  • Hey everyone!

This thread has really helped me reflect on how all the little MSE things I do each day help the whole picture :)

    My five for today are:

    1) HM bread for brekkie
    2) Meal plan surprised me as I will only need fresh fruit and veg for the next two weeks
    3) Taking a detour to Poundland for cleaning/kitchen supplies. Can't believe how much I used to spend!
    4) Taking a refilled bottle of water to work that I got for free. My flight was delayed yesterday so the airline offered us all a free drink. Stayed away from tempting hot choccie so I could get a free water bottle which should last me a couple of weeks! :)
    5) Finding out they have some of the River Cottage Handbooks in my local library. My housemate and I are going to learn to make blackberry jam :D

    Enjoy the sunshine!

Busy day here so far. Here are my pleasures:

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) House fairly tidy.

    3) Psych nurse found the house OK. Says smaller son is not mentally ill (he has already been discharged from CAMHS twice but school were insistent...) He says he has oppositional behaviour and autistic traits. Think I told them that... oooo.... 7 years ago?!

    4) Went to get new school shoes. Bigger son is now 5 and a half. We did try and find him shoes with velcro but his feet are now so long they look like weird old man dancing shoes! So his have laces.

    5) Went to Sainsburys.

    6) Went for a walk/scooter ride.

    7) Texts from OH. :-)

    8) Found out what has been upsetting bigger son. More of the same nonsense from his father. He has told them: I wouldn't let him have them more in the holidays (he told the court he couldn't cope with more than 2 weeks), that I have ALL his money (I get £5 a week through the CSA) and that I am generally not a lot of cop. He also had his landlord round trying to make him pay his rent and has fallen out with all his neighbours because he has decided they are drug dealers - all of them!

    9) Survival course tonight. :-) Off to the woods with the local council to build a shelter and a camp fire and cook sausages. It's 6.30 - 9.30 and was very good last year.

    Good evening all !

Frith - I hope that you all have a lovely evening on the survival course - kind of funny because I think that you could teach most people a thing or ten about "survival" ;)

CCP - Thank you x -are you on that programme called The Chaser (not as in whiskey :D). The Housemartins of course I should have remembered that ;) I hope that you got on alright today??

VJsmum - glad to hear that you are having some quality time with your OH.

Dundee - the tramp stamp sounds classy actually.Sparrer - what is yours? is it the Yin and Yang symbol??

Sonny - well caught !! I wouldn't fancy putting my hand down the pan either in Roker central :D

    5 for today

    1. Not sure if this is a pleasure -g.p signed me of another 2 weeks and changed my meds. which I hope will settle my back .

    2. Another hot day .

    3. Got my 1p book from Amaz*n - Voluntary Simplicity.Need to be in the right frame of mind and not "knocked off" on meds.

    4. Snooze this afternoon

    5. Vegetarian tea tonight -an L.McCartney veg. plait (rtc of course)

Have a good evening all !

    Mine for today:

    1. Weather still ok but not so suffocating as yesterday.

    2. Met DH for coffee after lunch as we went shopping in his lunch hour for his cousin's birthday present

    3. Lazy day, not much done but it is ok, sometime I need to take time out.

    4. Nice soup with chick peas, potatoes, swede and lots of bits and pieces from the allotment. Salad 100% from allotment.

    5. Anticipating the pleasure of finishing the outdoor workout (but first I have to go through it *LOUD GROAN*)!

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Discovering a half pack of decent ground coffee (not compatible with current coffee machine) in the permafrost of our freezer, adding boiling water and allowing to brew, chilling then smashing some ice in the food processor, adding a small dollop of (again, forgotten in the freezer!) icecream and making utterly delicious iced coffee to sip in the garden.

And husband booking a week off and look at the amazing weather!

Dear friend winning a first prize for their cauliflower at the village show - then giving it to us as 'they've eaten a lot of cauli in the last few weeks.....' Is in the oven right now as cauliflower cheese!

    Evening all.

Thanks for your good wishes for the hospital today. It wasn't too bad, although I can think of nicer ways to spend time, particularly as the lady doing the test seemed to keep forgetting I was a real person and not a training dummy and would therefore prefer not to be prodded so hard with the scanner that it left a bruise.

    1) An email from the mother of a student I've been trying to help which, in my still slightly fragile emotional state, made me cry :o - in a good way, of course, or it wouldn't be on the pleasures list!

    2) Hospital was running almost to time so I only had to wait 5 minutes past the time I was meant to be seen.

    3) Decided to cheer myself up by ordering the latest in a series of books I've grown quite fond of, paid for with vouchers from doing surveys. :money:

    4) Scampi, chips and HG French beans for dinner. I had quite a big lunch so I really didn't need it - I'm on salad for the rest of the week to make up for it. :o (Not that that's any hardship in this weather.)

    5) Cuddles with my mog, and with my little calico friend (who, not content with trying to break into my flat at every opportunity, tried to join me in my car when I got home this evening smiley-rolleyes010.gif).

Skint - it's lovely to see you back, and that you had such a nice time. :)
CCP - Thank you x -are you on that programme called The Chaser (not as in whiskey :D). The Housemartins of course I should have remembered that ;) I hope that you got on alright today??

I had to g00gle that - I've never heard of the programme. :o A while ago my pub quiz team was asked if some or all of us fancied going on Eggheads (which I've at least heard of, even if I've never seen it) - we weren't keen so the idea got dropped, but I sometimes wonder if we should have gone for it.
Discovering a half pack of decent ground coffee (not compatible with current coffee machine) in the permafrost of our freezer, adding boiling water and allowing to brew, chilling then smashing some ice in the food processor, adding a small dollop of (again, forgotten in the freezer!) icecream and making utterly delicious iced coffee to sip in the garden.

    That sounds sooo good!

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Welcome back Skint, sounds like you had a fabulous time.

Glad the hospital appointment wasn't too horrible CCP x

    1. OH here :)

    2. Lovely chats on the phone with DD, we've arranged a "playdate" for tomorrow, i.e. who will call who first thing, bless her :)

    3. Showed off my swanky new hairstyle in the office

    4. Great chat with boss

    5. OH paid for vino for us, 2 bottles, we're resisting the temptation to open the second one....

    6. Lovely email from a friend

    7. Have booked in a meeting with employee rep at work who will hopefully give me more info about what to expect.

    8. Called around for quotes and ordered cheapest heating oil to fill the tank

    9. Just bought a wind-up lantern on eb&y that should do me a good turn over the winter, I'll be like a modern Florence Nightingale!

    10. Made appointments for a carpet company and a kitchen fitter to come to the house. No money to pay for them til redundancy but good to have an idea of whether or not I can pay for them!

Errr maybe I shouldn't be soo thrilled tha OH is here as he's just fallen asleep beside me on the sofa....tee hee! Maybe the wine got to him?!?

    Evening all

    Mine for the day.

1 - Work wasn't all that bad. This is definitely a pleasure as I wasn't looking forward to it which is quite unlike me.

2 - Mam came in and took me and my gran out for lunch.

3 - Nice catch up with a friend over dinner. We've been trying to see each other for ages but things kept coming up. Excited now for her wedding next month.

4 - Two lovely texts from people I volunteer with.

5 - This thread. It's great being back and I love how kind everyone is.
