Pleasures for yesterday, if i can remember, I don't like doing them the next day!
1) My mum had her operation. She had damaged a tendon running down the inside of her ankle whilst playing tennis last year. It didn't go quite according to plan (took 1.5 hours) as the surgeon had to cut a lot of damage away. Then he took the tendon that worked her little toe but it was too short! So he took another one (?) and rebuilt the ankle tendon. She went home in the afternoon! Plaster and crutches for many weeks now.
2) Waking up with OH. :-)
3) Village show! The boys always do a few entries so got highly commended for their cornflake cakes, smaller son got 2nd for a line drawing, bigger son got 4th for an animal made from vegetables. Bigger son put his line drawing in the adults class and came 2nd! OH hadn't been to a village show before. I like walking up and down the long tables, seeing who has won a certificate.
4) Sons made another action man film.
5) Letter from smaller son's paediatrician in support of his getting a SEN statement.
But apart from all the above, not a good day. :-( Felt awful all day, basically tried to spend as much time sitting by myself as possible, whilst trying to do that without being obvious AND to give the boys at least a bit of attention. On the verge of tears all the time (and actually in tears once or twice) then had a horrible dream last night about being fitted with a gastric band against my will and woke up crying again. :-/
It is not as though there is nothing to look forward to; I don't know where it comes from. :-( Today we want to go to the local hill climb (for cars) or, failing that, we will pop out and get the boys' new school shoes. Tomorrow we're going on a council run course at night about survival. We went last year and really enjoyed making the campfire and the shelter. And it is £2.50 per person!0 -
Thank you Kittikins, feeling better now.
Frith sorry to hear you feel down, sometimes there doesn't need to be a reason, and you had more than your share of difficult times. Hope you feel happier today and also that your mum recovers soon from her op.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Poor spelling makes me cross! That's just the sort of thing I'd want to do. Good for you for having the courage :T
(And poor grammar, it should be 'keep out OF this aisle')

Wow, I hope all of the people getting early nights got some sleep in this weather.
Chicken/Sparrer:- I do love nosing at other peoples shopping, as ours is normally a sea offers vouchers and rtc’s
1. We came back from the in-laws cats lighter, and absolutely stuffed with food, all of the food we ate was home grown, apart from the ham/garlic sausage, and it was all amazing, we were stuffed with potato salad with lots of herbs, tomatoes, cucumber, beetroots, home made bread,, HM apple pie from apples in the garden. Just fantastic and had a lovely laugh.
2. The baby animals we are looking after have started to open an eye, truely amazing to see.
3. Pork roast is cooking through and filling the house with the smell of herbs, it’s not going to be proper roast by any stretch as al I’m doing is leaving the joint to cook through.
4. Started clearing out the “caravan of love” cleaning tidying and getting it ready for an outing. – shame there’s a week of work between then and now, but on the bright side more money in and the chance of more new opportunities during the week.
5. Silly amounts of washing done, 4 loads all hanging out, must remember to bring it in.0 -
My pleasures for today:
1 - Long lie in, no need as I felt much better but it felt nice and decadent for a change, lie in with no reason, other than just because!
2 - The weather is nice, I know it is a bit too hot but I love the sun/rain/sun sequences, thinking how good it is going to be for our allotment.
3 - Been with DH to friends' 30th anniversary party and had a lovely time (and too much cake).
4 - A bit of shopping after party, in the car (unusual but what a treat for a change, not having to drag the trolley behind me!), so tomorrow I do not need to go out shopping.
5 - Pan of chick peas cooked and ready to be frozen in portions when cool. Will make us a few almost-instant meals!
Have a good evening all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all.
I've been feeling a bit gloomy today, for various reasons - a not-very-good weekend, what with the unpleasant visit to the comedy club on Friday and yesterday's disappointing visit to a museum I've been desperate to go to (the new Chichester museum, which is vastly over-priced and not very interesting - I can't recommend that one), vague concerns about mog (he's looking rather skinny and listless - I'm hoping it's just the hot weather, which he hates
), a chat with DM earlier where she sounded a bit down as having her cat PTS has bought back some bad memories for her, and a hospital appointment tomorrow which I'm really not looking forward to - being poked, prodded and scanned isn't my idea of a good time.
That's when this thread is really useful, though, to make you think of the good things:
1) NSD and NPD.
2) Cleaned out all my tomato plantlets, as they clearly weren't going to get anywhere this year, and replaced them with 22 HG strawberry plantlets.
3) Watching my first Premiership match of the season - as a Portsmouth resident I'm duty-bound to despise Southampton FC, but I have to admit they played really well.
4) Stuffed baked marrow for dinner - it's one of my favourite late-summer meals, although sadly none of the ingredients are HG as I'm having a dreadful year for growing edible things.(I had a chat with my DF earlier and he says the same thing, which is a relief - if someone who's as good at gardening as he is is having problems, I know it's not that I'm doing something wrong. :undecided)
5) And I'll have a naughty glass or two of red wine with my dinner, which might help me to relax enough so I sleep tonight rather than worrying about the hospital appointment.
Re shopping - I'm always a bit worried what people think about the contents of my trolley, as there's almost never any fruit or veg as I get it all delivered by a veg box company. Not that it's anyone else's business, of course, but still...
Frith - I hope you're feeling cheerfuller by now. As Caterina says, there doesn't need to be a reason for these things - sometimes they just happen, and then go away again (we hope).
Have a nice evening, all - I hope it's warm enough for those who like it, and cool enough for those who don't.Back after a very long break!0 -
God evening all !
OT - well done on the weight loss !
CCP - good luck tomorrow ! I sympathise being prodded and poked around in hospital is never nice - but it helps if the clinician introduces themselves first and explains what they are going to do.
Frith - ((hugs)) to you - although don't beat yourself up , you are allowed to gave "off days " .
PK - the baby animals sound lovely.I bet you refer to the caravan
as "The Caravan of Love" in your head now . Was it a song by The Smiths song or the Beautiful South I can't remember??
Dundee - what is the tattoo going to be ?? My cousin calls them Tramp Stamps - which makes me a tramp then and my Mum who had her first one done at aged 72 !!!
5 for yesterday
1. The lovely weather
2. Keeping the hens cool with melon and grapes from the fridge all day as they were panting and had their wings out to try and cool down. Two even laid eggs in the evening which is very unusual for my lot.
3. Quorn burgers in buns
4. A cheeky glass of wine with my Mum.
5. OH out so watched The Lovely Bones all the way through with out falling asleep
5 for today
1. A bit coolerbut can't do a thing with my hair in this weather !
2. My family came down from London to visit my Mum - there was around 14 of us . I have not seen my nephew for a year and he is now over 6ft 6 at 17 yrs and has started weigh lifting and is now enormous. He didn't know that I was an Instructor and had competed . Anyway he had a good laugh at some photos of me circa 1990 !!
3. Gave my sister 24 eggs as the above nephew eats her out of house and home, she drove off without them but came back to collect them .
4. Was asked by my sister - in -law to have a "chat " with my niece about things of a delicate nature for a 15 year old iyswim. I may traumatise her for life so will need to think about how to raise the subject in a "jaunty auntie " type way.
5.Reflecting on having had a nice relaxing weekend
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

It was The Housemartins, actually - the forerunners of the Beautiful South. Sorry, I do too many pub quizzes - it's an automatic reaction!Back after a very long break!0
