Hello all.
Just watching Ellie get her medal... and Natalie Jones a bronze, so close to a silver. I'm so pleased Natalie got on the rostrum, she is nearly always a finalist and an almost there. Ellie is just something else, a most remarkable young woman. Shame DC gave the medals with his Govt's current all out attacks on disabled people....
1. Still on cloud nine over Paralympics and will stay there till Sunday.
2. Gave my daughter her birthday stocking, which she seemed to really like. There were so many bargains in it.
3. Baby/dog/sat for DGS & DGD and family dog. Dog is wonderful company now. She used to be such a pester for attention that I would come home covered in deep scratches from her pawing me constantly and exhausted. She has outgrown that. We exchange loving snuffles and hourly cuddles instead. So much better.
4. I so enjoyed my Wartime Farm book ... I've reviewed it on Amazon here , if any of you are interested in my thoughts. Mine is the only review at the moment.
5. A NSD yet again and daughter had left a tempting lunch for me to prepare for self & DGS. (DGD's first day at senior school). I won't need supper!
Thank you for all your shares and especially for all your support for the Paralympics.

• I've been slowly implementing several O.S. practices over the past few years. Here are a few.

1. I'm doing what I can to waste less food. Britons throw away around 8.3 million tonnes of food every year. Americans waste even more. Almost all foods are perfectly safe to eat after the expiration dates have elapsed. Those dates are often arbitrary and are primarily concerned with quality over safety. Also, I'm trying to do a better job of keeping track of what perishable foods I have. I'm using a lot more perishables before they go bad. I'm eating more leftovers too. There are too many starving people in the world to allow any food to go to waste.

2. I'm phasing out paper towels. They're extremely wasteful! According to statistics, in 2010, Americans spent nearly $2.3 billion on paper towels, and sent approximately 3000 tons of paper towels to landfills every day. I bought some of those reusable, machine washable cleaning cloths to start phasing these money wasting and environmentally unfriendly things out.

3. I'm cleaning more with white vinegar, baking soda, and bleach. You can do the majority of household cleaning with just these products. Almost all commercial cleaning products are unnecessary, expensive, and toxic to humans and the environment. We're literally poisoning ourselves, , our children, and other family members, and friends with many of these products.

4. I'm washing laundry more frugally. I almost always use cold water and dry on the clothesline. I make my own detergent out of cheap, non-toxic ingredients. I just started doing this recently and it's been at least effective as with the toxic corporate brand cleaners. I'm finally sorting items better to make them last longer.

5. I'm produce more of my own food. This includes vegetable gardening, growing herbs, getting meat and eggs from my own chickens. These items tend to be more economical, they taste a lot better, and are much healthier than the stuff you buy from the store.

6. Had a good jam session with DD on our guitars. This I need to get her a new teacher or individual lessons as I agree with my dad that she's not being stretched enough and is getting bored. Wonder how much that will be.....

Kittikins, you must be getting quite proficient on the musicguitar.gif
There is some info on music grants etc that may be helpful here:

Hasn't the weather been kind to us today - well nearly all of us that is :D

1. Sat in the garden at lunchtime in the sun eating a sandwich and reading my magazine.

2. Emma Bridgewater catalogue arrived today so I had a good look through that - not that I am buying, because there are bigger things at the moment for our cash to be diverted towards. Still nice to have a read though.

3. DH had the lawns cut when I got home from work - pleased about that as the bins get emptied tomorrow!

4. Friend popped in tonight on her way home from work and had a half hour chat.

5. New series of Escape to the Country was recorded for me when I got home so I have had my fix of that tonight as well.

Have a great evening all of you x
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

Thanks for the link skint, I'll have a look. TBH I think I'm pretty rubbish at the geetar, have never played before DD took it up. She's a quick learner but definitely needs individual lessons. When I picked her up from her friend's house I was envious of the comments book that the friend's piano teacher fills in each lesson and want to find someone like that to teach DD guitar rather than her sitting in a group lesson where it sounds like they spend a lot of time tuning up! I always send DD in with a tuned guitar and plenty of plectrums so that if anyone's forgotten theirs....

• We had a fantastic time in the “Caravan o L”:p , and what a lucky time, I entered 3 competitions at the steam show and won first prize in all of them.:j. We now have 2 times 2 years subscriptions to magazines, various t shirts, mugs calendars, work overalls, CD’s, DVD’s kites and collectables, I also won a sweatshirt that was so cosy I bought another 2 :rotfl:as they were on offer as well. We picked up a bag of ferret toys and bedding free, just by being friendly:o. And the onsite bakers had half price clearance on the last day so we are stocked up:D.

We had a wonderful time, I am less white then normal and trying to keep it that way by plying it with moisturiser. The weather was a mix of good and very bad, wellies most of the time with a maxi dress, great combo but who cares. Met loads of lovely people to talk to, and tried some hot cider most evenings.:)

We are really looking forward to getting our rescued animals back tomorrow, to see how much they have grown up:) – they stayed with someone while we were away as they are stinky when they are babies.

We took a portable shower which did a great job, but it feels great to be properly clean.

Looking forward to catching up on here

A seriously happy and contented PK:)

PK welcome back, sounds like a fantastic holiday :)
Chicken/DD I've never tried cheese making but have a friend who does, apparently it's not as difficult as it sounds - or so she says!

1. The Paralympics, all so exciting!
2. The weather, so beautiful!
3 Took muttley to the vet re an irritating bald patch on his back. Vet gave him a shot and a course of anti-b's and gave me a 'reasonably' painless bill.
4. Breathing improving daily (thank you Chicken :))
5. Got a 241 hot air balloon flight booked for DD and myself. That's another one to cross of the bucket list
6. Strange one - haven't risen to a rather unpleasant reply to a post. A while ago I'd have been as rude as the other person, now I simply can't be bothered to join 'them down there' :p
7. All three gardens look so pretty this evening, with the solar lights so bright after a day in the sun

Sweet dreams :)
