An odd few days with no realistic time for posting, but plenty of dredgy, dragging, yet necessary other things, for which nothing concrete can be shown.

Kittikins - I wondered. Brave lady and Bless you! That step taken, other things will fall into place. You can't square what both head and heart know for a sticking point. pk's magic job wand now has you on its stardust contact list.

pk- v. glad to read that confirmation came through. Found myself anxious about it at all sorts of unrelated moments during w/e. When do you start?

Frith - a little sloe gin, therefore, depending on how far along your 10 annual drinks you are so far:-) I have a feeling your particular no-no is on atm. Museum of Curiosities, do I remember reading? Deffo a sloe gin. Yes, you do have so much to contend with right now. I am just full of admiration at your manner of dealing with it all. A huge difference one year on.

mhagster - every sort of congratulation. I'll add 'A huge difference one year on' for you, too. It really is good, good news and how good, refreshing also, OH's firm's attitude and backing.

Loved Frankel's ankle. Be brave, dd.

    In no order at all:

    1. reverbe's being scarcer than hen's toothypegs[even yours, chicken and OT], was gratified by not one, but two 10p finds on Saturday. Both were outside Banks, glinting in the rain.

    2. Picked and ate 3 more strawbs this arvo. More are coming on.

    3. Disruption of sorts as I headed for 06.45h gym, meant I didn't until after 3, by which time >20 schoolies were in. Postponed till tmrw, but replaced this by extended walk to surgery for stuff.

    4. Most of hier became another ooc mess of hours, but DID load trailer with DIY surplus after several hours of sorting. To dump, then nearly an hour to heave into so many different skips and the 'They' don't help, merely point or shout. I was then filthy, but went to Mr T for next Spitalfields petrol and laundry offer stock-up[insert in autumn mag]. £28 came down to £6 and I've a year's worth now.

    5. Also bought glorious £15 bouquet reduced to £1.20 for dear neighbour. So glad I did, she looked so weary. Husband has been rtn'd to hospital and back again, now more often delirious than not and violent of tongue to her, all part of tia aftermaths.

    6. Whingeing James, spawn of Lilian, behaving to brat-scrip as I write and NOW Lilian takes a call from a.n.other P.Morgan. I have my 1st communication from Archers' Anarchists to unveil later.

    7. Double jumbles plundered Sat - B and B++. Total spend £13, a lot for me, but what booty! Called L in next village to say this included sacks filled with things envisaged as Poss/Prob for her household. I'd thought it odd there'd been nothing from her for a bit and learnt why...an ex OH death, which her[and his]daughter was having to deal with. They've been house-clearing, bill-facing, etc.etc. It's a bit of a mess and one daughter is glad she at least had made some contact with him over last couple of years, as I recalled too. Other daughter wouldn't, didn't, unforgiving of the destruction his 'habits' wrought on them all. Noted 2 of L's sweet peas also are blooming again.

    9. Met up with D., former charity colleague, at jumble 1 and we had a tea.

    10. Have had a thought as I walked late this arvo, to download a village map index and walk one lane or footpath or street 1st thing each non-Gym day. Hope I can.

    11. Made a lovely lamb roast thawed from freezer last night. H-g beans and 3 potatoes, dug from rogue plant as I dug and weeded in the rain, post-dump run, until it was too dark to go on. Ditto rhubarb and one apple, with more rasps[200gms], all zapped for a porridge oats+cheapo nat yog mix. It is delicious.

    12. Planted out long-waiting wallflowers, pansies and various bits while they still lived. This all-day strange grey mist soft rain air is suiting my mood atm, or is it creating it? Not sure now.

    13. Some lovely books to tuck into.

    14. Anxious for Obama in the last debate tonight, will be listening.

    15. Awake around 2h to 5Live's rip-roaring phone-in: Grammar, Does It Matter? If so, what REALLY Annoys you? My bit was discussed and I was pleased my no-no's made the marvellous N. Gwynne 'writhe in pain'. It DOES matter. It's about learning to say what is meant and a learnt habit of clear thinking. It translates to so many things. 'Jaw Jaw, not War War' and 'speaking not hitting for lasting results' being two. Dismounting from hobby horse now.

    16. L. had an envy tale to tell. Guess who she met and had pic with during grandson's graduation last week? None other than Grayson Perry!

    17. An odd tale of my own, during some jumble find research today. It's a superb, fully hand-tailored Pal Zileri sartoriale wool jacket, looks brand new. It was in one of my £1-per-bag binliners. Interior label says it was made for XX. Googled this person[a very unusual surname]to find someone of this name features in a newspaper's published list of the 10 greatest fraudsters convicted in the UK! Further, that person's domicile is this very small village!!! Never heard of him. Can it really have been his? Might print the info out for interested Persons at Spitalfields....'quirky selling point' par excellence, I might have to call it.

Care and hugs for the ykwya's tonight.

sparrer, are you back yet? Hope you've had a terrific time. Dare I say country-wide cold snap is forecast by w/e?

I don't mean my posts to be so rambling long. They just head into stream of consciousness country.
    Apologies anyway.

