  • Hello everyone!

Quite a slow 'average' day today.

    1. Stuck to meal plan again.
    2. NSD.
    3. Lovely visit to see my parents.
    4. Feeling pleased with my savings for a house deposit and managing (just) to hold back the feelings of impatience.
    5. Kids being very cute today.
    6. Someone I know who is very lonely is 'chatting' to a lady - I'm hoping desperately that it all works out and he can find a companion!
    7. Planning a house declutter to get rid of clutter and things holding negative energy. Space in the house is space in the head!.

    Night all!

    Stacey
2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.

Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
    Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(

    1. NSD

    2. DD and I had lots of cuddles, songs, silliness and fun before getting up and dressed for work and school this morning :)

    3. Cheapy light fitting arrived for the kitchen (N&xt sale) and I think I love it, havent put it up yet, but maybe tomorrow!

    4. I found out that the new heat detector in the kitchen works ;) Darn my good book taking my mind off the dinner cooking under the grill!

    5. Six more great books taken out from the library, I'm so lucky to work near the town library :)

    6. Nice email from a girly chum, trying to arrange a weekend trip to see her soon

    7. Great physio session

    8. DD was given the DVD of all the films made at her film week during the Easter holidays, and we had a great time watching them.

Just a quickie before the site goes down for yet more maintenance - keeps the techs busy ;)

CCP your #2 had me giggling, could just imagine your colleagues faces :D

    1. Up early (for me) to get the doors/frames washed down ready for the painter - who sent me a text at 2pm to say he couldn't come at 1pm so I had a siesta instead :)

    2. Cleaned the bathroom before I went out

    3. Completed the circuit. Had to ask for a review as the rowing machine is right under an aircon vent which is giving the lungs a really hard time, so I get a revised plan tomorrow. Pity, I like the rowing machine, I can close my eyes and drift off to row on the river where the weeping willows brush the water, gliding by the English countryside with it's fields, cows, sheep and genteel waterside houses with their manicured lawns rolling down to their jetties. Bet the new exercise is the cross trainer aka skiing machine - I hate the cold, brrr!

    4. nsd

    5. Rep from the survey site came to collect the monitor gadget, and gave me £15 of L2S vouchers for my trouble. It was no trouble, I thought the reward was very fair for doing nothing.

    Sweet dreams :)

    Morning all

A quick posting before getting "Joeman" out of bed

    1. Invgilation <<yawn>> but with no marking to do yet, I took my laptop and caught up with MSE
    2. Two of the students didn't turn up so I only had one to invigilate (I was with students who need a separate room and longer time) but the one that did turn up was the one who only needed 2 hours, not 4
    3. Went shopping for DDs birthday tomorrow. Bit worried as some Am*zon stuff hasn't arrived. Also bought DS some clothes for our holiday - and he likes them <<faint>>
    4. Had gammon for tea that was left over from Sunday and donated by the MIL
    5. More holiday things booked, it is starting to come together

Strange day today, DD needs to be taken for her third HPV jab (cervical cancer - I wouldn't let them give it to her at 12, so it has been slightly more hassle to ensure she gets it) then I have to run round collecting exam papers and assignments for a night of marking. And make sure there are plentiful parcels for DD in the morning and clean the house.

    Strewth

    Have a good day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Just realised after bin locked out for an age, or fifteen minutes, that I had comma in my user name. Blow it.

Great morning, there is a fire in the sky. The yellow thing is burning away like a good one.

What a lot of lovely pleasures to catch up on.
ccp I always think you cook lovely meals for yourself!
VJsmum In our family we have 'emma-isms' my niece has said a few over the years (but we love her all the same:) )
Belated birthday wishes to the birthday girls sounds like you had lovely days!

A few pleasures over past few days: I am still coughing & spluttering but not as badly as this time last week, more a residual (very annoying ) cough:

Had 3 days of work, last week.

Slept on & off most of the weekend, I obviously needed it,

3 Radiotherapy sessions to go. Thank goodness, He is very poorly and very hard for me to see him like this and know there is nothing I can do but just be there for him.

A lot of bargain fruit at supermarket. I have been taking it to work with me, peeling it ,putting it in a bowl and making sure I eat it (often it would linger all week )

Met a Welshman today who has just arrived in Melbourne and introduced him to another Welshman who happened to be in! Felt I had done a good deed as I know how difficult it can be when you first emigrate here.

Got my eyebrows waxed today (seriously needed doing! )less gorilla like now!

Went to Charity shop and bought a lovely skirt for work, 2 cardis, jeans for DD2 (very expensive brand apparently!) Had nice chat with assistant at till.

Seeing daffodils from the train , snowdrops in my garden & looking out a side window in my room (we keep the blind down) and 3 beautiful camelia bushes in beautiful full bloom.....perhaps Spring is round the corner?

Birdies! Parrots, lorrikeets , heron like bird wading in the river, cockatoos ,so,so noisy as they wake up in the morning as I walk from carpark to work, the trees literally teem with them.

Took kids out for tea last night. OH is really struggling with nausea and cooking smells are very difficult for him. Did him a favour really. Had yummy Thai food .

There, that's a few things that made me happy. As the nurse tells my bhusband every week......look for the positives! We do (sometimes hard though) and look forward to this week finishing.

Have a lovely day,I really do enjoy reading each & every pleasure you all write about.

ETA an other pleasure! Receiving my Marks & Spencers delivery yesterday (was so excited!) undies, teeshirts and school tights! And with various discounts ,it cost less than it would have done originally even with 15 pounds delivery.....so a bargain!

    1) the bright side of having totm backache was i stayed in in the morning and didnt get soaked to the skin like the other 3 and had a good read :D
    2) codeine taken effect by the time they got back. Once the drowned rats had dried out we went for a late lunch in a swiss restaurant and had mead
    3) work emails doing funny things but i dont care I refuse to check them but am bemused by the number unread. Having got up to 148 sunday went down to 68 monday climbed to 104 and now backto 78. Very nice not to be reading them :j:
    4) after a rest back here we went to a polish tea shop. I had scrummy cheesecake and mulled wine
    5) and then to bed. Am now enjoying daughter of china, also recommended on this thread. I have a new challenge for you all on my return...

Went to log on late last night but things were out of action.
1.Phone chat with friend who has been ill for a looong time, she is hoping to re-re-locate back up here from Midlands but very little available in housing line.
    2. Horse called Mayson winning the July Cup on Saturday (big race). Hand-reared as a foal by his owner - breeders after his Mum died, can imagine how they must have felt. Also first UK Group 1 for his lovely jockey, who has just returned after injury.
    3. Gradually working through a HUGE pile of ironing. Most of it is summer clothing that has been in storage since last Oct.
    4. My lovely new wind-up radio that works so well. Previous wind-up radio gives 10 minutes listen for 3 minutes high-speed winding. Don't know how long this one lasts as it was still going strong 50 minutes after the 1 minute of brisk winding.
    5. My cleaner announced today she is off on her hols next week, which gives me an unexpected extra £20 of spending money for my break (next Mon-Thu).
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
