A very kind customer has given me a loan of 2 books, first 2 in the shades of grey trilogy (she's still reading the 3rd) I commented on them the other day & she brought them in for me yesterday.......who's read them?
Books are so expensive here, I would rarely pay full price for one , so was a lovely gesture from her!
I looked at them on Amazon the other day and I'm fairly sure it's got another 200 reviews in a few days.:)

I'm going to have to check it out via Amazon, as somehow I can't imagine the libraries round here would have one in, bet if they did they would have a 2 year waiting list:rotfl:
  • Its Saturday. Yippee.

Vjsmums. Yes, a move in the right direction does wonders. Had a foster kid who was found in a cupboard. He had missed about six months school, on and off. Came with us, and we moved, but he came along. We changed school, over summer, and he got chosen his class. I egged him to go into one a year below to catch up, as SW were Shot, he duly attended wrong class! It took school and others months to find out, and they ad to leave in the year below. Had we taken SW advise, and instruction, poor lad would had suffered and be so far behind, he would have ... Instead he flourished, gained in confidence. Me, again I got rollocked by the SWs. Just hate these knowalls. They interfer too much for their own score cards, and wash their hand when they are 18, even though the extra year there does more good.

Rite, that is the world to rites then.

Last night, Mes and Ms Sonny were snuckled up. Babychams were flowing and wobbleade everywhere. Well two or three.

Just lazing today, after perfect poached eggs and bangers beans etc.

    Have a good day.

I'm off to do this boot fair stall - yikes, but at least it's in the afternoon, so no getting up early ;-)

Have a lovely saturday all whatever you're doing.
  • Hello all!
Newbie here - been reading the thread for a while and thought I ought to join in - can't be a bad thing to focus on the positives of life! :)

So, here are my five for yesterday:
    1. Was feeling rather grumpy in the morning, so supplemented my breakfast with a sneaky apple turnover.
    2. Email from my sister, who has just finished her GCSEs and now has no more lessons until September.
    3. Tasty lunch of Frikadellen (sort of big meatballs/mini burgers) and potato salad, not cooked by me!
    4. Finished my library book: Every Man for Himself by Beryl Bainbridge. Written from the point of view of a passenger on the Titanic, so seemed appropriate to be reading it this year. Thought it was very good, so will try to read some more by her.
    5. Watched live stream from Glyndebourne for free on Grauniad website. Think six productions are being made available this year, which is excellent. Went once for a friend's birthday and really enjoyed it but can't see myself being able to afford tickets for the next thirty years or so, so glad such good quality versions are available on line. :)

Hope everyone's having a good weekend and no one's been too badly affected by the flooding I've been reading about.

Sparrer - if it's any consolation my two dogs don't appreciate the sweet smelling new bedding they have put on every week. I now take it as not being personal from them :D

    1. Had some big fussies with my two boys (horses) this morning, took them some chopped up apple and ginger biscuits - their fave.

    2. Really scrubbed out their water trough it had gone a bit green so cleaned that out and put fresh water in for them clean water is a right for all of us.

    3. Had a nice long chat with a fellow horsey friend over a cup of coffee and she kindly brought me half a dozen of her free range eggs from her hens who laid them this morning :D

    4. Sat and had a couple of nice cups of tea out of my new teapot that I bought yesterday. Just started collecting Emma Bridgewater's Black Toast. I even pushed the boat out and used the matching milk jug. Yes it costs me yesterday but now I am going to get my moneys wirth out of them :)

    5. Did a homemade lasagne tonight and put loads of mozzarella on the top. Came out fab so very pleased.
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

Skint.. to right we re distributed our [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE], pre loved stuff but only about 50% so will have to do another one next month.

Hope no one is affected by all of the flooding going in around at the moment.

1.Welllll, the car boot went ok the weather held out, as it’s also one we would normally go to anyway so it was nice to run the stall. I went round while DH ran the stall and then vise versa, we both bought a couple of bits, aussie shampoo and conditioner for me £2, Garage Centre roll big things for DH. It’s not a get rich quick and we have unfortunately still got enough to have to do another one in future, but we made £89.

2.A lovely chat with a chap as old as the hills buying things from us at the bootfair, he worked in theatre in his day and still keeps his hand in with local am dram, and just had wonderful stories to tell to those that will listen.:)

3.DH and I have talked over and made a hard decision, we do something as a hobby/fundraising for charity which has become less fun and more time and penny consuming, while we can’t back off immediately, we will start to make it clear we will not be running it next year. It feels like the right but hard decision to make, as we are conscious I’m not quite in the best of health.

    4. Not MSE at all but a pleasure for us, we are ordering in a takeaway tonight, a bit of domestic luxury, could do with a wobbleabe but none in.:D

    5. 3 loads of washing done, still trying to dry 2 of them thou.

    Evening all :)

Hope the weather held off for car-booters, footie/cricket fans and concert-goers. So sad to see the floods affecting so many people, my heart goes out to them, I just couldn't imagine what they must be going through :(. I'm very fortunate, we're built on a flood plain but haven't been flooded since long before I moved here.

    1. Took Kefi back for the tracking to be done, can't believe how little the garage charged me. I thanked the manager, he said he keeps prices down by not advertising. All his customers go to him on recommendation, I'm very grateful someone recommended them to me :)

    2. Had a quick sort through the bedroom and have got another bag to to go the cs. Not losing weight atm, but I feel good for going to the gym regularly

    3. Very tight in the wallet this month and will next as well as I have two breaks planned, so having to really watch the pennies. Went through the cupboards and freezer, I can probably last 4 weeks or more :). Just need milk, fruit and veg, and need to stop being attracted by pretty packets on the shelves!

    4. Got my invitation to my DSister's wedding in August, am so excited for her :j. Fortunately it won't be a huge expense as I already have the outfit I'm going to wear, and they don't want presents as they've been together for 12 years, instead are asking for donations to charities relevant to the family. Is it just me or does anyone else think there's something very special about seeing a family wedding invitation on the sideboard?

    5. Just had a long, warm shower and am sitting here very comfortably, all lotioned and potioned, in cleam jimmies watching the footie. Oh, and I have a mug of hot choc (low cal of course ;)) to enjoy while I'm watching

    Night night, sweet dreams :)

5 for me for today (Saturday)

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Bigger son made fried eggs and beans on toast for breakfast!

    3) Went to a local football open day (children's football club). Had a burger from there and a chat with another mum from school.

    4) Cleaned bathroom, changed bed, dusted lounge etc.

    5) Tasty pasta tea.

    6) Texts from OH. :-) He will be here tomorrow, has been a very long week without him.

    7) Another email from my local district councillor. Had a letter today from the County Council saying my son's appeal for a bus pass to school has failed. District councillor is getting on to it (again). It really is very silly.

Today has been a bit tough because bigger son has been VERY difficult. Quite hard to cope with because it's pretty much always younger son. Two hours of name calling (to me) and stomping about at the football open day. Refusing to cooperate. So he went to bed at 7pm and is not allowed on the laptop (for pushing me over in a strop). He is getting worried about going to France with his class on Monday. I think it is an ambitious trip to take primary school pupils but am sure he'll be fine when he gets there.
  • Frith (((hugs))) sorry to hear your struggles with bigger son today. I'm sure if school had any doubts on his behaviour they would not have agreed to take him. It sounds like he is getting anxious, and my son used to have very similar reactions to any change of routine.