CCP- thank you, but no. Sadly the mumflu is worse and the SAD seems to be responding appropriately to the dank and gloomy weather. I will kick myself up the (H)arris which is neither hairy nor endorsed and get on with it soon. Well, I am getting on with it now but kicking and screaming about it at the mo.

Kittikins - new beginnings all round then. <<hugs>>
    Sonny - good luck tomorrow
Ampersand - James needs a good kick up the Harris. But then so does Matt.
Mhags - hope your OH's first day back went smoothly
    Frith - Bleurgh

    Howsomever

    1. Finished dissertation marking. Mostly shockingly bad. I feel reigning in the timetable has resulted in a shocking drop in quality.
    2. Finally cleaned disgusting kitchen and bathroom. Neither of which were as bad as feared but had been left too long. :o Listened to a Ruth Rendell on R4Ex whilst doing so, although I am struggling to follow it. However starting an affair with the recipient of your bone marrow whose brother is a drug dealer cannot be A Good Thing.
    3. DD enjoyed her first day of Half term (DS is next week), she went out for lunch with a friend, conned me into paying but - and here's the shocker - I GOT CHANGE!! Quite a lot too!
    4. Had saucisse aux lentilles for tea and pretended I was in France
    5. Booked the next flight to Korea. Better sort out the teaching materials.

Got a pile of ironing to tackle and DD to collect from lifesaving. It's no wonder I am so low - I really don't let up. I may just iron her trousers and a shirt for DS for tomorrow. DD and oH off to Cardiff for a couple of days - she is dragging him round the Dr Who exhibition.:rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens

When at my house we had White Tiger which i loved and Sisters which was OK but not as good imho as White Tiger. Looking forward to the Mantle book. So far never been disappointed by a booker winner
    1) annual leave so lazy morning catching up on the paradise, newsquiz and miranda
    2) finished the deep fried jalapenos and cream cheese in breadcrumbs for lunch
    3) gave £2 to beggar. He used to sell the big issue but looks in sorry state. Can't decide if i should have bought him food rather than cash...
    4) got my tattoo :D OH took one look and said it's huge. Hmmmm. I think it's beautiful, but yes is quite large ;-) totally concealable by clothes.
    5) devilled sausages for tea (made with the left over cocktail sausages)
DD2 is having total melt down at uni :-( so am seeing her Thursday. Options are take a year out, drop out, transfer to another course and uni. Poor lamb.

Chickenopolis - this is a very rare thing for me to end a long-term (or any) relationship sensibly, and to be honest, it feels odd.....I'm used to hating the ex and wishing them infested with the fleas of a thousand camels or suchlike, or being devastated and crying myself to sleep as they've been such a !!!!!!, but this, well....yup, it is all a bit strange to be the one ending it rather than pushing and pushing the other party until they tell me to naff off! Maybe I'm growing up in my old age?!?

Hello, posting at a reasonable time instead of bedtime!

    1. Thanking you all for our good wishes re OH, he did just fine and went back again today:)

    2. Work was okay, went by reasonably quickly, some days just drag out!

3.I'm not sure if I had told you we have a crows nest in one of our trees( think it was a long post that disappeared!) anyway, mamma bird had baby bird down on our back grass this morning. Then when I came home it was there ( mama was on the roof watching) it came right up to my back porch ,so I took some photos of it. Quite sweet in a baby crow kind of way.

    4. My boy had his second last day at school today, they had to dress up as famous characters, DD2 back combed his long hair, he borrowed his dad's wing collared shirt, my dads tie from our wedding and went as Einstein!
yesterday was a career day.....he went as a spy.....minimal effort....wore black top and trousers! dressing up is so not his thing!

    5. home and DD2 and I walked to post office and then popped into DD1s shop for a few bits and pieces and got staff discount. A lovely afternoon, not hot but pleasant enough.

KittikinsI'm sure you'll be fine. Sometimes you just have to what feels right. I'm a great believer in being true to yourself..which is not always an easy decision .

Have a lovely day whatever you get up to....off to make corned beef hash for tea.

    Morning

Kittikins - Glad you made the decision that was right for you.
Ampersand - The village index is a great idea, whilst training for the moonwalk I discovered parts of my local area that I didn't know existed and found a lovely little oasis of green very close to the office that will be great for spending lunch times in come the summer.
Mhagster - so good to hear that your DH had a successful first day back at work

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. Low spend day, only spent 8p. I find that it is the unplanned spends that are my down fall so have put £10 in my purse to last for the week on unplanned spends and anything left at the end of the week will go into my savings tin. Hopefully this will be a challenge to see how little I can spend each week.
    2. Still sticking to everyone taking packed lunches hopefully will last.
    3. Forgot to get something out of the freezer for dinner in the morning but managed to quickly defrost some mince when got home to turn into a chilli.
    4. Getting an invitation to a wedding next month. It is going to be a small wedding so was suprised but very pleased to get an invite. Just need to decide what to wear but am going to be good and recycle something that I already have and not buy something new even though I would quite like to:o.
    5. Seeing DD getting more comfortable in her own skin each day, she is finding her own style and getting much more confident in herself.

Hugs to all who need them
