Sorry to hear your OH is feeling rough, MHags.

Here are my pleasures for today (so far).

    1) Another lie in thanks to my mobile phone going flat overnight and the alarm not going off...

    2) School open again after flooding.

    3) Did lots of little jobs - clothes to the charity shop, library, paid for new windows, Sainsburys etc.

    4) Popped down to see mum and dad.

    5) My brother came up and is going to help me mend the leaking part of the chimney next week. Got to go to B and Q for the laths and cement.

    6) Texts from OH. :-) His bigger son has broken his wrist. :-(

    7) Going to school in a bit to see photos of when bigger son went to France.

Pleased to report, kitchen/breakfast room done, understairs cupboard done, under my bed done and airing cupboard done. Starting on DH side of the wardrobe this week.

    3. got sausage, sort of casserole, for tea which I will put with pasta and top with parmasen, drooling just thinking about it....

    2. got a treat this thursday/friday, am off to somewhere in Yorkshire with DH (he is working and I am going for the ride and a nose around the charity shops)! Treatsville!!

    1. next door finally cut down some of his humungous brambles, only 17' in length to go and I dont somehow think he will do much more.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

    1) No rain today. Not a single drop. At work we put it down to a colleague who got drenched in a downpour yesterday and was very pleased with himself for remembering his umbrella today - which of course he didn't need. We've asked him to bring an umbrella every day from now on if it's going to have that effect! :rotfl:

    2) A colleague recommended that I try one of the little electrical devices for relieving the nasty mozzie bite on my leg, and I'm pleased (if somewhat surprised) to say that it actually works. I was even more pleased to get £1 off with a voucher. :money:

    3) Finally got round to paying in the cheque my GM sent me a few weeks ago. :o

    4) Picked a small handful of HG French beans and the last few HG blackcurrants.

    5) Had a few thoughts about how to recreate the watercress focaccia I bought on Sunday: despite the dubious colour, it's fantastically tasty.

mhags - best wishes to your DH - I really hope he feels much better soon.
Back after a very long break!

    Good evening all!

mhagster - ((hugs)) to your DH x

VJsmum- happy birthday to your DD - presents and a Prom in a fortnight , lucky girl.

mcculloch- Mayson is a stunner isn't he - a workman like type , honest and a real tryer .

OT- Oooh ..Bathsheba Everdene (sp) said in a west country accent .

    6 for today

    1. Work was busy ! Day went swiftly however my head thinks it is Wednesday .

    2. The torch went past ... did it? Was left answering the bliddy phones as Head of my unit wanted lots of information at this particular time emailed to her, so by default only one left in office .

    3.Lovely weather :)

    4. Enchiladas for tea OH likes the "mild" flavoured kit . Coward:rotfl:

    5. Popped over DM's for a cup of tea after work, sat in her conservatory with stockinged feet up and her window cleaner came. A young chap nice and polite too. She said he never puts the ladder there, he never knocks on the back door he usually goes to the front door for his money. She thinks he was looking at my legs :rotfl::rotfl:
    6. OH has just given me a crunchy oat bar which were being handed out as a promo. near his workplace.

    Have a good evening all!
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
  • Hi all!

Chickenopolis - I make enchiladas by putting mild-ish chilli con carne in wraps, covering with grated cheese and baking - very yummy and a little twist on the real way of making it. I am quite cowardly too lol!

CCP - No rain here today either - what a lovely change hey!?

Mishmogs - I am very envious of your charity shopping day out - Weirdly it has become tradition now that whenever we visit a new place (especially on holiday) we have to check out the CS's and see if we can find a bargain!

Frith - Hope your OH's son feels better soon x

Mhagster - Sending thoughts and good wishes to you and your hubby x

Oldtractor - I am hoping to find a little more freedom by having less 'stuff' too! Feels like walking in quicksand when you have two kids though lol.

    My 5 for today -
    1. Ordered coal for winter, compared best prices on the net, contacted the cheapest and managed to negotiate a £4.50 discount and free delivery. :money:
    2. Won a 20p walkers coupon on their FB site.
    3. Used reusable nappies on my daughter for the first time today (used them on my son before), used 4 today so 27p saving!
    4. Stuck to meal plan.....again :)!
    5. NSD
    6. Flannelette sheets and pillowcases arrived - very happy with them, I will wash and dry them later in the week when they can go on the line.
    7. Doing a big stock up shop online to help keep me on the straight and narrow and only need to go to actual shops once a week for fresh things. Reviewed basket and took out anything unhealthy (ahem except a pack of chocolate malted milk biscuits :rotfl:). Should have all the basics now to utilise any cheap meat I find and any homegrown produce I have.
    8. Just about to make a lovely cup of tea and do a bit of tidying up, then I will relax for the evening and try and get an early night (only got 4 hours sleep last night due to teething DD!)
    9. Feeling VERY THANKFUL that the window on the car was closed when DS shouted 'look mummy theres humpty dumpty' at a man walking past the car!:embarasse

    Thats all from me -
2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.

Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
    Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(

IWAB - LOL at your son. We used to have a coal man called Mr Coleman - strange but true
    Whit woo, Chicken legs!
OT - did far from the Madding Crowd for my O level english (giving my age away!!). We called the heroine Bathsheba Runnerbean.
I was going to say that I had enchilada for lunch - then I remembered they were quesadilla.

So for today. I am in a very grumpy mood as a large part of my afternoon was spent sitting in traffic and the reason I was out and about was to collect my marking and I found that they have extended the hand in deadline for assignments and so far only 1 has been handed in. I then went to collect exam scripts and was too late and the office was shut

    Anyhow

    1. DD has had the last of her HPV jabs. It has been a bit of hassle, largely because I didn't want her to have them at age 12 so we have had to go a bit out of our way for her to get them now. Still, we expected to have to pay and we haven't so that is all good.
    2. Soak in the bath this morning.
    3. DD did hoovering and ironing. It isn't all bad, her being off school
    4. OH and I mended the fence - 10 minutes he said. Twas at least an hour
    5. Ifit pie for tea - if it's edible your lucky. Pot luck from the freezer. Luckily we were lucky. My rabbit pie would have been nicer if it had had some rabbit in it.

    Right, gotta wrap some pressies.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    3. One day less at work to go now before break for summer

Evening :) Have just popped online for a bit as I'm now getting over a massive headache I've had all evening. I don't know if it's related to the heavy atmosphere but I'm feeling a bit better now. Anyway, here goes with some pleasures:

    1. Had fish & chips (with chippy chips!) as a one-off treat. I had the fish in the freezer already needed using up so have ticked off two parts of my list - freezer clearout and one-off takeaway!
    2. Headache is subsiding. :)
    3. Have done a bit of filing and am filled with the organisational need!
    4. The sun. It's actually been quite nice today.
    5. Nearly bedtime.

Well, have a lovely evening, everyone (((hugs))) to those in need. Thinking of you.

    K xx
