hello,Sunday evening here, pouring with rain and internet connection is dodgy...just hoping this post works!

    weekend pleasures:

1.The Olympic opening ceremony: well I got up at early o'clock to watch it and I thought it was absolutley fantastic. It made me proud to be British (Scottish first of course!!) and I thought all of it was just fab until they wheeled on Mr McCartney!!

    2. Getting some DVDs free from library.

3.Shopping this morning for food, a few bargains. Shopping with girls this afternoon ....a few more bargains! Went for shoes for work.....didn't get them but 2 pairs of pretty pumps! (in the sale!) and a teeshirt for work.

4.Tidied wardrobe and organised my work clothes to make things a bit easier in the mornings.

5.Not getting caught in the torrential downpours that have been on and off all day.

6.Washing, ironing, hoovering, clean bathrooms & kitchen all up to date to start the week.

7.Organised some paperwork. OH being ill generates a tremendous amount of paperwork, so sorted stuff out for that....can see my desk again.....orchids from 3 weeks ago still very pretty.

8.Made RTC meatballs with pasta sauce and spaghetti for kids tea. I just had some pasta. They were wolfed down
    .
9.Have slept a lot ....must be needing it. OH not sleeping well so I'm not either plus an early rise to watch olympics meant I was very tired yesterday so snooooozed .

10.Trying hard to watch Casualty from last Saturday....taken over 2 hours of stopping and starting due to internet being so pants! Nearly there!

11.Re-reading emails from friends from when OH was first diagnosed and when he had his first surgery and looking at photos on my ipad from the weekend he was diagnosed and I see that we have moved forward. He is very poorly just now but will get over it. The side effects of radiotherapy are so harsh and it's hard for me to deal with emotionally but when I read back at where we were 3 months ago I see we have moved forward a few steps and taken a couple of steps to the side but we will get back on track. We will!

obviously I'm in Australia so TV coverage concentrates on the Oz olympic team which is so biased!! They won a gold medal in swimming and the host country haven't won any ......er, it only started yesterday!!! And no mention of China who at this point had won 5 Gold medals!

    Fingers crossed this works!

    3. started sorting out wardrobes, drawers etc and will carry on for the next couple of weeks (on and off) and hopefully be ready for when the exchange student comes. so at least he will have some wardrobe space for his gear.

    2. house is nice and quiet as DH has gone to help fund raise for the First Responders at our local bash.

    1. spoke to soon, the gates just gone and hes home.....:rotfl:

    Hi all

Here are my pleasures and blessings:

1 - Woke up in the middle of the night, feeling down, but around 4am heard DD coming back home, so had a nice hug and then managed to get back to sleep until 7:30 am.

2 - Talked with DH first thing in the morning then went back to sleep for another hour

3 - Sunshine for most of the morning, rain during lunchtime, nice so I do not have to go and water the allotment, now sunshine again means I can go out for a nice walk

4 - Lovely lunch with DS and his friends

5 - Long chat with a friend on the phone, catching up after we haven't spoken for a while.

Have a good evening all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Thinking of you and yours McHags.

1.In very late from in laws and up reasonably early so very tired, I’m feeling a bit beyond being able to crawl into bed at 4am and get up again at 9am, may have to have a nap later.
    2.A Sunday morning bacon sarnie.
3.Off to an afternoon boot fair where we picked up 2 bargins, a caravan good named stabiliser for 20p and a brand new sky remote for 4.
4.Picked up a reduced pork joint from Costco which is being roasted this afternoon with lots of veggies and roast pots. Also made and cooking a chicken pie for tomorrows tea using the heat from the roast cooking. Feeling ultra organised.:rotfl:
5.Planted the lovely roses MIL grew for us to go in the front hedge to give it a bit of colour, but it is there to do a job and boy the prickles do that well. Every plant she gives us does so so well.
6.Just booked tickets to a steam fair we always go to, had to wait till it’s close to make sure we had enough stashed to be able to enjoy a break.
    7. Bought a local rag as it has a competition in it I’m giving a shot. :)

I'd assumed that the presence of Mr McCartney was to persuade everyone watching that it was time to go to bed / go and do something more useful. ;)

    1) Sausage sarnie for breakfast.

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) I'd planned on having a lazy day but that was scuppered by a nasty attack of fidget-itis, so I've: washed the kitchen floor; de-limescaled the draining board; washed and dried two lots of clothes; washed my hairbrush; packed my bag for tomorrow;and done various bits in the garden (including putting some more netting on the front bed, as what I did yesterday simply resulted in the pesky cat doing its business on the netting smiley-rolleyes007.gif).

    4) More 'help' from the little calico cat - I think her owners must be away on holiday as I get ecstatic, purry greetings every time she sees me at the moment.

    5) Despite all that activity, I've managed to watch (or half watch while doing other things) cycling (yay, our first medal! :j), swimming, gymnastics, archery, handball, and a grand prix. :)

I'll be off for the next few days, although I might pop into the forum from my DM's computer - she's an OSer as well, so she'll understand. :) Have a lovely evening and next few days, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

Hope everyone is okay, get well wishes to the poorlies and hugs to anyone who needs or just wants

Just back from my weekend away, had a super time and am totally exhausted. Lots of meeting old and new friends (there were 500+ people there, many from my area) lots of get-togethers formal and not so formal, food, dancing and laughter. As we say, we are not a glum lot!

As it was a bit of an extravagant weekend I don't think I can fairly list any as OS pleasures unless you count...

    1. not a drop of alcohol drunk by anyone the whole weekend, but ee bah gum did we eat! Not going to weigh myself until several gym sessions have passed :o

    2. The car ran smoothly with the 4 of us ladies and all the luggage we needed for a 48-hour stay ;)

    3. We had to come off at J15 and divert across country after a three hour crawl. Learned later that J16 was closed completely due to an accident. Although I feel for whoever was involved, the blessing was that we weren't. It took us 5 1/2hrs to travel a 1 1/2hr trip but we arrived well in time for Friday dinner :)

    3. We took a picnic for Sat lunchtime as we were staying half board, and the weather was nice enough for us to sit on the lawn by the lake near the NEC and feed the ducks

    4. The lady I shared a room with and I found we have so much in common (apart from the obvious!) that we sat up in the coffee lounge til after 2am both nights. For some reason it didn't occur to us to go to bed and talk

    5. For the future - there's another weekend at Hayling Island in Sept so we've booked ahead for that

    6. I've unpacked and tidied everything away, and have a load in the wm

    7. Just had a quick shower and am going to flop into bed, then collect muttley after the gym tomorrow

    Night night, sweet dreams :)
