VJsmum well done to your DD on her success in the auditions

    Chicken have a great holiday

Frith - great news about new school but am surprised your younger son doesnt already have a SEN - on second thoughts with everything else you have described about his previous school maybe I am not surprised

Sonny - sorry but I does not like xmas pud.... or xmas cake or mince pies .....

Sparrer sorry to hear about the car :( and hope your poorly dog gets well soon x

Well I spent last night hiding in the kitchen, all livin room lights off I watched TV and didnt hear any knocking (mind you I did remove the doorbell too ! ;):D ) Local area seems to have survived apart from a smashed pumpkin at the end of our road..

    For today:

    1. couldnt access my credit card online. Usually check my accounts every couple of days. Had to phone bank and found out that my card has been blocked due to fraudulent activity  Some kind soul has attempted to use my card details to buy 2 x £10 o2 top up cards, open a yah00 account and buy plane tickets for australia airways :eek:

Anyway, the good news is that the bank somehow recognised they were fraudulent and the only amount that they managed to get was 1 x £10 top up card which the bank are going to reimburse me for. They have cancelled the card now and are sending me a new one. Scary !! Dont know if I dare use it again :o

    2. After all the stress I spent 1 1/2 hours at yoga and managed to relax a bit

    3. letter arrived from wilko after my feedback on their paint they have given me a £15 gift voucher :D

    4. lovely lunch out with DS at harvest er not OS but nice not to have to cook today.

DS has decided he wants to move to south africa and has been offered some private security work  but he says he wont consider it for 2 years. ( thankfully a lot can happen in 2 years to change his mind ;) )

    5. phone call from work to inform me that they have just had a big meeting and it has been announced that we are no longer taking calls :j:j:j:j:j:j and will be dealing with correspondance in future. Nearly cried when they told me

Have a good evening everyone x

VJmums - I have a neck like a turkey these days. Like a knee without the knee cap in it :rotfl:The old basted bird was looking a good colour until she stepped in some mud in the garden that squirted up inside the leg of her jeans. Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

    1) A rare apology from a notoriously short-tempered colleague, who obviously realised that biting off the head of one of the few people in the department to still be fairly well-disposed towards him might be counter-productive. ;)

    2) A nice chat with my landlord, who'd I'd called to tell that some contractors had left cables trailing across the alleyway beside my building: I thought he might not be that bothered as only I and the occasional workman go down there, but he was actually furious at the contractors for being so careless and has promised to speak to the manager to get it tidied up asap.

    3) Collected my sister's Xmas present at lunchtime - even with the petrol costs and delivery charge, it's a serious bargain. :money:

    4) Lazy meatballs and pasta for dinner tonight - both the meatballs and the tomato sauce are RM. :o (And thank goodness for posting pleasures, BTW - I suddenly remembered I'd left the pan over a high heat and caught it just before the sauce burnt.)

    5) Pub quiz tonight - always a pleasure. :)

Chicken - have a great holiday.

Skint - Thanks goodness for observant banks!

TILAMS - yum. I have nothing more to say.

sparrer - I hope poorly dog's OK now.
Back after a very long break!
  • Evening all,
    My five for today;

    1. A session in the kitchen  cooking and baking I mean :rotfl: did my first ever chicken soup but due to too many peas it went green  tasted lovely though and I made cinnamon apple flapjacks and weetabix brownies. It smelt like Christmas in my house today.

    2. Bought candy canes to attach to Xmas presents. I wrap in brown paper and string, make personalised tags and do something jazzy on top, this years it's candy canes. The wrapping takes longer than the shopping but I love it.

    3. OH has asked what I want for my birthday, it's five weeks away which means he stands a chance of getting me something on time :T He is terrible with memory and organisation.

    4. Dusk time walk with the doggy.

    5. Young apprentice starts in a mo and OH has just offered to make me a cup of tea.

Keep warm folks, cold here today xxx

Chicken - have a lovely hol, the food is lubberly - not all fish!
Skint - had something similar on my return from the states, someone had cloned the card
    Missmoneysave - mmmmm tea
TILAMS - making me regret not making christmas cake or pud this year. Going on my hols on boxing day so not getting too much in. No-one but me really likes xmas pud so I'm making sticky toffee pud instead
CCP - good luck in the quiz. I'm doing one next week - they are the one thing I would say I;m quite good at. I am a mine of useless information :rotfl:

    Todays

    1. OH and DS got to Germany ok - tho DS forgot his coat  OH will have to get him one. He did need a decent one so am not too distressed
    2. Cleaned the bathroom - but properly. Did all the tiles, went behind things, cleared out a cupboard
    3. Did loads of knitting watching Bleak House on BT Vision. I am a bit worried though that the series goes off the vision tonight and I have 3 more yet to watch. Definitely a more approachable form of Dickens
    4. Homemade Soup for tea. Yum and few weightwatchers points
    5. Harry Potter helping me with the housework

    Have a good evening all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

  • 1. NSD! :j

    2. Dinner was fishcakes found in the freezer. :D

    3. Erm, I can't think of any more! :o
  • 1) Made some cheese biscuits to use up some cashew nuts ... it's basically cheese pastry (4oz pl flour, 4oz butter, 4 oz grated cheese, cayenne and mustard) and you're supposed to put a pecan on the top but I did cashews and they came out yummy. Except now I have to eat these too. Have tried to freeze some.
    2) Was feeling very low this morning as I double-booked myself and had to cancel my hair appointment. I couldn't fit it all in because I didn't have the car then I realised too late that DH's car was on the drive because he is away and I just wondered if I could, in fact, get myself organised. Then I had coffee with my friend and she gave me an example of doing exactly the same thing, which was worth the £5 I paid for the coffees.
    3) Had an honest conversation with someone else about Christmas presents. I've swapped presents with 'girl' friends for years but we need to rethink it and I've decided to make everyone a little something as a treat rather than spending £10 or £15 each. It's amazing how many people are relieved about this.
    4) Had a chat with DD this evening and she's very sensibly gone out to buy some jumpers - from Pr1mark. That's my girl!
    5) Taught DS to make left over veg in cheese sauce this evening. I can't imagine, as a potential student, that he will be using this idea often. In fact, I wonder if he will cook much veg at all. I think he might get all his vitamins from bananas, but I've done my duty.
