Hello Mojoworking, how cool for your DD to have an etchasketch :)

Sparrer - your holiday sounds fabulous, I'd love to see the Angel of the North one day......

Chicken - hope the scan was OK, OH has them twice a year and they sound a bit claustrophobic to me *shudder* mind you I'm probably too fat to have one so here's hoping I don't ever need one!

    1. Kind of a NSD, as spent banked ppal money on a leopardskin print all in one fleece sleepsuit for my beloved DD, she's going to LOVE it. She's been forcing her too-tall body into a pink one for a 4 year old and is a very tall 7 year old, so have got her the new one for age 9-10 (she can grow into it if needs be, lol, just like school uniforms :) )

    2. Worked from home

    3. Sorted out a load of cuddly toys to take to the charity shop once DD has lived happily without them for a few months (i.e. if she notices they've gone, then I'll put them back but otherwise......)

    4. Had quotes for fitted roller and venetian blinds in various places in the house which were quite shockingly expensive, so think I'll go for the Ikeeeea option and cut them down (or ask someone more sensible than me to do it)

    5. Have arranged for a lovely friend to come over to the house for the first time tomorrow, she went to our old house but never this one - and she lives on the same road as us, we can virtually throw a stone to each other's driveways!! Shocking and I'm looking forward to sharing a bottle of rose with her tomorrow :)

    6. Have been chatting to a lovely person on another thread on MSE who is planning the same career change as me and have sent her what will hopefully be some useful info

    7. Lovely texts with a school run mum friend who used to work at my current company, and told her my news. She was shocked but thinks my plans sound very exciting.

    8. Have emailed the school I have done voluntary work at to ask if I can do more, with a view to using them as proper experience for my application form. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

    9. Looking forward to Bake Off soon

    10. Enjoying a bottle of wine with OH, slurp.

    11. Scrumptious chats with DD on the phone :):):):) roll on next week when she comes back to mummikins.

    12. Just read a really funny article on the DMail website: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2194496/Amazon-shoppers-hilarious-reviews-Bics-pen-just-women.html and if you dare, read the Veet reviews (see one of the comments below the article)!!

    1. Got four loads of washing dried outside on the line.

    2. After lunch cut lawns front and back then sat at the top of the garden on mum's bench with a nice cool glass of orange and mango squash admiring my hard work.

    3. Had a peaceful afternoon - no phone ringing, no interuptions bliss!

    4. Sat and watched the Great British Bake Off

    5. Just had a really relaxing shower so I don't go to work stinking tomorrow!!

Bit mad as I cleaned the windows after dinner tonight as well then it decided to flipping well rain argh
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

    Evening

Sparrer - Sounds like you had a great time even if it was a bit chilly.

    Pleasures for today,
    1. HM breakfast muffins this morning, as they are full of fruit, nuts and oats stopped me from feeling hungry until lunch time
    2. took lunch with me to work so no expensive shop bought things
    3. Bought some wooden skewers so DD could make some frozed fruit kebabs. We eat them like an ice-lolly and they are so nice plus very healthy
    4. Lovely postcard from my nephew
    5. Cleared the last few bits from the ironing basket

Hugs to all who need them
  • Sparrer, that sounds like a lovely trip, and some lovely food to go with it!

    Mine today

    1) Went out for a coffee with a friend. I had recommended OU to her and she is now starting her first module. Nice to be of assistance and friend insisted on paying for coffee.
    2) Spoke to both brothers today, which is unusual, and they are now ringing each other. It's not that we don't like each other, we're just all busy.
    3) Managed to mow and edge the lawn, then hoe the beds, since it was sunny. Feeling both smug and relieved.
    4) Found-it-in-the-freezeer for tea, with some home-grown veg. Everyone had something different but we all ate together.
    5) Square of chocolate from DD, just as I sat down to relax. She had been saving it for weeks and then shared it between the four of us this evening. Aren't teenagers lovely?

    Hello everyone.

