Hello new chums, love the posts :)

    Weekend's goodies....

    1. Sunshine yesterday - DD and I had a glorious picnic with lots of YS fruit salad and cheapy bargains from the village shop as it was a spur of the moment thing

    2. Got up to date with the washing.....or at least until today's lot ;)

    3. DD went to a fab party at the park yesterday, I enjoyed chatting to people and reading a book on the other side of the park :)

    4. Popped down to Brighton to see a friend this afternoon and ended up staying for scrummy dinner and sorting out a few times for her to come to us, us to go down for a sleepover in Brighton, that kind of thing

    5. Babysat at a friend's last night and her toddler daughter was beautiful and, as she always does for me but rarely for her parents, she slept like a proverbial log. They want me to move in, reckon I'm a baby whisperer!!

    6. Said friend is going to have DD for me when I go to a course one weekend soon, can't remember when, so an overnight and most of the day job so I can get to London v. early

    7. Guilty pleasure.....put the heating on for a little while when we got back tonight, mmmm, it's nice to have a warm house, and I have already paid for the oil.....so may do it again before November!

    8. Going to phone OH in a mo to chat through our weekends, he's been with his son, we've been gadding about

    9. A lovely friend at church has suggested that we meet up with our respective offspring for dinner soon, we may make it a weekly thing as she'll be passing by our house twice a week after a new job, and she's a sweetie, as are her teenagers.

    10. My parents come back from their holiday tomorrow, so looking forward to chatting to them and updating them on the exciting developments in my career change plans :)

    11. We came back from Brighton with most of the cake we took down with us, I think friend is on a healthy eating kick as the dinner was amazingly delicious and amazingly healthy, so chocolate cake doesn't quite seem to feature prominently in that kind of lifestyle....
    DD was very pleased!

Right, time for bed, sleep well all x

    Welcome newbies
    Get well now poorlies :)
Skint I've had my car 11 years, locked myself out 14 times and now the rescue services ask me by my first name where I am! I do have a spare key in my purse but often lock the purse in the car as well :o. DD and DNeighbour have spares too but I'm never near them when it happens

    1. The rain - a pleasure as it filled my water butt and perked up all that's left in the garden after yesterdays weeding-out session
    2. Gammon off the bone, an egg from the six a friend gave me this morning and hm wedges for dinner, apple and blackberries from my garden in a pie to follow. All very OS, cheap and morish
    3. After many hours poring over the laptop I found a fantastic 4* hotel in Barcelona with a suite, meals and private spa bath, its own mini bus, plus flights perfectly timed to give us the best part of an extra day at each end, all for the same price as some of the hostels. Just takes a little time to uncover them :). Now to work out the itinerary...
    4. Watching Gandhi. Seen it before but this time I felt completely drained, such a powerful message we still don't heed often enough
    5. William and Kate: The South Seas. What a lovely programme

    Sleep well :)
  • Dundee - very good re Chicken/egg ....I missed that one:D

Kittikins - chocolate cake should figure in everyones diet ;)

Sparrer well done with the Barcelona deal .

I know where I would like to put Andrew Mitchells bike ..who does he think he is talking to the Police like that !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

Morning all and newbies etc. Seems we now have an 'owl' with our cats amongst us.

:heartpuls from Jenny to the bedridden.

5 Thankgoodness I missed the service yesterday. Seems everyone was given he no water guilt trip fifty miles beggar talk. Still makes me wonder, when I lived in a remote town in Arabia, water was not always on as so much was lost in distribution, so you stored up to twenty one days in tanks in your villa. Water would be available about once a week in the winter, less often in he summer and you filled up. Potable water you got just like petrol from the garage. In this country because we re densely populated, we wash our cars in distributed potable water. Now we are kiddied on about grey water. All too me codswallop.

4 Got thee rant off me chest, decent cough an it is raining.

3 Gals, how can you travel half the length of the country with a chocolate cake and then return with the said thing. You need to be with me this morn kittikins, as I think you are not very well. Still mes and Ms Sonny had our steamed chocolate sponge yestday for pud and scrummied the lot with thick custard, all homemade.

2 Offs to ENT this morn at GRH.

    1 Today is for you.

Good luck to all this morn.

Just had to turn local radio off as it had entered codswallop mode, talking endlessly about nonsense trying to make a molehill into a mountain range. NFI. Apparantly some kids who cannot get a job at sixteenm cry when they go to some finishing school for shelf stackers. Get a life, I was gone at 16 apprenticeship, then the RAF.

Too many of us are losing long posts. Major irksome.

    1. So Saturday was marvellous - Castle Hill Open Day with a Blue Plaque unveiling for Jim Ede, founder of Kettle's Yard, another of 'my' true Homes and my main reason for going. It was the last of the sunny days, wonderfully organised, with talks, walks, free entry to Cambridge Folk Museum[another hidden treasure]and chats with interesting peeps.

    2. Earlier en route, collected a perfect freecycle rocking chair, from a beautiful old Jacobean Hall, in roseate brick, close by but prev., n/k to me. A stunning place, if a bit ramshackle, lost and lovely. It must break the hearts of freecycler's parents to leave it. With new chintzy cushions I'll sew, will make perfect gift for M. in France.

