1) DH has been mending bits of old hi-fi for re-use. I do admire a man that can fix things.
2) I've got a couple of my rainy-day jobs done - mending my patchwork quilt and taking up some second-hand curtains properly. I enjoyed the sewing very much and it didn't take me very long. I even reused the thread someone had used to tack up the curtains. How MSE is that? Didn't lick it though : P
3) Used up the rest of a jar of mincemeat teaching DS how to make mince pies. Unfortunately, they're irresistible.
4) Took our new neighbour a card. She was very chatty and I almost have her life story now but I think she feels at home already.
5) Hugely annoyed at the T3sco website this morning - I'd converted my vouchers into 2x so that we could get a new bed for DD and then it wouldn't accept the vouchers. Spent 15 minutes waiting for some help and then, apparently, they couldn't do anything. The trouble is that the special offer on the bed expires at midnight tonight and the voucher thing won't be fixed by Monday. Bought the bed anyway and have now realised that the vouchers (if they work tomorrow) will pay for all the new bedding. I'd completely forgotten that I'd need a new duvet etc.0 -
1) have survived the day
2) the sun shone and got washing out
3) went to tell senior colleaague who just happens to live round the corner. He was lovely. I wanted him to know at the mo i want to work through it but if i drop with stress i might be too stressed to say so can he keep an eye on me
4) lovely mum took me to st andrews for lunch
5) lovely dd2 has come home. She's taking a year out and worried she'd be in the way. No no come look after your mum
6) managed to get in touch with ds so he now knows
7) so now all the children know can start telling the world starting with best friend who's the dds goddad
8) then the vicar
9) then another good friend roundthe corner who has plied me with wine so thanks for the warning sparrer. I think it would be easy to succumb. And well done you
10) had a nice hug from OH. I do feel desperately sad but i do know she has tried her very best. Despite all we've been through she's still my best friend
Doctor's tomoz. Hoping i sleep well tonight. Love to all.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Oh DD it all seems to be galloping on a pace, doesn't it.
Sparrer - that's kind of what I meant. your resilience astounds me.
PQ - you'd best not meet my OH thenI'm much better at fixing things than him, and I ain't much cop
Skint - know what you mean. DD is now earning and able to pay for things herself. She bought a t - shirt at Blood Brothers and she didn't need to whinge for it and I didn't need to explain why she couldn't have it. She just bought it. Works for me.
For today
1. cleaned, decluttered and tidied DS bedroom. Looks beautiful until tomorrow when he comes home :rotfl:
2. Managed to sleep till 8.30, which was a relief considering I didn't get to sleep till 12.30
3. Have finally started working on my Korea stuff. I need to finish within about 3 days as I am going next week
4. Roast chicken dinner - plated up from left overs last week and frozen
5. Thank goodness Downton has finished. WHat a load of old tosh but I couldn't stop watching, relief it's over.
More cleaning tomorrow. And more Korean stuffI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Dundee Doll massive, massive hugs, wishing you comfort and strength. I cannot add much more than this.
I've now been divorced for 19 years, I could have really done with a crystal ball in that first few years. It was hard. It got a lot, lot better. It's been up and down since... but threads like this make me focus on ups.
Sparrow - what incredible courage you have. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
I posted on Thu night at length, forgetting the forum was going down.
Now I can't recall much of it, other than being so pleased for Frith. and Smaller Son over the school, wishing Chicken well for her trip .. I know there was much more. Oh well.
A collection...
1. Live music evening with friends.
2. Making a huge stockpot of lovely bacon broth that DS demolished over two days. I got some too... He has been known to fish out an entire ham hock and eat that, independent of the broth, after coming in from a night out. Leaving me the veg and no meat.
3. Free biccies from vouchers, plus other freebies.
4. De-cluttering bedroom and rediscovering all sorts - a luxury body cream, books not yet read, Christmas presents bought in spring/summer and forgotten about.
5. A lovely ride on the trike in autumn sunshine - just to do shopping, but it was great not to cycle into rain or a howling wind. Discovered Wilko's had shedloads of under half price bargains, and a coupon gave me 4 luxury loo rolls for a quid.
6. Re-organising finances yet again. I'm OK for a while, which is good, it's given me a little bit of breathing space.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Sparrer - There is a recipe for the blanket but you will have to bear with me whilst I put it into words as not very good at explaining things.
DD - You are being very strong, hugs to you
PK - Hugs0 -
I will catch up on the thread later
1. DS1 came home for weekend
2. It was too watch rugby which we won.
3. Met a friend and had coffee and long, long chat - much needed by both of us.
4. Started on xmas shopping.
5. Saw couple of firework displays from the car - just drove up the hill and when we had finished watching one display (£18 each a ticket!) another display started for 20 minutes.
6. MIL staying with friends over christmas!! She is forever telling us they are like family and she wants a family christmas.
Not quite sure what we have but ours is worse than everybody else she knows.0 -

OMG - how rude!!! At least you have listed it as a pleasureSounds like it will be better without her. We have my MIL for the 4th year running - not sure what we did to deserve that
She's alright but has a habit of repeating either herself or somethng you told her a minute ago as though it had just occurred to her. I don't think it's dementia related just has to fill silence with something! She also has truth tourettes.
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all
Thanks for all the encouraging comments, though bottom line is I am what I am and have to work my programme one day at a time. Re moderation TILAMS only you know how much suits you, like the majority you're sensible about it as most are and good luck to you, enjoy your wobbleade . A few can't be, it's an illness/allergy we can't afford to take risks with but would never criticise others for what we can't do. (In fact watching others get slowly more pickled is more fun!)
DD onwards and upwards, we're walking with you all the way
Tealady thank you, will look forward to the recipe when you can
ampersand thinking of you and hoping you're keeping yourself occupied (though when are you not?!)
villagelife/VJsmum - what is it about mothers and Christmas that they know just how to get our dander up? Will say no more on that subject as it's a sore one, but grrr.....
Frith the contacts at the get-together sound as though it could be quite helpful/informative for you. I',m just looking forward to the day, and it will come soon I'm sure, that you can tell us the situation with younger son has finally been resolved. Meanwhile you seem to stay on top, well done you
CCP I'm thinking how I can get dishy vet to become mobile, though I think Devon may be just a tad too far
mcculloch - trike? I'd fall off a bike and need to be greener, ditch the car sometimes, can't walk any distance cos of a secondary illness...you've given me food for thought. On the other hand I'm just wondering if my little legs would reach the pedals :rotfl:
I am going to pull up those bean sticks this morning.
After shower and late breakfast.
We'll see..
Have a sunny day whatever the weather S0
