Hugs Frith and Kittikins - I just wish there was something more useful I could offer. :(
Mculloch - no soap box , we like to consider other people's opinions and feelings on this thread .

I quite agree - it's one of the many things I like about this thread. :)

I'll show my own prejudices here by noting that I was very impressed with a rather rowdy group of young blokes in the pub where I went to wait for my takeaway, who stopped their conversation to watch and applaud as Elly Simmonds (the swimmer) got her gold medal. A nice reminder to me that you should never judge anyone on appearances. :o

On a lighter note, I passed another group of young blokes on the way home: they were standing outside an Indian takeaway (there's a lot of them on that road) and I overheard: "well, I think we should go somewhere with tables... I know, but we've got no cutlery to eat it with". New students! :rotfl:
Back after a very long break!

Oh dear, such unhappy posts, and to think I was moaning that I feel tired. Shame on me :o. There's only one thing for it, big (((:grouphug:)))
Chicken agreed, some people make my blood boil. The very least that should happen is banned from keeping any pet for life.
Mhags/Frith, wasn't the moon just incredible? Feels strange that we saw it from the garden, we also saw it at the same time on the television over the Olympic Stadium, Frith saw it from a beach in Wales and earlier Mhags saw it in Oz. Small world :)
Paralympics - what to say? They try to get it right but they're damned if they do, damned if they don't. Personally I've enjoyed watching both separately, probably more than if they were combined. I don't see how that would be possible, but I'm just a lay person...

    1. First time in months I didn't set the alarm clock, and slept til 9.15am then missed going to the gym for the 2nd day running. No wonder I'm tired, it doesn't do me any good. Pleasure is at least I know what to do in future!
    2. Had one of the eggs that my visitors brought me, for lunch. It was beautiful, rich yellow and creamy. It was big, feel sorry for the chook that laid it
    3. The weather. Much warmer than the past day or so when I've been absobloominglutely freezing!
    4. Re the above, been looking out my thermals etc for my visit to West Yorks in November. Don't think I'll need to buy anything as I stocked up last year with lots of special offer bits :)
    5. Spent some time this afternoon designing my new tat, the childrens linked initials and dob's. Will take it with me to Yorks as the last one was done in Keighley and he was super. Kept asking me if I was okay - of course I was, he'd told me to rest my arm on his knee and he was, well, phew ;)!

Settling down with Casualty and a (low fat) hot chocolate, sweet dreams :)

Yippee! Just got an email to say that parents need to bring DD back home tomorrow rather than Monday as they've now got a workman coming on Monday, yay, cuddles a-plenty in store for me :):)

(and oh heck, I've got to finish the stuff I planned on doing tomorrow ;) )
  • Chicken, that was a really thought provoking post, thanks.

    Good evening all!

Skint - doesyour DS not fancy a job in a racing yard like his Mum? ... he can clearly get up early enough ;):D

    :rotfl:

Chicken, I havent ridden since I ended up in hospital on traction at age 19. Then I moved to the south, married a naval officer and never got back to riding so DS was not brought up in a horsey household. He always wanted to go in army but as he is blind in one eye he is automatically barred, but he wants to go in Police who do take monocular officers. I did pay for him to go to riding lessons a few times ( at the cost) but lets just say hes not a natural :rotfl:

(((hugs))) Frith and Kittikins .....think I'll stay single

    For yesterday:

    1. cloudy grey morning burned off to a glorious warm sunny day
    2. got 4 hours of decorating done (and only needed 2 painkillers :o )
    3. bacon and egg roll for lunch
    4. met up with friend down by the quay and had a few drinks and set the world to rights in the warm afternoon sunshine overlooking the sea
    5. went to dinner at Franky & bennys ...not OS but was delish

Hope to finish decorating today before DS gets back from Chatsworth.

Have a good day all x

some weekend pleasures! I am still feeling very emotionally vulnerable! (in otherwords crying a lot!) ,not knowing what's ahead of us.

    Anyway:

Spring has sprung and I've had a fairly productive weekend:

1.made strawberry jam. Not sure why the strawbs were so cheap but I took advantage!

2.washing after washing, all dried on line and all ironed :)

3.I wandered up to the library and sat and read 3 glossy magazines, which would have cost over $20. Sat in the warmth of the sun (through the window) and just relaxed for a wee while. It was nice.

4.Beds all stripped ....and at least mine is remade, kids can get their own! Was dry within an hour and was still warm from sun when it went back on bed. Looking forward to bedtime tonight!

5.Made a tortilla lasagne: tortilla, layer of sauce (used a bolognese sauce) .layer of cheese, layer of tortilla etc. Topped with cheese and baked for 15 minutes. Had it with some salad and it was rather nice. It used up some tortilla and still have enough bol sauce to do spag bol tomorrow night.

Hugs to everyone who needs one!!

Feeling rubbish this morning, not sure what I want to do.
  • mhagster - Massive ((hugs)) to you and yours xxx

Dundee - your posts kill me :D You sound like so much fun !

Frith - ((hugs)) to you , I am not going to say anything about men ..honest ;)

CCP - Ellie Simmons is fantastic ! The day that I see someone as inspiring as her advertising shampoo at peak viewing times (like M. Cavendish, V. Pendleton and M. Phelps ) I know the world will be a more equitable place .....hopefully in my lifetime ;) I know I am getting boring now :o

Kittikins - I hope you get to see your OH x

Have a good Sunday all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