    3. Good visit Friday, in so far as it can be. Long haul is about keeping hope alive and offering possibilities.

    4. So distant is Saturday's lovely sun already, that the pleasure of extra blanket, snuggly fresh bed and hot water bottle now feels like a standard. But pleasure each and every one of these still is and will be, every single time....and it's 24-26C back down there.....

    5. Thompson and Morgan have had multiple blonde moments over a long ago order via Mr T vouchers. Just now lovely lass - T&M Customer Service is superb - is setting e'th up again with a goodwill voucher, she says. On verra. I do want to plant my wintersweet.

    6. Chance spot: silversmithing course at a nearby village College starts January. This happens to be one of my Before Clogs Pop wanna's, along with bookbinding, so fingers crossed for positive reply.

    7. Another 600gms of rasps hier. Ate a dish full, with sliced nana and chantilly cream. Frith, you're another 2kg ahead in the weight loss concours.

    8. RS, previous trainer, was in College gym when I called in on way back Saturday. We'll do a new prog, re-start this week. I write this now as a Published Committment, so will have to. Stood on their scales.......yes, repeat 'so will have to'. Where are you just now Frith?

If you have to be out today, come back to Dry and Warms. Kettles on for those who need and in the meantime, we'll walk to work with mhags under a Southern Spring sky and associated colour and sound.

Evening all....I'll try for a lengthier post and hope it works.

Well today I was the boss at work! Everything went smoothly, we all got breaks and we were all out the door at the proper time! Tomorrow I have a couple of events to organize and I get very stressy every blooming time! Never had a problem yet but still stress each time. So will be glad when they are over.

Sunday was sunny which hadn't been forecast so that was a bonus.
Up bright and early to go for a swim at 7am, both girls came with me ( half asleep the pair of them! ) swam for 45 minutes then waited 40 minutes for girls, I have no idea why they take quite as long to get ready. I brought a book in anticipation!

Wee dog all excited to see us when we came back....he was shocked to have been woken at 6.30am on Saturday so we gave him a lie in! He went back home at tea time.....exchanged for a lovely box of chocolates :) it was lovely to have him.....not the prettiest of breeds but he has a lovely character.

my lovely OH made dinner last night, mince and tatties , dumplings(made by me) and carrot, turnip and peas. It is the first time in about 6 months he has cooked and it was perfect. He has just started back on proper food instead of nutritional cartons and it's good to see him have a bit of an appetite. Still poorly and back to see specialist again tomorrow.

Kids are off school for 2 weeks, hurrah! Long lies , no uniforms and packed lunches.

Nice chat with my friend this afternoon .

Went to supermarket enroute to petrol station ....had to buy things for work tomorrow....discovered I had no bank card.....ever so slightly mortified and did not have enough petrol to get home and back again so had to phone OH to rescue me! He rescued me then had to follow me to petrol stations and pay for my petrol. What a star :)

A snacky tea tonight, eggy sandwiches, chopped up fruit and cake.

Think that's me...here goes fingers crossed this posts!

Ampersand - I'm in my living room looking out at the flooded road! Haven't started weight loss yet.

Horrid weekend. Felt cold and ill for much of last week. Realised in the early hours of Saturday that I had another bladder infetion (I must have had more than 20). Had to wait for boys to go to their father's at 10am then drive to hospital for antibiotics. Am allergic to penicillin. Found out Sunday I'm allergic to these antibiotics as well so have puffy face, dry eyes and very itchy, sore mouth. :-( No hives, though!

I'm being good and doing all the CBT stuff I've been set. I know its a means to an end but I'm finding actively having to list all my worries 3 times a day and think of solutions is making me twice as anxious as I was before!

Went to OH's on Saturday and lay about with a hot water bottle and one of his poor old cats had 2 fits. :-( Got terribly over anxious and worked up on Sunday thinking about his working away AGAIN and ended up crying and driving off. :-( Apologised and he seems to have survived.

    Here are some pleasures!

    Saturday

    1) Seen promptly at walk in centre. Given more antibiotics than I need so I can just treat myself next time.

    2) Went to sainsburys to get prescription and a fireman was at the door so I put mum and dad's name down for a little visit from the fire service and a free smoke alarm (they refuse to have one....)

    3) OH on good form, nice tea as well.

    4) Watched Casualty.

    Sunday

    1) Felt better as the day went on :-/

    2) Made a malt loaf.

    3) School friend came after tea.

    4) Sons back from their father's.

    5) HAD A GOOD SLEEP!!!! First one in over a week.
  • Good Morning all, it is grey horrible and rainy today :( but there are pleasures to be had!

    1) Managed to motivate myself to go to the gym this morning and I felt brilliant afterwards

    2) I woke up to the lovely smell of my soup cooking away in the slow cooker, lunch for each day of the week for less than £2.00, always good.

    3) I always think tea tastes so much better from a pot, but it seems such a waste to use my big family size teapot, so I bought a pot for 1, from QD on Sunday for £3.00 and had tea this morning that was divine. I just need to quilt a little cosy for it.

    4) I remembered to get the bolognese out of the freezer so no rushing about before Guides tonight.

    5) Remembered to pay the next installment for daughters school trip

    I am a roll here!
I promise that I will do my best.....
