DD- fab books love Maya Angelou , is the rivals by Sheridan or Jilly Cooper ???? "Caged bird" and the Rivals were my A level set books 300 years ago !

I am a philistine and would rather read Jilly!! :o I have seen the other one though in the theatre - is that the one with Mrs Malaprop?

    3) Wandered round the local food festival. I can't think of many nicer ways to spend a Sunday afternoon than wandering around, chatting to stall-holders and nibbling free samples of various tasty treats. :)

    Me neither.

    Happy Birthday IWAB and Rainydays.

Lots for the weekend - many involving my very funny and great value niece aged 12

    so, here goes

    A list of "Lauren-isms"

    1. Well, the first one isn't but has to in there as context setting - it was my brother's 40th birthday and he and we enjoyed his surprise party. Lauren is his daughter
    2. A lovely one for me as she told me "you look like Nanny - you have her eyes". My dear mum died over 2 years ago so it was lovely that a 12 year old can remember her to that extent.
    3. TO my husband "you don't say a lot do you!" very rude but had us :rotfl:
    4. Asking what my middle name was, I told her to guess and said that the clue was that I was born at christmas time - "Eve", "Mary", "Brussels" :rotfl::rotfl: (it is actually Carole! but I thought Eve was genius and as for Brussels "Well, I eat those at christmas" :rotfl:)
    5. She asked what I liked to watch on TV and asked if I watched Eastenders, when i said no she announced to the whole room that she had never met anyone who didn't watch it before!

    OK some without Lauren

1 Spending time with my lovely sister and drinking a glass to many of wine
2/ Having hysterics at her OH who said he was put off Turkish delight on his Holiday in Tunisia as ther were a lot of rats. When asked why that put him off Turkish delight he said it was because it came from Tunisia. My sister said "so you heard the T but not the "urkish" "
    3. Seeing my dad 3 times while we were down. So sad for him that he couldn't get to the party but I told him we'd do something after he gets out of hospital to have a family get together. He should be out next week
    4. Seeing my older brother let his hair down after having to deal with many family issues he has (see former posts)
    5. Dinner at MILs on way home and yet another lovely niece was there.
    6. LIstening to "cabin pressure" on the journeys down and back - very funny, I have fallen more than a little bit in love with Bendydick Cumberbatch
    7. It hasn't rained to day - and it's St Swithens and all
    8. Ate a star bar as my hangover cure - bliss
    9. Teaching my nephew to use scissors. He is only 3 and a real handful, but I think he just wants to learn stuff.
    10. Seeing my DS with said nephew and nephew calling DS "Joe man". I think "Joeman" may get fed up with us continuing in this fashion :rotfl:

Busy week, busy week as we are building up to our next trip.
    Night, night all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Happy birthday, Rainy-days!

    5 for today (Sunday)

    1) Stayed overnight at OH's house.

    2) OH put up with my getting very stressed.

    3) OH's sons quite jolly.

    4) Roast dinner.

    5) Watched a DVD.

    6) Quick drive back home again.

    7) Kittens. :-)

    8) My school friend came round and has not long gone.

    9) Bag of clothes for my smaller son that OH's bigger son has grown out of. Smaller son is 8 in age 11 clothes as he is so tall.

    10) Day off school tomorrow (not that smaller son would be going anyway as his exclusion has been mysteriously extended until September....) It is shut for flooding. That's all we know. Which is strange as it is on a hill! Some of the roads locally are shut where the river has burst its bank, but not actually by the Severn.

    11) Oh yes, and made a lovely fruit salad from the fruit smaller son won at bingo! Melon, apple, oranges, bananas and some blueberries.

  • Morning all. See wes still have early risers. Hope chicks alright at that hour. As for the cat dog rodeo, our tiger got out the back yesterday to beast up, ate too much and the six foot gate door is too much for him nowadays, Ms Sonny had to go out and let the thing back in. Still, sorry chicks, but last notes chickens breasts were grounded for him, so this morn he is over feasted again. Do the blooooooding things ever learn?

Still, she bought him home from cats pro. They can come and rescue him back.

Rite off to doctors again, get this medical appointment sorted

    2 For now.

2 Sum club guitarist had his amp shut down I hear. Mes dad said they should have stayed in the cavern. Going to be controversy there, but in land of TILAMS, is it not time to slooooooooooow this 24/7 media pc induced hype and stop all noise pollution in residential areas at 8:00 pm. That includes deliveries and sporting events as well. Before anyone says it, football in the evening can kick off at 5:45. And on Sunday, how about a day of refreshment without the chortling of ...

1 And in the end, our record cards will be checked. Those who have done good will be feted. Those who ave fiddled will be out. Looks like our mps and bankers have had it then.