Here are my pleasures for the day

1 - My friend bringing me something I needed for my holiday so I didn't have to buy one!

2 - Getting to put my feet up during a 2 hour lunch break.

3 - A letter from a friend. I do love that I have friends who like to write letters. It's so much nicer to get home to than the usual pap in the mail.

4 - Saved a bit of money as I managed to fit into a kids waterproof jacket so bought it instead of an adults one.

5 - It's one sleep until my holiday. And I better go sleep soon as it's an early start.

I won't be around for the next week or so but will be back asap to catch up and fill you in.

    Big hugs.

McCulloch - thanks for the farm tip off
CCP - do you eat the pods of the borlotti beans? I have grown some but don't know what to do with them
Kittikins - Oh my, love those reviews - and the Veet :rotfl:
Sparrer - and you say I am holiday organiser extraordinaire. Glad you enjoyed. Scarborough is the home of my 3rd best ever fish and chips - after Mevagissy and Barmouth. Although I don't much like fish and chips:cool:
Mhagster - glad OH is feeling better, may it continue

    For yesterday

    1. was sooo tired but managed to do some sorting
    2. FN went home :( but the pleasure was her lovely facebook message thanking us for having her
    3. Yummy roast chicken for tea (sorry chicken! :p) with HG runner beans - one was 14" long!
    4. DD doing the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification all week and she enjoyed the first day - and they gave us a £50 discount.
    5. Phone call with dad - he seems to be managing at home just fine. Wouldn't have believed it possible a couple of months ago.

    And today

    1. Back to work :(, the pleasure was... erm..... erm.... I'm sure there was one... erm.... I enjoyed the drive home!
    2. New conservatory roof - definitely not MSE, but lovely. They are finishing it tomorrow
    3. Some more post holiday chores finished. Caravan cleaned and put away and some laundry juggling. And clean sheets!
    4. Soup and cheese and biscuits for tea
    5. Lovely weather.

"working at home" tomorrow while they finish the conservatory roof. May take back a lieu day - unofficially.
    5.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Here are my 5 or so for today (Tuesday).

    1) Long lie in.

    2) Took the scooters to the park and the weather was fantastic all day.

    3) Went to big shopping centre (where we rarely go) and got bigger son his PE tracksuit trousers from Primark for £3! Got smaller son some new socks.

    4) Had my eyebrows threaded - that was a first!

    5) Went to mum and dad's for a Chinese takeaway with my brother and sister as well.

    6) Sister is getting ready for her boyfriend to move in. They have been going out for 2 months and it's all perfect. I'm pleased for her, especially as her ex was such a numpty. We don't know how she should broach the subject with mum and dad (OK, with mum) as living together without being married is not going to make mum happy...

    7) Sons and I have just sat in my bed watching Swiss Family Robinson.

No word from OH so presumably I am still not wanted on holiday. It is half over now anyway. :-(

  • VJsmum glad to hear your dad is settling at home

Sparrer - Glad you had such a lovely time

Mhagster - glad OH is feeling better

    giddynici - have a lovely holiday !

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1. food shopping came in under budget and that included some packs of cooked chicken drumsticks which were 50% off.

    2. had some of the above for yummy lunch with salad and rest in freezer for work lunches when I go back (next week gulp ! )

    3. got 3 loads of washing done and dried on line. DS is going away for weekend doing field gun run at chatsworth - am looking forward to a few days peace.... is that wicked of me ;)

    4. went for a walk and although quite windy it was really warm and quite pleasant

    5. am applying for another job !!!! Spotted online yesterday, part time - hours to be agreed, and it sounds ideal. They want an application form instead of a cv and I have to come up with examples ... omg its taken me 3 hours today and still not finished. Sometimes wonder if its worth it when I didnt even get a reply last time. Still mustnt grumble I know I am lucky to have a job at the moment, its just that once DS reaches 18 and leaves college I need to be earning more, so 2 jobs would be better.... if thats not being greedy :p

Have a good day everyone x
