their orchard and it used to be 2nd only to Christmas in excitement when we were growing up. :-)

    7) Last phone call to boys this evening because they are BACK TOMORROW!!!

    Evening all.

TILAMS - I make that 90 insomnia.gif. Knowing your interests, though, I initially thought you meant this.

DD - I hope you ran out of sheep and got some sleep in the end.

CCP - quiz is next week. I am alright at most subjects but not sport

Ah, right - well, good luck for next week, then. Sport's the weakness in my pub quiz team, too - I'm good on Formula 1, and just about passable on football and equestrianism (but not horse racing, although I'm getting better thanks to this thread ;)), but anything else is beyond me - and I'm meant to be the team's sports expert!

    1) A very long lie-in this morning. I just couldn't wake up - every time I surfaced, I promptly fell asleep again, and didn't manage to wake up properly until nearly lunchtime. :o

    2) Mooched up to L1dl - walking rather than taking the car was quite OS, although I find their continental meat selection so irresistible that it rarely turns out very money saving. :o

    3) Received the poppy pin I'd ordered - as I've never managed to keep a paper poppy going for more than a couple of days before losing or destroying it :o - and also a pair of very nice poppy earrings, which were RTC but, as they're for an excellent cause, don't count as buying jewellery anyway. ;)

    4) Managed to get most of my OU essay written, despite a fault on the OU website which means I can't look up any of my online sources.

    5) Soup and pudding night tonight, which is something I love and don't do often enough.

Have a lovely evening, all, and enjoy the fizzyworks! :D (I don't know why I call them that - I just always have! ;))

ETA - I've just remembered another, fairly major pleasure: I finally received the results of the tests I had on my heart (only 11 months after the problem was found, and three since I had the test ) and everything's fine - it's about as minor as a heart problem can get and still be detectable. That's a relief, as you can imagine! :)
Back after a very long break!
  • mhagster what a lovely list of pleasures

((CCP)) excellent news about your test results am so pleased for you x

Frith enjoy your bonfire party. Lots of explosions going off here

CCP - that's really good news about your results.:)

    My five for Saturday:

    1. Delish scrambled eggs for lunch.

    2. Some useful vouchers through the post including one for a free tin of that posh soup I've discovered. :T

    3. Listening to an omnibus radio play on iplayer.

    4. Having a phone call with a friend where we couldn't stop laughing - good tonic.

    5. Taking a break at the moment but I am in the middle of a major sorting out of paperwork. Have promised myself that I will stop when my DSs come back from the Bond film, but there's still plenty of time and I'm making a real impact on the chaos which is very cheering up.

Have a good evening everyone... back to the shredder...

btw when my ex and i split up it was almost like once the decison was made he was relieved to have got everything out in the open about how he was feeling and it released all the tension. I was just resigned to it in the end.