Have decided to take morning off as totm (tmi?) and have back ache :-( but for yesterday
    1) going past churches and catching the odd alleluiah (sadly my host has been totally turned off religion by the homophobic stance so we didnt go to mass)
    2) nice valley walk. The moutain didnt fall on us (at one point we laid down a stick to ensure safe passage-so many sticks all neatly laid out ranging from 10cm to caber!)
    3) traditional mushroom soup at hostellery at end of walk
    4) melted cheese and cranberry sauce from street vendor :j
    5) hunters' stew, highlander dumplings and mulled wine inthe evening in bar with band and dancing. We watched the couples dancing and made up back stories for them like they do in True Lies

    Pleasures for today so far.

    1) Lovely lie in! No school today because of floods so smaller son and I woke up at 9.30. This was partly because Barry the cat was gruesomely ill at 2.30am which woke us and took a good while to clean up...

    2) Texts and emails from OH. :-)

    3) New windows fitted! Due to be fitted tomorrow but they had 2 chaps free today. Just the windows on the road side of the house but they are so much better than the old ones that you could barely see out of due to the condensation between the 2 panes of glass.

    4) Had good tidy up after windows were finished. Lounge looking good now.

    5) Sorted out the boys wardrobe. Its very handy having both sons the same height! Bag of clothes for charity shop and bag for OH to try for his sons.

    6) Texted a friend from Sixth Form College to say my sons are away next week and perhaps I could pop in and have a cup of tea. She texted back to say she is free mid week so I'm going to see her, do the charity shops and have a take away in the evening! Her husband also went to Sixth Form with us so very much looking forward to that.

    7) Smaller son and I made a loaf of bread which came out well.

    8) Kittens :-)

    9) Looking forward to I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue later on.

    Good evening all!

Dundee - you do crack me up - sounds like you are having a lovely time though !

    a few for today

    1. Work was hideous ....but now it's over now for today !

    2. Wore some new Red Herring skinny leg cords that I got in the sales for about £3.80 ages ago, to work - low rise but too big on the waist now :) Just the right kind of trousers for this time of year ! Need a "food baby" as our millie would say .

    3. My DM is pleading poverty due to weekly injections for dog at vets. I did laugh as she is NOT poor (savings = other money my dear) So I counted and bagged up her change and reminded her that the vet said he would take back some unused blisterpacks of tablets and knock it off of the bill . Peace is restored OS:rotfl:

4.Rtc prawn passander for tea will shove some courgettes in it from the Somme/ garden.

    5. Put dregs of red wine not used for cooking in the ice cube tray to use it up About to turn sad old half eaten loaf into breadcrumbs to freeze- very OS !

Bet the racing is cancelled on Friday at Ascot :(

    Have a good evening all!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

I'm sorry to start with a whinge, but I'm really not a very happy bunny this evening. I've found out through conversations with friends and colleagues that I'm not the only one having problems with mail going missing, and one colleague has reported this to the police as theft. I tried to do the same, and the police officer I spoke to responded that "it's not our problem". I asked, for clarification, if she was refusing to investigate a reported theft, and she said yes!:mad: I've now written a strongly worded letter to Royal Mail warning them that I've spoken to the police - leaving out the fact that they've refused to help ;) - and will go to the local paper tomorrow to see if they'd like to do an investigation. What a little troublemaker I am... :rotfl:

    Anyway,

    1) My day started badly when I found that the posh lemon and ginger yoghurts I'd bought from my veg box company had all gone off (they tasted fizzy, which I guess means they're starting to ferment ). A phone call later, I had some serious apologies, a promise to investigate with the supplier, a full refund, and a free replacement pack on its way to me in my next order. Excellent service from Abel & Cole. :T

    2) Scrummy lunch of RTC crab pate on some of the watercress bread I bought yesterday - I did get some odd looks for tucking into a slice of green bread, though!

    3) By mid-afternoon my stomach was rumbling and I thought I didn't have anything to eat, then remembered I'd bought some replacement yoghurts in my lunchbreak and they were sitting in the office fridge. :)

    4) When I got home I realised I'd forgotten to buy cat food so I had to go out again, but walking home in the wind and rain was a surprising pleasure - it feels like autumn, which is my favourite time of year.

    5) Picked up some RTC breaded chicken while buying the cat food, so dinner will be chicken inna bun with lettuce and mayo. Yum.

Chicken - having said that about dinner, your passander sounds even better.

VJsmum - LOL at Brussels - I can sort of see where she's coming from...

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    A few pleasures for today:

    1. Cleaned the oven door and can see through it again!
    2. Got most of my weekly shopping and it didn't come to as much as I thought.
    3. Checked the points balances on my store cards (hadn't checked in ages) and discovered I'd more than I thought!
    4. Filled the car up and realised it'd been quite a while since I last filled up - longer than usual - have got better MPG :D
    5. Feeling tired but OK

I'm going to sleep well tonight. OK, so rather guiltily I had a tin of pop from the machine at work (70p argh!) but I'm not doing so bad. Things are getting a little bit tighter moneywise so am aiming to cut back a bit. Again. :P Well, I'm off to start cooking tea. Have a lovely evening, everyone. (((hugs))) to those in need.

    K xx
