Pleasures for the last couple of days,

    1. DD cooked dinner on Saturday night which was lovely. What was not so lovely is the fact the kitchen looked like a bomb had dropped in it, she has obviously gone to the same school of cooking as her father:cool:
    2. Shared a Giant Bourbon biscuit in Costa, naughty but oh so nice.
    3. Yesterday was a bit of a bleugh day as it would have been my brothers 51st birthday but got through it and was pretty much left alone.
    4. Managed a few bargains in Mr.T for the freezer next week should just have to buy essentials hopefully.
    5. Took DD on a trial run of her journey to the nursery where she has her placement, she felt much happier about going as doesn't like not knowing where she has to go.

Hugs to all who need them

    5 for today so far...

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons off to school happily again. :-)

    3) Painted round where the new windowframes were fitted. Only took me 2 month to get round to it!

    4) Put up the picture frames (complete with new photos) on the stairs. Painted the stairs last Autumn so this job took me a year to get round to...

    5) Got my little brother's birthday present and card.

    6) Went round the charity shops. Got a White Stuff t shirt for £2.25, a fleece jumper for bigger son for £2 and a fleece for smaller son at £1.50.

    7) Went to Sainsburys for the week's shopping and got myself some new slippers as the sole fell off one of mine over the weekend. I wear slippers most of the time in the house as we don't have carpets. Also got bigger son's ingredients for his first cookery lesson at high school tomorrow.

    8) Went for a long walk to look in the usual places for blackberries (a few) and sloes (very few).

    9) Had a letter from the County Council that they will do smaller son's statutory assessment. (It seems they often refuse). Depending how that goes, he might get more help at school.

    10) Off to mum and dad's in a minute to see my brother. He has requested a Polish cake for his birthday. I'm not sure how Polish it is but is is basically a sponge cake with lumps of chocolate, hazelnuts and glace cherries at the bottom.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

I have to confess I only managed an hour of the closing ceremony last night before I was all Coldplayed out - with apologies to the many fans on this thread, but I'm afraid I'm not one of them. (Although I did laugh when Chris Martin nearly ran headlong into a camera - I have absolutely nothing against CM - he's a very talented songwriter, even if he can't sing ;) - but it was just so nice to see the sort of daft thing that any one of us could do, amongst all the beautiful choreography. :o)

Rainy Days - I was waiting for you to finish "and then he went and rolled in the biggest, stickiest patch of mud he could find" - that's certainly what my DPs' horse tends to do when he's been groomed! :rotfl:

    1) Spent a lazy 20 minutes at the end of the day looking for restaurants for my trip to Birmingham next week: I've found a very promising-looking Indian restaurant, as it's unthinkable to go to Birmingham without having a good curry.

    2) Had a chat to another new neighbour - I'm definitely going to miss little calico cat as she's a great ice-breaker ("do you know who owns that lovely little cat?").

    3) A weird sort of pleasure - I've finally got confirmation that I can have an operation I've been waiting for for best part of 2 months (I've been waiting 2 months for the confirmation, not the operation - a 2 month waiting list for an operation would be pretty good), and now my foot seems to be better so I may not need the operation after all. :undecided

    4) I think I've got chicken kiev for dinner. (I say 'I think' because the label fell off in the freezer - I can't think what else it could be, though.)

    5) I've just remembered that I've still got the first episode of Wartime Farm to watch, as I was too busy with the Paralympics to watch it when it was broadcast.

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
  • Feeling very poorly, it feels like a bug the old slow mo head movement and just feeling a bit blluergh, as is DH,

    1. Feeling organised enough to take in HM pasta salad and a scrumped apple for lunch, saw the crowds gather for the Olympic parade.
    2. Made apple, blackcurrant and cinnamon pie and crumble and froze them both. Looking forward to getting more and making more next weekend.:D
    3. I’ve done a meal plan for this week and working down the frozen RTCs to try and get some space in the freezer, tonight its burgers with salad and chips.
    4. Finished off my can’t put down book that was a freebie.
    5. I have an interview for an 8 week piece of work apparently, it happened rather quickly during today, not sure this is a pleasure as they make me nervous, but a nice prospect, not for my current place which is now just ridiculously bad.
  • Good evening all !

