5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Ah, Survival course number 2! Was possibly better than the first one. We built a shelter, built a camp fire then got together with 2 other teams. We did the starters, the other teams with us did main and dessert. So we had the pastry wrapped round sticks for starters, chilli in wraps for main and baked bananas for dessert. :-)
We had to mark the main and dessert people in our team for hosting and food. I think there were 4 big teams (with 3 smaller teams within each) and we won best starter!
Anyway, 5 for today...
1) Actually got up at the same time as OH so feel like I've been up for days! Good to have a couple of hours pottering around with the boys still asleep.
2) Made them a cooked breakfast.
3) Went to Ironbridge. :-) First went to Blists Hill and enjoyed candle making and a ride on the horse and cart. Had our picnic there too. Then went to the Jackfield Tile Museum - had never been there before. It was ace! The boys designed and glazed (?) a tile each which will be posted to us next week after firing. Not cheap but good as a treat.
We get free entry as I have a season ticket and the boys get in with their Blue Peter badges.
4) Popped into sainsburys and got a cheating pasta bake for tea.
5) Sitting comfortably in the living room now with big cat on my knee and the radiator on!
6) Boys about to have a bath and have a DVD to watch in my bed afterwards.
OH off camping tomorrow. It did look as though bigger son was going to prevent we 3 from going at all (I've been called everything under the sun this week) but we are now aiming for 3 days and 2 night with OH and his sons. Might wait until next week and hope the weather improves!0 -

CCP- (aka Wiki) ThanksI take it that you do not like swans??
No, I'm not keen: I was attacked by one a few years ago and had to be rescued by an American tourist, which was rather embarrassing.(Having to be rescued was embarrassing, I mean, not the fact that he was American!)
Back after a very long break!0 -
Tealady well done to your DD you are right to be proud of her after all she has overcome
PK - Hope things went ok todayTake_it_like_a_man,_sonny wrote: »Fire Alarm batteries changed, they pinged last week, so ran on only one for a day or two SO CHECK YOURS.
Sonny, I check mine regularly with my cremated efforts at cooking
Mine for today
1. Lovely lie in, no council workers digging up/re- laying road
2. Banked money for DS that my B-in-Law kindly gave him for driving lessons and popped into morrisons next to bank to pick up some liver for next weeks meal plan. Havent had liver and onions for ages
3. Next door neighbour went out so I got out the step ladder and leant over the fence to pull back the ivy that is growing rampant on her side. I dont know whether I'm "allowed" - it is my boundary fence - but I dont want it spreading any nearer to the house, and I did speak to her about it a few weeks ago. Since her husband passed away the ivy has really spread and is now completely covering her garden shed and most of my fence and is beginning to cover her trees, but she has now put the house on the market. If I were physically able I would offer to pull it all up, I am surprised her 3 grown up children & their husbands dont offer to help her, but at least I can try and stop it getting onto the brickwork of the houses
4. Rainy afternoon so prepped the hallway ready for decorating. Have got some paint left over from 2-for-1 offer and still have my birfday £20 bnq voucher to use. Heavy rain and gale force winds forecast for tomorrow, so obviously a bank holiday weekendWill probably take me a week to finish but will be nice and fresh when done
5. Had a laugh with DS watching some ridiculous film we recorded a few weeks ago

Very quick 5 for me as very tired:
1. DS made me breakfast, lovely omelette
2. Long lie in
3. Got a nice school pick up nanny job, only 2 days and very local, starting after I am back from hols.
4. DS's friend, trainee fishmonger, brought us a gift of 2 seabass filets, very kind of him. Will have tomorrow for dinner
5. DD just came to say good night after she finished her babysitting, so sweet!
Good night all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hope everybody has a fantastic bank holiday weekend..
I'll catch backup in a week or so not expecting to be on much in a 600 achre field no matter what the weather:rotfl: Determined to walk off a few calories.0 -
Hello,Saturday morning here and dry at the moment though forecast for rain later so will take my chances and hang a washing out soon. My washing machine is not well and I managed to almost flood laundry room and drown myself trying to empty water out of it last night. However, have changed the programme which seems to be working at the mo....I have so much washing at weekends with uniforms, PE kits and my work clothes that it would be trully awful to be without a WM....and they are blooming expensive here too.
Pleasures:
Work wasn't too bad...think I had an off day on Wednesday but we still are short staffed with one of the young pups leaving this week....one of the nice non moody ones too.
Got a cuddle from one of my customers baby....she is a wee tote as she was 12 weeks premature and is now 14 weeks old so really just the size of a newborn. She was lovely.
Got big smiles from another customers baby....she is a regular and we play peekaboo! Has been coming in at least once a week for 10 months. She is a week older than my great niece.
Had the leftovers of leftover macaroni ! Then some leftover choc cake, with leftover caramel and cream for my pudding. Sat at table on my own ,reading a book as everyone else had stuff on. Lovely and peaceful.
Needed petrol but had been refusing to fill up at the ridiculously high price it has been all week. However when I took girls out I saw it was down by 10 cents so filled half tank as it should come down more.
My very poorly OH is rather unwell at the moment , don't think it's to do with his treatment just think he has a stomach bug but he doesn't really have the strength to cope with it. I hate seein him like this but not too much I can do.
Enjoy your weekend whatever you get up to and very well done to all the kids who did well in their exams. We will be at that stage Ina couple of months with DS as he sits his final exams . Very different system out here, you get a final leaving score rather than a set of exam results.0 -
Gentle hugs to your OH mhagster, hope he starts to feel better very soon. BIG HUGS to you and the children, you are all doing amazing at living life with this horrible illness tormenting you x0
