thankyou kittikins , he's a bit of a poorly soul at the moment and I think he despairs of ever feeling better. Bad enough for me as his wife (of 20 years this week !) seeing him like that but I'm not going through all the pain and suffering he has had too. Hopefully by tomorrow whatever has upset his tummy is better and he can start again to take a step at a time getting better.

Has stayed dry :) but bloomin' cold wind that blew my washing almost dry!

Ironed whilst watching Casualty on youtube. I do love it even just hearing the theme tune makes me happy.....I hanker after Saturday evenings back home.

Whilst perusing some other threads on here this morning , I'm glad this is a nice & friendly one :)

Went to a cheap & cheerful cafe in our wee town with girls and had some lunch together and a good blether.

Went to the very smelly charity shop in our wee town which is a bit dark and dismal and smells ....they had a half price book sale , so took a big breath & held our noses and got 2 books, 3 videos and a DVD and DD1 paid!

Had a wee snooze, whilst reading my library book , then finished that & DD2 returned it to the library & collected a DVD she had reserved. We have an excellent library here & less than 5 minutes walk away!

Had a lovely chat with friend from home....we can fairly talk every week....same when I was at home, we'd chat for ages on phone. I miss her very much but phonecall every week means a lot.

Right, need to go and do something! Enjoy your day , nearly dark o'clock here, though nights are starting to stetch a tiny bit longer.

Sending good vibes to your OH mhagster, hoping his health improves, and also warm wishes for a happy 20th anniversary this week! Sending now in case I miss this later, as sometimes I am too rushed/busy/tired to comment on others' posts!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

4 Cor it was like Billingsate. Have to larf when snoggled up next to Ms Sonny, at the first daters. They stick out like sore thumbs. And I did feel for the gal that date had not turned up for! But, being blonde and about 6ft, I would be out of my ....

Apols to GN, just thought of I hops it was not her!

3 Put me free bet on again. So here goes, coul;d be a night on the tiles for Mes and Ms Sonny again, so watch yer space.

2 Like all teh stories about burn offering and flaming chippies. Minds me of when in the forces, chef decided to liven up the grill area and asked if everyone wanted the mistakes well done, and before the days of squrty oil, fired off a salvo into the grill.

Meals were rather hotter and late that fine eve.

1 The sure was in view, like Brown's Carf a in Cleethorpes. Candy Floss spiriling in the pan and Donuts freesh and ready. All was open in the afternoon, ready to entertain those who had come by the seaside special. That was Summers!

    1. Yeah, racing again. George Baker the jockey has been a favourite of mine ever since I saw a documentary with him in. At 5' 10'' he has an incredible struggle with his weight and is painfully thin, but what a super jockey and nice bloke too. He rode a fantastic race today to win on good old Premio Loco, who was the complete outsider. Will be in two minds as to what to watch when Paralympics is on, suspect much channel flicking will go on.

    2. Had some YS pork fillets that I was concerned might be a little dry due to being in freezer since Jan - they weren't, but they were heavenly as I smeared each with mustard before oven baking rather than grilling. The only product that I've ever known really dry out in the freezer was some prawns that somehow got lost in the bottom of the freezer. Two years after the use-by, they were not at their best!

    3. A lovely book in the post from Amazon Vine (so it was free). Follow the Money by Steve Boggan.

    4. It's cool and wet outside but the house is fine and I'm in a T-shirt. I put a lot of this down to the new front door that was fitted late last year. Plus furry Crocs are helping to keep my feet warm, such a boost to feeling toasty.

    5. Found half a bottle of laundry liquid tucked away in a cupboard. I think this means I will have to buy more sometime in late October, thanks to being sent stuff to trial that has lasted the summer (and is still lasting!)

So pleased that all the GCSE results went well - lovely to read of this. Yesterday I had a learner pass a Maths exam at the second attempt, he hadn't revised or told me he was sitting it either (students arrange the exams themselves to fit in with shifts). So that was a relief and a pleasant surprise. He only just failed the first time, but so often when this happens students don't revise and rely on 'better luck next time' ... with mixed results.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Good evening, here are my pleasures for today:

1 - DH made me porridge for breakfast, it was delicious!

2 - Visited an old (in age as well as in time I knew her) friend, she is lovely and her son is very nice too. Italian family, so we spent a couple of happy hours chatting in Italian.

