5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Went to bed later but still only managed 6 hours solid sleep, pleasure is that I had a cup of tea and managed to nod off again
2. Bacon, egg, fried potatoes and beans for lunch,
(Yes I am trying to lose weight, but the bacon was grilled (all fat removed) the potato was cooked in microwave and then browned in a squirt of 1calorie oil/spray along with the egg), and it was delish
3. Managed 2 loads of washing dry between the showers. Lovely sunny and blue sky, then sudden downpour for 10 mins while still sunny.... no rainbows tho
4. NSD/NPD
5. Managed 45 min walk, and took my raincoat, so kept dry in the rain showers. (Apart from the sweat ....eww)
Walked onto the local wildlife common land, and along the foreshore where the tide was in so I was listening to the waves crashing on the pebbles. Cut back through the houses past the local pond and there were 2 mummy ducks today with 8 babies between them. The babies are so comical like little black balls of fluff ...(not sure what sort of bird they are, not moorhens or "normal" ducks - mothers are quite small and brown and got tufts on their heads?)... and when they realise how far away mum is they almost run on top of the water to get to herAlso saw the swans and their cygnets which are getting rather large now

Could they have been tufted ducks?
1) NSD and NPD.
2) Had a chat with my DM and have made tentative arrangements to visit her and my DF within the next few weeks, partly for the sad reason of saying goodbye to their cat, who they've had since I was a teenager and who is probably going to have to be PTS in the not too far future.
3) Watched the grand prix and the tennis, although sadly not the result I wanted in either.(No offence to Mark Webber or to Roger Federer, but they're not who I was supporting in either case.)
4) Made a big batch of chilli con carne using some chilli sauce I bought at the food festival last week, bulked out with loads of veg so I've got 4 to 5 portions from a 400g pack of mince. :money:
5) I'll watch the first part of a BBC series my DM recommended to me this evening.
As an aside, can anyone advise me on, or point me towards advice on, writing a reference? A friend has been asked to do one and I've offered to help as he's not very good with words, but I've never had to do one before and I want to get it right for him!Back after a very long break!0 -
McCulloch are you Angrovestud on H&H by anychance? Theres a lovely photo of baby Fatrascal, born on my birthday!

2. Actually petted a snake and got some great photo shots.
3. We got drenched, it reached a point where we are so wet it doesn't matter.

5. Just used an RTC quiche, made some mash chucked pickle with it and called it tea.
6. Hot hot hot drinks.
7. Thinking of working from home tomorrow.0 -
So very tired and miserable today. :-(
Anyway, see what pleasures I can find.
1) Stayed at OH's last night with my sons. They got on well with OH's older son. Pity OH and I barely exchanged 20 words. I don't understand it. :-(
2) Went to the farmers market and met mum, dad and my sister there.
3) Sunny at times!!!
4) Enjoyed watching the Wimbledon final
5) House in some sort of order.
6) Cheating tea of scampi, chips and baked beans.
7) Going to have a bath now then sit in bed and watch Casualty on iplayer.
Got a horrid meeting about smaller son at school tomorrow. If the woman is as nasty as she was in the first meeting, I am going to request not to have her again. (Not a member of staff from school, she comes from the county council).0 -
A quick Good morning ,it's Monday already from me!
No real pleasures from yesterday.....lay on sofa all day with a box of tissues!
I am going into work.....the people who gave me this cold all had time off last week so I reckon I won't be re-infecting them with anything too bad. At least I had the weekend to do nothing much!
Poor Andy Murray but at least he got to the finals and losing to a champ like Federer is no shame.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend0 -
Hugs Frith, maybe OH is feeling a bit male-version-of-PMTish
He'll be fine tomorrow....or I'll come and biff him up! x
1. NSD
2. Managed to persuade DD that coming to church rather than watching Tangled for the gazillionth time would be more fun this morning - and it was!!
3. We went for a lovely little walk this afternoon, okay, we got caught in the rain, but it was great to be outside, nattering and playing at being the Famous Five
4. Cleaned the bathroom....baby steps, the rest of the house is still a pigsty......
5. DD and I had a good singsong after dinner0 -

It's alright - they won't be reading! Is reference writing googlable? Is googlable a word?

I don't mind snakes. Except the day that DD nearly trod on one while out walking in the Appalachian mountains. She thought it was a stick - till it got the hell out of the way! We don't think it was deadly. :eek:1. NSD

I always think the things you and DD get up to sound so lovely - like Swallows and Amazons and the Von Trapps rolled into one.
So mine for today
1. Downstairs was clean and tidy for the visitors. Upstairs looks like a bomb site but that is for this week
2. Nice to see friends - we love them to bits and don't see them often enough
3. Nice walk in the park and a cuppa
4 RTC beef from M&S, bought on Christmas eve, was delish - but we won;t talk of the yorkshires ever again. :rotfl:
5. Did nothing this evening - makes a change.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I'm not Angrove Stud, sadly, by 'my' horse Angrove Rumbaba I mean that I am one of the Paintbox Syndicate that leases him from the stud. There are two Angrove Studs, one at Great Ayton and the sister stud near Malton.
Fatrascal is GORGEOUS isn't he? I will have to start saving for my shares in him as he will be a Flat horse. Angrove Rumbaba is National Hunt.
If you are a FB user you can join Rummy's page as a friend, - under Angrove Rumbaba. He posts as himself!
Sparrer, thank you also for your interest, Heather - who DOES own Rummy will be thrilled. It was the fact that it was something so different that persuaded me to join the syndicate.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
