Deux pains au chocolat and cappucino au lit and I am gripped by ,,,
HOLD ON!!! YES!!!
It's being called that Obama HAS held.
He IS over the line.
I am ecstatic, so relieved
And yet, even yet, it's still not sure.....there are reverses, leanings to, tiltings
back....

Broomstick - hope you're okay and that the river doesn't do you and your loved ones any harm x0
-
So Obama has it - I think that's good.
Broomstick - hope you are OK - and Frith's bro's piggies
Ampersand - hope the stress levels start to come down. At least you got a good "blow" and earned your 2 pains au chocolate!!
DD - you are amazing!
Sparrer - I find Leek and Potato rather bland too, had some the other day that was a bit like eating baby food  IF I make it I tend to keep it chunky
Skint - LOL at your no.4. I have 2 to get through that stage yet
*waves* to everyone else
1. work was ok - spent the day doing my Korea work. It will help with my teaching next semester so dont feel too guilty
2. As the housework is done for another week decided to listen to the end of Harry Potter whilst doing the tedious drive to work. Certainly seemed to make it more pleasant
3. We won the pub quiz!! By a mile (well, 14 points). THe evening cost me £25 and I won a cheap bottle of plonk:rotfl:
4. A separate pleasure to 3 - we answered a film question with "Bambi" when the real answer was "Psycho" :rotfl::o How wrong could you be!!
5 My Mr T vouchers arrived for a restaurant so I will use them when I take DD out for dinner in London when we go on Saturday.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all
This from some American acquaintances who work in banking - 'Nothing to choose between them, while Obama (or could have been Romney) leads America further towards bankruptcy the upcoming No.1 Superpower is rubbing its hands with glee. It's going to be interesting, and painful.'
Now that's over can we please get back to normality?!
brizzledfw welcome, good to know we have lurkers who like to read us. Hope you can find 5 you'd like to share sometime
ampersand your walks sound so lovely, I can imagine being there beside you and seeing what you describe so well
Broomstick I know you'll be busy moving things today but hope you can spare a second later to let us know you're okay, and your boots don't leak
Frith I'm so sorry to hear about the pigs, poor creatures. Everything x'd the vitB injections will to their job.
VJsmum thanks for the tip. At the mo it's just bland/hot iyswim so I'm going to fry some bacon bits to throw in after lightly blending, see if that helps. Congrats on the pub quiz even if it did cost a bomb, hope the plonk took the edge off the pain
Better get dressed as I have a tray of tomatoes to puree, dog biscuits to bake and some crocuses which I found in the shed to plant. Stay safe, back later with my 5 S0 -
We went out to look late last night and the river was the highest I've ever seen. Thank goodness it dropped in the night. It's still high but not scarily so. Thank you for all the good wishes and, yes, we could go to my parents temporarily if we had to leave in a hurry. It's really made me focus on getting everything sorted now. At least I've made a start.
So a few more pleasures:
1. The Environment Agency, Floodwatch and Met Office websites. Am so pleased they exist!
2. The river dropped by 5am. I'll get DS1 to see what it looks like for real when he goes out in a hour or so.
3. No rain is forecast upstream of us for the next couple of days which gives me time to organise. We just need to be in a position where, if the flood warning came through, one of us could lift important things onto tables or upstairs in a matter of minutes, or we could all go out for the day already having done this and knowing that we were flood ready.
4. I slept OK in the end.
5. Romney didn't get in
Thanks again.

hello....just reconnected to Internet after buying a phone top up!
1.yesterday was a state holiday for Melbourne Cup ( a horse race) , however, the university does not take the holiday but we extra time at Christmas & new year. So family were off and I was working....but not too hard and got away a tiny bit early....meant I got home at the time I should finish. OH and I went to the cinema to see 'Argo ' , not sure if this has been released in UK yet, it's about the Iranian takeover of the American embassy in 1979. It was a really good film. I remember the hostage situation but was just a young girl so was not too aware of what was going on.
We had vouchers that I had bought ages ago, it's cheapest to go on a Tuesday and did I want to keep my vouchers and pay cash.....er, no thanks...I'll just use my vouchers thank you!
2. Work today was crazy mad and mental! One of my main colleagues is unwell and we were busy, so it was just ever so slightly busy! Went by a bit quicker though and once again we all just upped our game and got on with it.....left on time so that was a bonus.
3. Went to library , picked up a book I had reserved and used their Internet as I had none left.
4. Son had another exam today.....3 to go.
5. Have found a shorter way to work ( cuts off a large curvy, bendy stretch....but lots of parrots to be missed out on)
6. Yummy lasagne for tea....I do make a lovely lasagne( she says modestly) with salad.
Broomstick Hope you are okay and frith hope piggies are okay. Had never heard of such a thing before.
Everyone have a lovely day...off to bed now x0 -
