'Hello! I hope i'm ok posting here?' -
Of course you are! Everybody is very, very welcome here and I hope you're now snuggled up warmly, hot drink on bedside chest maybe, ready to catch the sandman.
Welcome businessgirl - agree with chicken - a v. nice post indeed!
I'm not far behind you. It's so cold and we're to have a month's rain overnight - joy of joys!
I'll squeeze in 5 more:
1. Checked things outside that need to be kept dry - and they still are.
2. Sod-it-all guilt-free use of car, not Bus, to have skin test before hair appt on Wednesday. Collected some RHS mags en route and found bouquet hugely reduced for dear neighbour, when buying carrots chez Mr T...so more or less justified.
3. Made a good Potage Wrinkly, classically known as Potage Bonne Femme. But Wrinkly applies to the well-used-up Veg., rather than moi-même....altho' THAT'S only a matter of degree. Tastes scrummy.
4. Gathered enough raspberries to pile in a dainty dish on crême chantilly[LOTS}with more on top+sparkly pink sugar, for same neighbour. She's a Saint beyond the calling - husband back in hospital again and it sounds as though a young Irish Doctor has picked up on the fact that's she's been doing this for 16 years now, with no respite. He seems to have questioned her acutely and astutely and I am glad. Something may happen...
5. Glad so many of us are feeling happy enough about various OUGHT-to things just not mattering. A real advance for all of us.
6. About to resume 'The Good Thief's Guide to Paris' which I'm enjoying greatly - author, Chris Ewan[has a website]. I see there are others....:-)

CCP - just don't do the typical woman thing of trying to do too much too soon, or regarding the pain relief your Dr/surgeon enables as substitute for time and healing.
Well done Frith - a better day for you all round. Son and exclusion - your special boys are going to be fine in their own lives, not too far off from now, away from regimented school shaping. It just doesn't work for some. You are a gifted and educated woman, so remember that's all in the mix for their futures and will out when the Time's ripe!CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

CCP - take care
Frith - heed Ampersand's very wise words - sonny often has similar too.
Hi Riversong and Business girl
Kittikins - I am starting "healthy living" today too
Chicken - hope your no. 5 is 2 separate jobs
For today
1. After early tears DD went into school ok and came out smiling (I had to pick her up as she forgot her train pass - very much NOT a pleasure)
2. Nice lunch with pally
3. Bought a frock for a posh dinner on Friday. Got to play the bosses wife so something more on the elegant rather than the "something tarty for a party" side of the scale. Only cost £24 from TK maxxxxxx - however still need bag, shoes, and hold it all in undies
4. cleaned the bathrooms and put up coat hooks in DS bedroom as OH didn't do it this weekend
5. Made 2 weetabix cakes this PM. One for the lunch boxes and one for a mcmillan coffee morning on Friday.
First day of teaching tomorrow - and I've copped for an 11 - 5 stint - I really must finish preparing it.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening all, especially to the newbies.
1) It's been a blessing to have a car to go to work in and a jumper to wear while I was there today. I wore the jumper with a scarf that Mum gave me: it has odd colours but makes an outfit out of a couple of otherwise sombre items of clothing.
2) Am also wearing a pair of ancient earrings that I love very much but which have been in the bottom of the jewellery box in pieces for a couple of years. After reading the Hoarding Thread, I made myself go through the box and mend them.
3) Chilli from the slow-cooker for tea. I'm going to try cooking a chicken in it tomorrow.
4) 'Studied' with DS this evening. I have a book to plough through for OU and he had some Physics to do, so we sat in the same room and quietly got on with it. I'm sure it will be a long-term blessing.
5) Looking forward to a family birthday outing tomorrow - we have to travel but someone else has offered to pick up the bill and we will (mostly) be together for the first time since New Year. It's also a good opportunity to take a couple of cards and bits and pieces to pass on to other people.
Hope everyone is feeling cosy. Get well soon CCP!0 -
It never rains but it pours! Sons back from their father's after tea, bigger son had fallen off his bike whilst there, landing on his cheek bone. It swelled up to the size of a hens egg (literally) so a hospital trip and it might be fractured so we'll be back for an X ray in the morning.0

Welcome newbies
(((Hugs))) CCP, feel better now
1. cooked a carrier bag of pears given by the owner of the orchard at the end of my garden, they'll be lovely with my morning porridge. The cob nuts are just beginning to fall too, the tree overhangs my garden so I get quite a bowlful each Autumn. Still in the garden the Morning Star lily I was given for my birthday is coming back into flower
2. The man who was coming to measure for patio couldn't, so a good morning was spent tidying all the surfaces which all seem to have acquired little piles of papers, books etc. Looks neater now, I wonder how long it will last
3. Flu jab, it will be a pleasure if I don't get flu
4. Central heating this evening. What a blessing
5. Cleaned the kettle with a vinegar solution. Love OS ways
Night night
eta Frith (((hugs))) to bigger son, hope all will be well and nothing broken0 -

CCP ((gentle healing hugs))
Frith sounds painful for poor soul. (((hugs))) to you all x
for today
1. Car in for MOT and service. Walked home from garage in pouring rain and howling gale so was a tad wet when got home. Thankfully a non working day.
2. Hurrah for chocolate brownies. :j The ones I made yesterday were rockhard this morningmore of my culinary skills !! I made another batch and nuked them for half the time and they are lovely and moist and probably wont last long (I've had 2 already
)
3. Car passed its MOT (sigh of relief) and I had booked it in for a full service as it hasnt had one for 2 years (£200  ) but when I picked it up they said that it didnt need a full service as I only do a few thousand miles a year, and so they had done a short one at half the price
4. Bought DS a camera in @rgos half price with 1/3 off memory card for his SAfrica trip/early xmas pressie
5. Roast chicken dinner tonight nom nom and lots of leftovers to use up. Made some bubble and squeak out of leftover mash, veg, plus onion and mushrooms/sweetcorn lurking in the fridge
6. DS is panicking about his eyesight again. He wants to join police force and also wants to apply for his provisional licence but we cannot get a straight answer out of DVLA about his condition (its not listed on their a-z). Anyway I found a lovely optician near us who carries out field of vision tests for DVLA and when I explained she said that normally she charges DVLA £45 for tests but she would carry them out for £15. Have booked in for monday so fingers crossed

Riversong - welcome back x
I have always thought it and now I am sure ...never trust a man with thin lips .. like the teacher who has allegedly gone off to France with a pupil . I hope the girl is "safe" but I feel for his poor ,poor wife and the girl's parents.
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Ouch, poor Master Frith, big hugs xx0
