Well the wind and the rain seem to have stopped and all is quiet around here.

Five for Wednesday, a funny old day really - stuck indoors and fighting off a sore throat (I'm winning).

    1. Sorting accounts - always helps.

    2. My mum asked me what I'd like as a present and I had the brainwave of a new pair of dressmaking scissors. Hope I get them either for birthday or Christmas, doesn't matter which!

3, Found this really fun video of 'Hands Free' on Youtube. I usually keep an eye on the Proms concerts but I didn't notice this one this summer.

    4. I tried a tin of posh organic tomato soup from our emergency stocks for lunch (a new brand that I bought because it was on offer) and it was the best tinned soup I'd ever tasted - a nice surprise. I'm now looking forward to power cuts.:rotfl:

    5. Working some more on the design of the (pirate) bag to see if I can write it up as an article.

Blessings and happy new year to those who celebrate Samhain.

Hugs to all that need them.

    Sleep well

    Evening all.

I'll merge a couple of days, if you don't mind, as I'm struggling a bit for five a day:

    1) Finally managed to find something I liked enough to exchange for some trousers that I'd bought and, too late, found didn't fit me properly - they wouldn't give me my money back but allow me to swap for another item, but I really struggled to find anything I liked.

    2) Received my freebie toothbrush. :money: It's a bit luminously pink for my taste, but it's never wise to object to the colour of a freebie! ;)

    3) Found that the soup I'd taken to work for lunch had gone off :(, but managed to get into town, buy some more, and get back to the office before it poured.

    4) Playing the London station-spotting game from this week's MSE email - I've got about halfway before getting stuck, which I reckon is pretty good for a non-Londoner. (My cockney ancestors must be turning in their graves!)

    5) Tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto on toast for tea - very yummy.

    Hugs to all in need.
Back after a very long break!
  • Get well all the poorlies
Chickenopolis: Have a fantastic time off.

1.An ok day at work a pleasure as I feel a bit more settled, tis early days.
    2.Came home to a cuppa
3.We went shopping for some essentials milk/animal bits, but found some rtcs we were happy to buy, by the time we had finished, they were re marking down so waited patiently and sheepishly asked if they would do I what I had and they did, 2 pre cooked chicken pieces from £4 to 40p, a pack of sausages, raw turkey and raw chicken all 30p and 2 sandwiches 25p, and 20p veg that we have just had. I did feel shy asking but it was worth it.:money:
4.Looking forward to curling up as shattered.
5.Looking forward to popping up to hospital tomorrow, getting the trains over straight from work in the evening.

gosh it's got late again so without further ado
    1) starting the new jar of marmite
    2) going for lunch with work colleagues. Not os but nice all the same
    3) saying 'treat' when child knocked on door and said trick or treat :rotfl: child didnt understand my humour
    4) walking to bible study. Takes about 40 minutes and it was very autumnal
    5) shared a bottle of wine (the best place tohave bible study is the pub)
    MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
    25 for 25: 371 / 625
    declutter: 173 / 2025
    frogs eaten: 10
  • I don't like Halloween either Tilams. Some of it seems a little dark.

    1) Made the first batch of mince pies today and have put most of them in the freezer. Except the ones I'm going to test.
    2) Decluttered the freezer a little by taking out a couple of vegan dishes that were stashed in there for when DS's gf was around. The butter bean chilli made a lovely lunch and it felt like virtuously eating up left overs.
    3) Wore my gilet all day, fur side inwards, instead of using the heating.
    4) Had a friend to tea. DH is away and so is hers but she has builders taking her kitchen apart so a home-cooked meal was welcome. Resisted the temptation to shop for the meal and made it all from whatever was in the fridge.
    5) A friend has sent us the money owed since August. Since it is the end of the month, extra funds are very welcome.

I agreed with so much of this post but this was the best bit. Did you know that squeezy Marmite doesn't seem to 'age' so quickly after you've started it? Well worth it if you are the only Marmite eater in the house.

1 Took the car in for it's annual service/MoT and the mechanic brought me home . They do every time, they're very kind.

    2. While I waited for their verdict I cleared out 4 ring binders, sorted out some paperwork, and went through a big box of pens, throwing away all the ones that didn't work. Still have a good bunch of pens left, trouble is I was looking for a red one and they're all black, blue or green!

    3. The garage phoned, the quote for service/MoT was almost the same value as the car :(. Fortunately with a bit of robbing Peter, borrowing from Paul etc., I managed to scrape the money together. The next few months are going to be very tight but I mustn't complain, she's 11 years old and I've been very lucky so far. I've already searched and found some OS C-word forums which I'll be making good use of.

    4. Went to a fellowship meeting and met a lovely lady who was visiting from a different area. We found we have a lot in common and exchanged phone numbers, she also showed me her little camper van and my mind is now working overtime - I would love to get back to 'vanning and that size would be perfect for the dog and me. I can dream....:)

    5. Sitting here in bed warm and safe and hoping Sandy will blow itself out soon without much more damage

    Sleep tight
