Evening
Pleasures for today,
1. Much needed NSD
2. took lunch to work with me and a few of the cakes I made on monday as knew they wouldn't all get eaten at home
3. Managed to get some washing dry in between showers thanks to DD bringing the washing in.
4. Yummy sausage and pasta soup for dinner
5. Managing to help out someone at work and them appreciating the help.
hugs to all who need them0 -
1. nsd, almost a npd as made it back from gym on fumes. Definitely need fill up tomorrow
2. postie brought me a box of crisps to trial, will have a couple so I can comment on them, then give the rest to the LO next door
3. friends arrived from oop norf on their way to the Harry Potter Experience tomorrow with their DGS1
4. lovely evening catching up and arranging one of my visitor's birthday in Nov, which will have an 80's theme. Debatable whether she means 1980's, or age!
5. watching the paralympics, marvelling at the skill and stamina of the basket ball players
Early night (by my standards) as the visitors have to be up at sparrer song. Sweet dreams0 -
1. Paralympics... ah bliss. Especially Ian Dury's Spasticus Autisticus at the opening ceremony. I was monitoring witty comments on Twitter and it went ape at that point.
2. The sport itself. So much to enjoy and how disabled sport has come on and come on is fantastic. The cycling, wheelchair basketball, judo and swimming was so exciting, the dressage a bit nerve-wracking but it's all good so far....
3. I've got my step stool for the bathroom and had a literal dry run with climbing into the (empty!) bath fully clothed using it. No problems. It struck me that I might be able to use it as a seat in the bath as well. But perhaps not. I wouldn't fancy having to ask my son to get me out if I couldn't make it!
4. Various freebies in post including a very good book.
5. YS bargains whilst shopping.
And as always, reading all your pleasures. Thank you.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Mine for the day:
1. Late start, spent time chilling in bed and reading
2. Visited a friend
3. Dinner out with another friend
4. Free preview of film with said friend. Lawless. Highly recommended but very violent, go only if you don't mind lots of blood.
5. Prosecco, cocktails and snack post-film with friend, great fun!
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Just got home!
Here are my pleasures for today.
1) Went to the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth. :-) Sons loved all the interactive bits, I liked them but also the gardens. Lunch was good too.
2) Shop was good at the CAT. Smaller son bought a tiny solar panel that will run a motor or a light bulb so I predict that will be built into lots of different models. Bigger son bought a water bottle for high school. I bought the first Christmas presents! 2 little paper windmills for my friend's children.
3) Run about and paddle at Aberdyfi. Had another showdown with older son whilst there and he has been fine since then.
4) Met OH and his sons who are camping further up the coast this week. Wasn't sure how the meeting up would go with the terse messages we've been exchanging this week. But it was fine and pleasure number 4) can be actually managing to locate him on a beach we both chose randomly, neither of us knowing precisely where it was!
5) Chips for tea.
6) Fairbourne beach from 6-10pm with perfect weather, later the stars out and a full moon. (Or near enough).
7) All sons played in the sea for a while then we built a campfire in the sand dunes. :-)
8) Had to do an emergency stop on the way home for a hedgehog.0 -
Oh Frith, I am green with envy.
CAT is one of my favouritist places in the world. I find it very "zen" up there. I went to their cafe in Machynlleth last week but it isn't as good as the one actually in CAT. I never made it there this time - to my regret.
I also love Aberdyfi - walked to there from Tywyn along the beach and back last week. I especially like the Medina coffee shop.:D
Glad you and OH met upI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Kittikins - good guess then eh?
Mcculloch - the Paralympic games are truly inspiring .However to be truly "inclusive" should it not be undertaken at the same time as the Olympic games ?? Just my thoughts really.
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

4 Going to be nuked at Papworth on 12th September. Ms Sonny is worried. I has said it will give me a boost and make me lugs go green!
3 Got a contract with local College. Now just want one of the Ladies teams as well. (Poor Ms Sonny)
2 Thanks to Chick and VJsMam about Tiger, Rocket or his real name, Monty he is as normnal as bleeding ever. Gis Ms Sonny loads of earache, jumps on her, sleeps on her head. Still, he is on his tablets so the little runt nose what is coming.

My five for today
1) woke early naturally and did an hour on the treadmill.
2) breakfast in the garden with 6 purry, furry compainions.
3) getting to the supermarket before the hordes had descended and got some great bargains.
4) spent the afternoon in the glorious sunshine with my youngest DD, picking blackberries and elderberries for tomorrows wine making. I don't often get time alone with her and we had a lovely chat and I realised just how grown up she's getting.
5) grabbing a homemade ready meal (chilli to go on top of nachos) from the freezer, just need to heat, serve up and pop under the grill with some cheese and sour cream.
Sometimes, life is just lovely."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