3 - Lunch with DH and DS - I had leftovers from yesterday, DS and DH had a free lunch, made of fish donated by DS's friend yesterday, green beans from the front garden, potatoes donated by another friends a few days ago.

4 - Got a notification in the post, am due a substantial tax rebate! Will pay for my trip to Italy!

5 - An OS friend's son came to fix my bike, he is a very nice person and a very competent young man. Am very grateful!

    Good night all x

    Evening all.

    1) Semi-hard boiled eggs on HM bread for breakfast. (They could have done with an extra minute or so in the pan, tbh. :o)

    2) Had a very nice chat with the mother of a new tenant who's just moving in: it's his first time away from home and I was able to reassure his mum that it's a decent building in a decent area, with a good agent that fixes problems promptly.

    3) The weather's been nowhere near as bad as was forecast, which was good as I decided to walk into the city centre to collect a parcel, only to find that it had been wrongly addressed and wasn't actually for me.

    4) Spent most of the afternoon reading my new book - I keep thinking that I should go and do something more constructive, but it hasn't happened yet. :o

    5) Pizza fakeaway for dinner - all the bits I'd usually order, but from the freezer so a fraction of the price of a real takeaway. :money:

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    1. Trip to the Swedish shop was good, we agreed on a kitchen style for my house and I found some great things I NEED for my house (rather nice coffee table for £8!! and a few other things)

    2. DD was a little star, very well behaved and good fun to be with, even though it was busy, hot, and lots of people around, most of them oiks.......grrr.......

    3. Yummy dinner courtesy of mummykins, so nice not to have to cook for a few days :)

    4. No petrol day

    5. Fingers crossed I've found a my kind of church for Sunday morning visits, time will tell tomorrow morning!

Feeling quite travel sick after being in the back of the car on long journeys today, so no wine and probably a lie down for me in a moment, DD and co watching Johnny Depp buckle his swash on tv but I don't have the enthusiasm for it right now. Have a lovely Saturday evening everyone x

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Went to see mum and dad and mum's foot is still healing OK.

    3) Went to a local National Trust place and had a run about.

    4) Found (blushes) in amongst all bigger son's stuff he had cleared out of his desk at school - a massive folder of work smaller son should have been doing all holiday! Aaaarrrgh! There is some unpleasant looking maths (hope HE knows how to do it) some nice handwriting sheets and the topic is still Greece. We have to make a Greek vase. I knew my A level in Classical Civilisation would come in useful, I could write an essay on those! Going to wax crayon a piece of card in red, paint over in black then get smaller son to scratch the black off to make a design.

    5) Second hand shops! Bigger son found a robo reptile for £3! Smaller son bought various bits of stuff.

    6) Decided to use up odd bits from the fridge for a big tea. So we had prawn cocktails (bye bye, lettuce) then homemade chicken nuggets, chips and beans then sort of fried some plums that had been going a bit soft and had them with left over rice pudding and a blob of mascarpone (spelling?)

    7) Brother here for tea and is now amusing sons so I am having 10 minutes writing this and talking to big cat.

    8) One of the kittens has gone to a new home. :-( So we are now only a 5 cat family.

    9) Looking forward to Casualty.

Less good news. Bigger son still being very difficult. He gets peeved with me and rather than stomping off, basically does a character assasination. Sometimes this gets REALLY personal. e.g he decided to "remind" me about my ex boyfriend and that his divorce hadn't gone through while we were going out - therefore I had been "having an affair" so couldn't tell him off about anything. Sometimes, the stuff he comes out with just leaves me reeling. :-(

And OH has gone off to Wales merrily for another week. I can't join him there because I can't trust my sons to behave. How bad does that sound? :-(

Anyway, I have just heard the Wii start up so thank goodness for little brothers! He and the boys will be occupied so I can do the washing up and have a cup of tea!
  • Good evening!

    1) Reading some lovely posts on MSE and seeing what good it can do people to have support when the economy is looking so dodgy.
    2) DD has finished sanding and repainting a mirror she bought in a charity shop. How MSE is that?
    3) Wearing DS's cast off socks. They were a present from someone he likes very much but rather girly, so they came my way after a decent interval.
    4) Concocted a dahl for tea with bits of garden veg and had a fruit meringue afterwards made from rejects and some left over egg whites.
    5) Eight books from the local library on different subjects. Some weren't all that interesting in the end but I tried them for free.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.
