    bedtime again!

1.worked on an extra hour as one of my colleagues took unwell and had to go home, we all just pulled together andgot on with things which was nice to see.

2.Had my break with one of my friends and had a nice blether.

3.DS had 4th exam which apparently was easy! Will expect 100% for that one then! 4 more to go.

4.Just made post office in time to send a parcel home for a birthday gift but postage is extortionate....cost more than the gift did. I need to rethink for next year, might just do amazon vouchers or something similar...any suggestions? I need to be able to pay from here and have them sent to person.

5.Popped into the very cool library (has been very hot and humid and horrid today) and sent some lengthy emails. Tried to watch GBBO masterclass but internet was slow there. Gave up in the end! They have had a table of discontinued books for a month ,fill a bag for $5.....today, fill a bag for $3.....borrowed $3 from DD1 and got a pile of books and magazines for about 2pounds.....that will keep me busy reading for a couple of weeks anyway!

    Have a lovely day!

clocking in early today as going to 2 bonfire parties tonight. all on about 2 hours of sleep last night. erg. thanks again for all your wonderfulnesses. i just love this thread.
    1) have got sleeping tablets from the doc so really hoping for a better night tonight.
    2) moved all my stuff from the upstairs bedroom and en-suite to my new bedroom. made me feel like i was doing something +ve (though have unceremoniously just dumped it all)
    3) told boss who was just lovely. she told me what a strong person i was and she didn't know many who would manage to get through what i've been through (my now ex-OH had gender reassignment 3 years ago)
    4) colleague who returns to Sri Lanka in the New Year has just invited me for a holiday January 2014 :D
    5) my DDs are lovely. DD1 has just been online and DD2 is home being lovely. DS has been online chatting to his dad about flats for next year. didn't mention my fone call so xOH didn't mention it either

Quick 5 now while I'm doing nothing.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Bigger son back to school happily enough.

    3) Smaller son did 6 worksheets! His old primary school have set him a most ridiculous amount of work. Can't believe he got through so much in one day.

    4) About to go swimming with my brother.

    5) New window frame man phoned to say he won't be fitting them Thursday - he wants to come on Wednesday instead! Exciting. :-) As I sat down after the phone call on my sofa, a sneaky draught hit the back of my head through the existing rotten frame behind me!

    6) Looking forward to Uni Challenge later and not doing very much. Stove going well and I can't imagine we will do anything except sit in front of it. Perhaps we'll get the Lego out.

Glad you're OK-ish Dundeedoll and you have my sympathy about the 2 hours of sleep. Sri Lanka.... :-)

Hugs DD, you are amazing x

    1. Found a penny on the way to school, tried to give it to DD, and then she gave it back to me, so both our luck would never end, bless her!

    2. Had a nice leisurely journey to the Swedish superstore where I ordered my new kitchen units!! Spending my redundancy before I get it... :)

    3. Nice chats to bank staff when I went in to get print outs of my statements so that I can apply for yet another CRB tomorrow at an agency. Very pleased I didn't have to pay for them, as I normally have online statementing.

    4. Good chats to school run chums whilst waiting for DD to come out of this afternoon's club.

    5. Made the most of being up that way by going to Co$tco and getting more milk and stuff and apart from a magazine (with 20% off so slighly MS ;) ) I didn't waste money

    6. Remembered to take all my medicine! This is a great feat for me as I tend to get to this time of the night and remember that I've not had anything yet, so big pat on the back for me!!

    7. Feeling quite calm about not being at work. Hope that feeling lasts for a good while!
  • DD: You sound like you are doing amazingly!

    1. I was at work very early, it’s a pleasure as when I leave at 4 on Friday I will not feel at all guilty.
    2. I’ve managed to meal plan for the week as last week not so good no takeaways but also no inspiration
    3. A lovely catch up with DB,
    4. Leftovers in a pasta bake cooking through and smelling good.
    5. An easy night where I should be doing things but really can't be bothered.:o
  • DD hope you manage to get some sleep tonight x

PK - sometimes we just need a night off. Dont beat yourself up about it "things" can wait x

    For today

    1. non working day :j

    2. found £1 in the road

    3. shopping came in on budget

He sent off his application for a provisional licence to DVLA and despite the fact that we attached results of his binocular field of vision test they are sending him to be tested again - at exactly the same optician - but at least they are paying this time. Also managed to get an appointment for next week for me to go to doctors for my flu jab

    5. Made a batch of chilli and spag bol sauce for next few days dinner

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

    1) A meeting at work went better than I had expected: the meeting room we had booked had been appropriated by someone else  so we all went and sat in the coffee shop instead. :)

    2) LO kale and bacon soup and a couple of cheese scones for lunch.

