Hey everyone
Mhagster - sending hugs to you and I hope your OH gets all the care he needs and feels a bit better.
Chicken, CCP and Skint - Yay for people nearby (or nearby counties). This makes me feel better about the move still.
DD - Happy Birthday!! Hope you have had a great day.
Hugs to all those who are feeling down.
My pleasures for the day:
1 - A good morning text from a certain someone.
2 - Work going in super speedy. This is good as I'm finding it really hard to focus there at the moment as I've lots on my mind.
3 - First day back at my Guides unit. Have missed them, despite how noisy they are. Was sad telling them I'm going though but the girls are going to arrange a party for my last night.
4 - Home to a beautiful Paris postcard from a postcrosser.
5 - A cuppa0 -
Well I hope the Bank Holiday went well.
1) Had a lie in. I can't possibly need any more sleep.
2) Finished Treasure Island. I have to read it for next year's OU and was pleasantly surprised to find it descriptive and engaging. I want to go on a tall ship now to see what he's writing about.
3) Put a jumper on instead of the heating. First time this year. The pleasure is not in the chill but in the saving.
4) The screen on DD's K1indle went very strange and as she is a student, we were working up to having to get a new one but she rang up Amaz0n and they are replacing the whole thing free of charge, as it was under warranty. An extremely worthwhile call.
5) A family evening out - not MSE in terms of cost but this is the last part of our stay-cation and it's lovely to do things together.
Finally, could I re-recommend Living More With Less by Doris Janzen Longacre to all MSEers? Written by a Mennonite woman, it is a Christian perspective on living a happier life by wanting and using less, with some very interesting contributions from like-minded people. One of my absolute favourite books.0 -
Rain rain rain. Bank hols.
Belated happy birthday DD.
5 Had disaster on Saturday at work. But we all chucked in and recovered.
4 Bin at big sis. She as given up the fags, after all the years. Thinks she realised she was as old as mummsie when she died. Kicked her off. Has nice natter. Third niece has just left school, got place at college to do hairdressing.
3 Tiger is at vet and muss pay bill. Always we seem to pay bill.
2 Having a mackerel day. It is like being and old trout, with no clout.
1 Has it become he norm. On way back from big sis, Sunday, local T was still open at ten in the evening. There was not a need for it.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

Chickenopolis thank you!
Mhagster I hope your OH gets better and the treatment works, it must have been very upsetting for you all (((hugs)))!
Too tired to post last night so here are mine for yesterday:
1. Long lie in with breakfast in bed
2. Lunch of mostly homegrown veg with whole oat groats, like a broth, yummy!
3. Allotment visit with DH, he dug up a bit more, I transplanted leeks.
4. Nice chat with 5 year old David Bowie fan at allotment
5. Cooked and ate last of the pak choi before the snails ate it all.
6. Went with DH to the outdoor bootcamp, had to really force myself but ended up working out hard, feeling much better for it.
Have a good day all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Many thanks to everyone for your good wishes, I really do appreciate them.
Not long in from visiting Mr Mhagster and he is certainly better than he was 24 hours ago.....was managing to have a moan so can't be all bad! Hopefully home tomorrow. We still have a long road ahead on our getting better journey and I'm sure there will be a few more downs but hopefully more ups. Cancer sucks!
Anyway,
1.Lovely day, we managed to reach 19o which was most pleasant!
2.Work was okay and I managed to get away half hour early which meant I got into city half hour earlier to go a visiting.
3.My lovely friend came and picked me up at the hospital. I really appreciate this as I'm terrified of city driving.
4.Lovely train journey in, yacked to another friend , on the phone, the whole way
5.Gardens full of spring -y ness! Magnolia, blossom, daffs, iris, cala lillies...just lovely
Have a good one!0 -

(((Mhags family))) hoping DH is improving and will be well asap. Congratulations to you both on your 20th :T
DD belated Happy Birthday. Sounds like you're having a good visit to la belle France
Chicken a croft in Scotland sounds quite romantic, but having just experienced their weather you'd need to take your long john's!
TILAMS vet's are terrible bank-breakers, luckily as long as it doesn't require surgery, my DD manages most pet ailments. Hope your mog is better and doesn't need any more treatment
Caterina, love your #4, how cute. I'm also a fan of Bowie
PQ thank you for the recommendation, I read every MS book I can get my hands on and hadn't heard of this one
Hope everyone is okay and had a dry, warm weekend!
Lots happened over the past few days so a brief summary of my Bank Holiday weekend...
1. Back from the frozen wastes of the north, eh bah gum it's cold up there! Definitely needed sweaters and sox. Had a really super time though, with driver, courier and fellow passengers all great fun. Lovely when a group gels so well. We stopped at Harrogate, hoped to go to Betty's Tea Rooms but the queue was down the street and round the corner, so we had a nice cuppa and muffin in a little tea room which was probably a lot less expensive. Saw the Angel of the North which DGD2 got a good photo of from the coach
2. Poured with rain all the way to Edinburgh on Saturday, had tea in the Parliament building - I'm not sure if I like some modern architecture, perhaps because I don't understand it - followed by a tour of Holyrood Palace. Mary Queen of Scots little rooms up a bare, narrow, circular stone staircase were very sad compared to the rest of the palace. I really felt for her.
3. It was very overcast and very cold, but didn't rain for the Tattoo which was so moving. Unfortunately I had something in my eye at times, especially seeing the Lone Piper. Poured with rain all the way back to the hotel but we were in a warm coach - how lucky we were!
4. A lie-in on Sunday before setting off to Scarborough across the moors, via some of the prettiest villages and scenery. The sun came out, it was cold but dry and bright. Scarborough is a real fun seaside town with two super beaches, and some pretty good shops too, according to DGD
5. Monday, up early (7am:eek:) to visit York on our way home. The rain came down in torrents! It didn't detract from the beauty of the Minster though. We joined a tour but the guide spent 15 minutes enthusing over one window so we struck off to tour on our own and a guide book. Later wandered along The Shambles and other quaint streets, had lunch in 5t@rbucks, went into a glove shop where DGD fell in love with a pair of long, red leather gloves, and after telling me how much she really, really needed them, Grandma gave in. Of course
6. Home to the mogs, the dog, and my lovely, comfy bed..ahhhh
7. Back to the gym today, it really was a pleasure as I had to start working off the cooked breakfasts and dinners, blueberry muffins, ice cream, pastries and a huge TGI Fri., meal of chicken shrimps etc and the biggest waffle you ever did see, covered in apple and cream, and dripping with syrup
Have a peaceful evening0 -
Mine for today:
1. Long walk to Lidl with my friend
2. Coffee and a catch up with said friend before shopping
3. Tax rebate arrived and banked
4. Won £10 on a charity lottery. Banked.
5. Met DS in shopping centre and bought him a silver chain for his St Christopher medal, which he wants to take in his travels soon. He was very appreciative and grateful.
6. DS agreed to cook dinner tonight, I hope that when DD comes back from her babysitting sh will help so I don't have to step in!
7. Booked my 2 hours free refresher driver lessons for when I come back from my hols.
Good night all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
