Hi All & thanks chickenpolis!
My 5 for today:
1. Lovely lazy morning including one point for around half an hour hubby & both kids were napping - Bliss!!
2. Leftovers from last night birthday food for both dinner & tea.
3. Savings TRF'd to ISA & put in sealed tin for the week (£24ish) - teeny tiny steps towards home ownership one day! AA renewal price £102 - price after new quote & cashback £32!
4. Winter preparations in full swing - bought 4 single flannelette sheets, 4 double & 6 pillowcases for £20ish after 10% discount and will get £1.23 cashback. Going to order some coal tomorrow too. (Really want to make up for last year when I was having a terrible time heavily pregnant hospitalised EVERY weekend in December bar xmas weekend and really felt I let my son down. This winter is going to be great - no jobs just fun!)
5. Had a 2.5 mile family walk down the canal in the sun & 'rescued' two baby mice, then went swimming with my friend and although only managed 12 lengths this time (we have done up to 30 before) felt good to see her and do something productive whilst we nattered!
6. Found a 2 inch runner bean that seems to have grown overnight!
I LOVE runner beans and cannot wait for the first harvest.
7. Looking forward to the week ahead and fingers crossed a marginally better one weather wise!
Stacey x2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0 -
What a Happy post Stacey!0

1. NSD
2. Did some weeding, well quite a bit of weeding, especially by my standards and the front garden does look a lot better
3. Yummy leftover soup for lunch
4. DD and I made scrummy pasta bake for dinner
5. We went on the world's shortest bike ride but at least we got some fresh air, as DD sagely reminded me0 -
Evening all.
1) A nice lie-in this morning. I actually woke up quite early for a weekend, but it took me some time to summon up the energy to get up.
2) A very nice double refund from a supermarket for some poor quality meat they sold me. :T
3) Wandered round the local food festival. I can't think of many nicer ways to spend a Sunday afternoon than wandering around, chatting to stall-holders and nibbling free samples of various tasty treats.
4) I was fairly restrained in the face of temptation and bought only the things I'd intended to buy, plus a large tub of Spanish smoked paprika (an absolute bargain at £2.50) and a new dahlia (which is neither a bargain nor particularly tasty, but is an absolute beauty with dark red leaves and bright yellow flowers).
5) Went to watch the Olympic Torch come through Portsmouth and was impressed with how good-natured the whole thing was. One policeman was sounding the siren on his motorbike simply because it was making a little girl in the crowd laugh.
6) An overheard comment - "that was a waste of time - it's just some bloke running along with a flame". Well, yes - that's rather the point of the exercise! :rotfl:
7) Popped in to a pub on the way home and was able to sit outside, albeit with my teeth chattering so hard I could barely drink my cider.
8) If we're sharing guilty food secrets, Skint and LavenderBees - I had a sausage sarnie for tea - wild boar and cider snags on watercress foccacia. (Very posh, but no healthier than a normal sausage sarnie I suspect.)
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
My birthday today so:-
1. Had my cards and pressies brought to me in bed with a lovely cup of coffee.
2. We took the dogs out for a long walk to a country house where we can walk the dogs down by the river - bliss
3. Cooked Sunday lunch and made a Victoria sandwich cake as well.
4. Had said big slice of cake with a nice cup of tea this afternoon.
5. Sat and watched an episode of Vera which I have on DVD while relaxing.
Thank goodness it didn't rain today and oh I got two loads of washing dried on the line as well so that was an added bonusCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Rainy-Days belated Happy Birthday, here's a little extra something for you to have with your coffee tomorrow :bdaycake:
IWAB darn I never thought of that. Put it down to my age, I have to write things down if I need to remember therm these days
1. Watching Sue Perkins and Liza Tarbuck driving the Ho Chi Minh Trail, quite nerve wracking in places but so exciting. Well done them!
2. The decorator phoned and is going to come tomorrow to start on the woodwork, and refit the lounge/porch door which I have to use two hands to open
3. The sun came out for most of the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. Good lunchtime meeting with friends who afterwards took me for a super meal in a pub restaurant to celebrate my birthday. It's not for another 10 days but we can only go on Sundays and next week I won't be here (duty visit to DM). They even ordered a birthday cake with candles, which the waitress brought with our coffee. What special friends, and what a lovely surpriseSkint and LB, we'll call our little secrets, our little secrets!
5. T'was a real pleasure to do some gardening in the sunshine this afternoon, even if I did cut through the wire for the string of lights over my lilac tree. It's looking good, didn't get time to mow the lawn but fingers crossed for another dry one tomorrow
Night night, sleep tight0