    PK get well now !

Tealady - ((hugs)) re the "anniversary" x

Kittikins and Rainy Days - I did laugh re the trampoline comment :rotfl:a leaf or errant piece of straw would set a racehorse off , a trampoline would have been like firing oneself out of a horse shaped cannon ! :rotfl:

    5 for today

    1. Came to a few decisions about the future , pending my MRI results .My Mum was wholly in support which surprised me.

2.OH and I went to our usual countryside haunt to pick blackberries. Me being able to pick at waist height only - we got 6.5llbs worth . Now washed and frozen .They were very small this year , but still lovely and sweet.

3.Peaceful day reading after blackberry picking, my back is throbbing but is bearable .

    4. OH had his lobster for tea- he will need to get used to foraging as he is not working at the moment. Restaurant lobster is definitely not going to be on the cards .

5.Early night tonight as the hens go in about 7.50pm as opposed to 9.45pm as the nights are really starting to draw in .

    Have a good evening all!
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

Get well soon PK and MrPK, that sounds yuk!

    1. A couple of YS bargains in MrT's when I popped in on the way to work

    2. Found a 5p off/litre of petrol coupon in my trolley which was very well received, not least as I was driving on fumes!!

    3. Work was..........okay. Lil miss doom and gloom was in the office which brought me down a bit, but hopefully we'll miss each other the rest of the week as she'll be back where she belongs in the other office! At least I got through it without telling her to shhhhhhhh

    4. DD and I had another 'dinner party' tonight.

    5. She impressed me by writing out some of the things she learned at school today, great joined up handwriting.

    6. Yummy leftovers for lunch today and will have different leftovers for tomorrow's luncheon.
  • 1) Wore my 'new' charity shop top to work today and got a couple of favourable comments.
    2) Roast chicken dinner this evening with our veg. DH only ate one caterpillar.
    3) Picked up some windfalls and put them with our neighbour's plums in a crumble. They're odd apples, with hardly any flavour at all, but they bulk up a pud nicely and will take on other flavours well too, so it worked.
    4) Return of a book by a friend. She had kept it for three years, we think. Not that I mind. Have dipped into it already and since I've forgotten most of what it said, will read it again with pleasure.
    5) Am sitting here in DH's most enormous jumper instead of putting the heating on. Luckily, I don't have to look at myself.
  • The usual hotch-potch over a few days:-

    1. First casserole of the season - beef, tomato, red & white onion & mushroom, took 15 mins to prep and was absolutely gorgeous, tho I say it myself. Used half a jar of wholegrain mustard to give it some zing and it worked beautifully.

    2. Some nice freebies in the post - perfumes and a lovely cooking sauce.

    3. Paralympics. Gonna blow my own trumpet here, as well as all the fantastic performances to celebrate, Channel 4 used two of my tweets during the Games on their live text feed.
One was today, Iwan Thomas interviewed Martine Wright (7/7 survivor & sitting volleyball Paralympian) and she broke down as she gave her reaction to the Games. Iwan gave her a huge hug, by which time I was in bits myself.
One of the most memorable bits of TV I have ever witnessed. C4 put my thoughts on the feed.
The other tweet was to congratulate David Stone on his trike road race Gold. As a trike rider myself, I'm in awe of this guy. He takes corners like ... well, you don't take corners like that on a trike, except he does.
I felt so chuffed that I was able to contribute.
    4. A great book by former Paralympian Marc Woods - Personal Best: How To Achieve Your Full Potential. Amazon freebie.
    5. I caught bits of Wartime Farm during ad breaks and boring bits of the Paralympics. Looks a goodie!
    6. The latest Strictly line up looks interesting. It's come round so fast this year. Tempus fugit.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

  • I made the effort to go shopping in another town, it helped having a bus ticket that saved me money(and avoided taxi fare)I managed to find a few whoopsies, I rarely find like others...some fresh mackerel reduced as was some fresh lemon sole, a loaf of bread, a fruit salad and then some of Morrisons low price brands and fruit/salad items down in price...

    This was a rare success...