    3) Received the Xmas decorations I'd ordered online to take advantage of a special offer, and they look lovely.

    4) The essay that I thought was miles from completion is all done, subject only to a final check through tomorrow for any glaring errors. :j

    5) The fireworks seem to be dying down so I might be able to let mog out soon - he has no fear of fireworks and gets really annoyed that I won't let him go outside just because the people next door are setting off fireworks in their garden and I don't want to be the owner of a flame-grilled cat.

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

DD - sounds like you and your (ex :() OH have really been through the mill. More hugs to you.
PK - Unfortunately I have to do things tonight (says she - on here!!) though I'd rather be knitting

The last of my 5 days off - I need to go back to work for a rest :p

    1. OH and DS home
    2. They bought me choccies.
    3. Had coffee with friend this PM
    4. made vegetable bake for DD for tea - and OH and i ended up having it too. Made a nice change
    5. Finished cleaning the house! :T

Oh and an anticipatory pleasure for those of us who like R4 at 6.30 on a Monday - I'm sorry I haven't a clue is back next week. hopefully with my favourite "One song to the tune of another" my favourite of which was the words of "Every breath you take" by the Police to the tune of "Knees up Mother Brown" :rotfl: My OH thinks it's funny when I say that I don't get "Mornington Crescent" as that is the point, but - I don't get it!! :o
I wanna be in the room where it happens

The 'gang aft agley' brigade did, so I'm just in, with not one firework seen. I was but one among at least a thousand waiting @P+R for no bus, hence no journey to Midsummer Common. Why? because it has taken me over 2hours to travel under 4 miles from College salon. I recall posting a notorious roundabout pleasure-clean through/all green lights, last week. Not so ce soir - A14 shut down, big accident. M11 slip road to same, ditto. Gridlock, but needed petrol, so HAD to continue to Mr T.
    Now seeing this:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-20212274
    Salutary.

1.There will be a display somewhere at the w/e and I will find it.

    2. 1p reverbe at atm, 2 more at check-out.

    3. So empty as to feel bizarre in Mr T.,consequence of A14 closure. Atmosphere was positively end-of-term-y. Also meant masses of crazy reductions - down to 5>10% of original prices, but I showed restraint. Bought bread and similar for L. in next village[it never goes amiss there]and stuck firmly to basics for self....i.e. pains au chocolat. Just necessities. Surely I was buying them for dd[you NEED these and I'm being bossy], vjm, kittikins and any other interested parties?.....

    4. Over the w/e, my grape leaves suddenly turned pure butter gold, started tumbling, denuding the vine. This vine has trekked around with me, sometimes imprisoned in a small pot for several years, now in unlovely ground, nasty position, having been brought back from way beyond the brink so many times as to be unnatural, certainly undeserved. In heavy rain I checked the covered and palleted crates which hem it in atm. My eye was caught. It couldn't be....IT WAS!....quickly went in for camera despite downpour, to take photo of first ever bunch of grapes!!!...and saw another! They're well en route to the winey stage, but I tasted one - intense flavour and so utterly unexpected. Pics are ludicrous, cannot be made 'pretty' against brick bathroom wall, but I care not. Will I ever have any more?

    5. vjm-I, too, thought with joy of returning isihac when I heard the announcement.
I am also glad I heard news of the Mercury prize on Radio 4, of all places, awarded to Alt-J. So taken was I by the trailer of music which ended this item that I sought them on YouTube and soaked up every interesting, fabulous track I heard here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcVRrlmpcWk
[repeated this one to hear clearly sung, beautiful, intriguing stuff and feel self right into off-piste 60's sounds and times. Budgie? Marc Almond? West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band? anyone? Yet Alt-J are NOT derivative, but happily full-on original].

    6. Melbourne Cup soon to run...how can any horse but Red Cadeaux be for me?
    Field here:
    http://www.races.com.au/melbourne-cup/melbourne-cup-horses/

...but then again, 2-6-19 are calling too, before I even begin to look at Irish or kiwi connections and they all play a part for me on this special day. 2 countries shut down and NO-ONE is exempted their single bet in a lifetime, or in a workplace sweepstake.

    7. ...all of whom are being chosen in fun, on sheer Proustian whimsy, whereas deep and desperate is my driving on of Obama, who MUST win. I'll be up all tomorrow night urging him home, over that 270 line. The dirty tricks in Florida, limiting voting, are being legally challenged - in time, please.
