  • :rotfl:DundeeDoll... shes now a Learning support assistant at local college ;)

Not sure I will get past the initial sift anyway :( as first page asks how much sick leave you have had in the last year and I've had 9 days. (Well actually its 11 but I'm not counting 13/9/11 & 14/9/11 as these will have dropped off by the time they contact my employer, I dont know if this is the right thing to do, but will give it a go anyway - I send application by email closing date 14/9/12 and dont sign it unless I attend interview which will be 1st week of October)
    0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗

Retired at 55 & now living off the equity £10k a year (until pensions start at 60 & 67).

    Evening all :)

(((Hugs))) to the poorlies and all who need them

    1. Line dried 2 wash loads and ironed what needed it
    2. nsd
    3. good (?) session at gym, pt 'suggested' I introduce mat work which he'll incorporate into my routine at my next review. Feeling pleased at how far I've come in a few months, even if I do think it's killing me some days :o
    4. friend phoned, arrangements for tomorrow brought forward so I have to pick everyone up a couple of hours before originally planned, so ran round the house cleaning like a mad thing - ie my usual self ;)
    5. Just going to pack for a weekend away in Hayling Island, perhaps not the most glamorous venue but 500 friends are taking over a holiday camp so should be fun. Am looking forward to seeing familiar places on the way there.

    Night night, sleep tight :)

Skint - It is unlawful for an employer to ask about your sick leave until they have offered you and or a pool of candidates the job -set out in the Equality Act 2010 . They cannot ask this as it would fall into the disability and health arena ....Trust me I am right on this.It would enable employers the opportunity to "screen" out (discriminate !!) individuals on this basis . They should NOT be asking this question .Might put you in good stead if you pointed this out to them ???.Skint I would be happy to send you any info you need about this !! Long story....but OH won a high profile employment tribunal because of this very issue.

Mishmogs - ((hugs)) to you !

    5 for today

    1. What a difference 24 hours makes .. me harping on about a nice little job I had seen, less hours and pay but SO me and OH loses his job today! Not a pleasure but its just life really taking the rough with the smooth and all . However I can see another tribunal on the cards....Turns out the company have appointed and got rid of 17 managers in 2 years .

2.Received lots of amusing texts from my colleagues.

    3. Completed some feedback on some products I have tried for free and will receive 25 Mr. T points for each.

    4. Fish and chips from shop for tea -I had a pancake roll instead .

5.Wartime Farm . Loved it , but I feel that the dog could have dug better mole drains than the one they made .

Have a good evening all !

    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. £3 luncheon vouchers arrived in the post
    2. DD declaring dinner one of my best ever. Beef noodle soup type thingy that I made up as I went along using bits out of the stores.
    3. DD getting notification of her college placement and it is nursery that is quite local to us. She has to phone and arrange to see them either tomorrow or Monday morning so fingers crossed they are nice.
    4. David Wier at tonights paralympics :j
    5. Jonnie Peacock :j amazing athletes all of them. Wish we were there again tonight

Hugs to all who need them
  • Hugs Chicken and your OH, life has a laugh sometimes, but you still sound happy.

My leg/ankle hardware is playing up something rotten but I have lots of pleasures.

    1. I had a result, I spent all of yesterday evening looking for jobs and looking for cheap garden furniture and came up trumps with pre-loved and a lady 5 miles down the road, a littlish table 4 chairs and a parasol literally as new with packaging I asked her why she didn’t return it as only bought last week, and the response, “they don’t do that sort of thing!! Ah well we certainly can’t complain in time for a lovely weekend J, really chuffed great timing, picked them up, and it's really "posh" - well for us anyways:j
    2. Feeling positive even when the day job isn’t:o
    3. Remembered to do a load of washing for work clothes tomorrow.
    4. We have run out of a lot food eggs bread staples etc, it’s making for interesting combinations used up all veg in a toasted ciabatta with seafood and “things”, hmmm hope it’s all ok, tasted ok.

    5. I was looking into proper career changes, going to university etc but I was then I saw the charges for the course I am interested in and it was prohibitive, a pleasure to be looking to change and trying to figure out how to do / what to do.
    6. DH has found us a freezer on ebay, we’ve been looking for a 2nd hand one for 18 months now.
  • Purple kitten, have you looked at the Open University? I've enjoyed it.

    1) Went to the hairdresser and got my hair recoloured, washed and blow-dried for half what most of the salons around here charge. It's a very basic place but the staff are lovely.
    2) Made lunch for a friend from what we had in the house, rather than panicking and nipping out to the shop.
    3) Took some more stuff to the charity shop and came out with a lovely silk B0den top for £5.99.
    4) Managed to eat half a small chocolate bar by sharing with DD instead of gobbling the whole thing myself.
    5) Pickled nasturtium seeds with our smoked mackerel salad instead of a bought bottle of capers - it pays to preserve!

Chicken - sorry to hear about OH's job, that's really rough :( Thanks for the information re: sick leave, pertinent to me too as I had a month off earlier in the year for my leg operation and am dreading being asked that.

PK - wow! re the garden furniture ... that little old Lady Luck again :D Ditto comments re the OU , they were great for me - enabling me to earn and learn at the same time .

Kittikins - thank you re OH . He will bounce back.... with his Stephen Fry intellect coupled with his Ronnie Biggs type sneakiness will no doubt allow him to continue to charm future employers.... ;) It worked for me :rotfl:
