CCP- your posts reflect what you feel about Calicocat - you will miss her.

PK - I would love a bit more of "the good life " . Being off sick at the moment I have had the oppotunity to think about a lot of "deep stuff" what makes me tick etc . A bit like OT , I am happy being outside planting, plotting and picking! In all weathers as it happens.I feel unsettled at the moment in a good way iyswim?

    5 for yesterday

    1. The weather :)

    2. Having a cup of tea with mu Mum in her garden and seeing a patch of rainbow in the clouds - she said it was aeroplane fuel . I don't think it was .Still quite weird to see.

    3. Tidying up the garden ... v. slowly .

    4. Made OH and Mum some cottage pie in the slow cooker (what in this weather!!) . Loving my ancient £6.99 vale slow cooker .My Mum gave me some of those roll out of a tube and cook bread rolls , which were really quite nice. Although white bread is the food of the devil on the old tummy bloat front :rotfl:

    5. Nice chat with one of my sisters who lives a long way from me.She has epilepsy and I can tell when she "drifts off" on the phone , she has a lovely partner who looks after her very well.

    Hello, some weekend pleasures:

Sunshine today, out in our tee shirts and the braver amongst us ( as in my girls) had their shorts on.

Got a wee bit of gardening done, we have 2 large raised beds for veg, so we got them all cleared and the soil turned over. DS cut grass, DD2 planted seeds and I repotted my new lavendar plants ( 1/2 price as they were all wilted...er just needed a big drink of water!) did a bit of pruning too, so we were quite cuffed with our efforts. We have a ginormous garden and will take a bit of work to maintain it but got a good start today. I went round with my camera taking arty photos of all my spring flowers.

DD2 needed shoes and tights for her school play so we went to huge supermarket sized charity shop and got a ghastly pair of white heels, a gorgeous pair of polka dot wedges ( new) for me and a skirt for me. And then we got 20% discount as its student Sunday !

Hurrah finally our new swimming pool has opened so cheap tickets today, so took kids there this afternoon. They had fun, I wrote a letter at side of pool. Will go in next time.....I am so not into communal changing rooms though.

Went with kids and DD1's friend for pizza, it was lovely and very cheap, half of what we would be if we went for Thai food.

Did my shopping and got lots of offers.

Made soup with rtc veg packs, made veg and then leek and potato, have 3 big parsnips left over and another soup pack chopped up and in freezer already to make more soup.

Made a sponge cake and raspberry and apple crumble, using up rasps that have been lurking in the freezer. I really need to use what is in freezer....will soon need the space for ice cream and ice cubes!

Nice phone calls with friend and my sister.

Think that's a few pleasures, had a big fall out with my son and his totally laid back ( horizontal ) attitude to life. He needs a kick up the backside. I screamed, he shrugged shoulders, I stomped off, his dad had more words and then we hugged , made up and had a game of scrabble ....he won, so was quite happy by the end of it!

Have a lovely day....Call the Midwife just started so off for some crumble and will sit down for an hour.

Dundee:- I was nosing through your 50 list and love the postpals idea.
McHags: Loads of pleasures, love the new swimming pool.
Chickenopolis:- I completely understand where you are coming from, and very similar I would like to be outside in general, outdoors or just near water is where I am best thing is I have been thinking about it daily. I know a fair few people who have upped and moved either emmigrated or downshifted. with neither DH or myself in 100 percent health the words of my mum ring round my head of enjoy time as it seems by the time retirement gets here theres to many health problems or in my mums case, my dad retired 1 day and my mum passed the next, I just don't want that to happen.

It was a bit of a bit of a spend day yesterday, we went to Mr T late last night, and it was one of those where it didn’t have anything we wanted or any good deals, but because we haven’t shopped in about 3 weeks we spent £50, I managed to get £5 worth of vouchers off it and 5p of diesel so mixed bag. Did pick up a rotisserie chicken rtc to £2 but can’t believe they are £5 now yikes.

Then we also stopped in at lidls for the half price weekend deals and cheaper kitty food, you get the jist that went a bit awry to with fruit and nut packets and a cat scratch post.
    For Saturday..
    1. I laid lay in morning as I was a wee bit poorly last night,
    2. We missed our freezer opportunity as we ummed and ahhed, ah well on the up side we also saved on petrol and the cash we were going to spend....
    3. Properly cleaned the whole house (bit of a cheat dh and I did this Friday evening when the weather was cooler)
    4. A lovely day with the inlaws and we got the moggies back, I just didn’t appreciate being serenaded for the 2 hour drive back home.
    5. Lovely weather in September!!!!
  • Good evening all !

PK - I hope you are feeling better now, but I bet you are glad that the mogs are back and things will be as they should be ,so to speak. Yeah I totally get the "health thing" but I do feel that I spend an awful lot of time wishing I was doing something else ,somewhere else ,without neighbours :rotfl:But enough land for the Caravan of Love to sit on of course, when you visit :D

Mhagster - glad to hear that you and DS have kissed and made up.

    5 for today

    1. Peaceful day, OH out so lots of time for uninterrupted reading.

    2. Picked some purple beans from the garden that go green when they are cooked.

    3. Entered enough codes to get another free cinema ticket , as OH is addicted to chocolate .

4.Saw my brother and gave him 6 eggs hot from the hens bott !V. fresh as he takes ages in getting round to eat them.

    5. Thai green curry for tea with beans from the garden. Used up some bread as OH has 3 expensive sliced loaves on the go  and made "posh" bread and butter pudding for him and my Mum. Made with cream, an egg, vanilla essence , milk, sugar , cinnamon and sugar. Not my thing , but I refuse to waste the bread.

    6 Doc Martin on tv

Have a good evening all !

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

    1) Woke up early by weekend standards so had a very pleasant lie-in, watching the sun shining through the curtains, until a bumblebee ended up on the wrong side of the window and I had to get up to let it out.

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) Made some croissants - the ones that come out of a tin - for breakfast. I wasn't particularly enamoured of them - they were very stodgy, when croissants should be light and flaky - but at least I tried, and I can have the rest for lunch tomorrow.

    4) Chatting on the phone to my DF about his new cats' antics - nothing is safe from flying paws at the moment! :rotfl:

    5) Watched Pompey play and win on TV :j although I think Crawley have the right to feel pretty aggrieved by some very odd refereeing decisions.

    6) Changed the bed so I have nice clean sheets to sleep on tonight.

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
  • A relaxed Sunday
    1. An ops layin, DH and I woke up at about 10ish.:o
    2. A BLT for Brunch.:)
    3. We went scrumping, absolutely loved it, we have a big bag of black berries and apple wind falls to be turned into crumbles and pie tomorrow aka delia :rotfl:recipe, think we might do the same for the next few Sundays.
    4. Remainder of the rtc chicken from Friday, so I marinated it in tomato and basil and served with Pasta salad, made extra salad for lunch tomorrow.
    5. Watching the baby animals in their learning process literally just soaking up their surroundings, it’s lovely to be able to see it, funny to d the nip training as well, and wow they eat and eat and eat and eat a bit more..

For anyone interested in my 50 challenge progress (starts 11th) i've set up a wordpress site and added it to my profile.

You're just a beginner. And the 5 K challenge comes up with numbers, surely there must be some wobbleade involved somewhere along the lines?

5 Hand rubbed and breaded fish cakes for tea with Mushed peas, not them Chip Shop stilled ones, proper juicers. Got 4 for freezert.

4 Sunday service went on a bit, me next Sunday nite/ See some rite fire and brimstones brewing.

3 Our little runt of a cat has run rings round Ms Sonny this day. Littlesnake got fed at 6 and at 2, no problemo. Quick purr and hit of Ms Sonny legs and down comes anotehr gullet of salmon tasting food.

2 Red tree rodent was out this morn, boy can he leap. Good job now we has two red ones, the grey tree rat was got last year, dunno by whom, but our natrural reds are coming on strong again.
