    Mine for yesterday

    1. No work

    2. Watching a kestrel (I think)

    3. The house is tidy.

    4. Reverbed 2p

    5. Swimming outside - the sky was really black but no rain.

    6. Tea was roast chicken with salad - used up all salady bits that needed eating.

    7. Had a chat with someone I hadn't seen in years.

    8. England winning

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Love that one of Frith's pleasures is nearly missing the rain :rotfl:

TILAMS - how can one person write such nonsense and such sense all at once? Please continue :)

    For yesterday

    1. I don't need varifocals :T - I guess the missing key word is "yet". Eye test was OK and got 2 for 1 at specsavers, including sunglasses
    2. DD and I had some small inspiration for father's day which was a book of walks. Good news is there's loads of them, so that is the next few christmasses and birthdays taken care of.
    3. Nice lunch with friends, various DDs not at school and MIL
    4. Watching the England "alternative commentary" with Chris Moyles very :rotfl:
    5. Had my hair done - not very MSE I'm afraid but made me feel good

OH has taken MIL away for the weekend. Yay - weekend off for us. I might get up soon .. :o

ETA = Lemon and elderflower cake for anyone who's interested, I will have got it from somewhere on this board

    Lemon and Elderflower cake.
    • 225g/8oz butter, softened
    • 225g/8oz caster sugar
    • 4 large eggs
    • 225g/8oz self raising flour, sifted
    • zest and juice 1 lemon
    • 100ml/4floz elderflower cordial
    • 30ml/ 2 tbsp granulated sugar
    Method
    1. Preheat the oven to 180C/ Fan160C/Gas Mark 4. Grease a (20cm) round, deep loose-based tin and base line with baking parchment.
    2. Place the butter sugar and lemon zest in a large bowl. Use an electric whisk to beat the butter and sugar together untl they are pale and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, whisking well between additions and adding 2 tbsp of the flour with the last egg - this will prevent curdling.
    3. Sift over the remaining flour, then gently fold in with a metal spoon along with 2 tbsp hot water. Spoon into the prepared tin, level the surface and bake for 45-50mins or until it is shrinking away from the sides of the tin. A fine skewer inserted in the centre should come out clean. Cool in the tin for 5 mins.
    4. Squeeze the lemon juice, then sieve to remove the bits, stir in the cordial. Use the fine skewer to pr!ck the cake all over, pour over the syrup then sprinkle over the sugar - it should sink in but leave a crunchy crust. Leave to cool completely, before removing the cake from the tin. Serve in wedges.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Good afternoon all

PK - sorry to hear that you are being mucked about a bit re the strat date for your new job x

mcculloch - what a lovely post ! the party sounded wonderful , what thoughtful gifts too !

Sparrer - my garden is slug citytoo , ditto the beans . They are too juicy and slimy for the hens , sadly.

VJsmum - it sounds as if they are "cobbling" things together for your Dad.I can't understand why your Dad and his relatives /representatives are not involved in the discharge planning meetings - he has been in hospital for around 6 months ! The CQC would not be impressed . God forbid if he had fallen when he went home last week !-....duty of care ..neglect ..Its not on. Its kind of what I do for my day job, although not in hospital settings .Sorry to go on about it but it presses my buttons x

5 for yesterday as I could not log on !

    1. OH told me on Thursday night that he too had the day off yesterday . I was a bit miffed tbh as Friday is "my day ", but I have next week off all to myself .

2 . Went into town on a mission to get some of those genie bras - saw them but they come in a box of three , black , white and a yukky brown for £39 . I just want black and white not the vile brown. Why don't they do boxes of 3 x white , black etc ???So asked the assistant if they did their "own" make found something similar in a returns box for £3 for one white one :D It fits ok actually as I am not well endowed .

3.Had a take away for lunch and dinner . Naught but nice .

    4. Banked some more change for my brothers birthday next year £210 so far of 50ps since Jan. 2010.

    5. A boy who I grew up who I haven't seen for years rolled his car window down and had a chat whilst I was waiting to cross the road .Cheeky beggar looked straight away to see if I had a wedding/engagement ring on !

Have a good day all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    (Early) evening all.

I had intended to spend today in the garden but it's been too windy - not good gardening weather if you wear contact lenses! So instead it's been a computer day:

    1) Claimed another £20 of Amaz0n vouchers for doing surveys, which I intend to spend on a rather cute mini terracotta planter for the alpine strawberries I've grown from a RTC packet of seeds. I'm not actually overly fond of strawberries but I couldn't resist them at 10p a pack - they'll be good for strawberry jam (which I do like) if nothing else.

    2) Ordered a rather smart dogwood to replace the sickly shrub my DF kindly dug out for me a couple of weeks ago - it's got red stems and yellow leaves, and was also paid for with a survey voucher. :money:

    3) Made a loaf of milk bread to use up the last of a bottle that was on the turn and would otherwise have been poured down the sink. (I'm fussy about my milk - if it's not totally fresh I won't use it. :o)

    4) Vacuumed the flat - a job I hate as it always gives me backache, but the flat looks so much nicer when it's done.

    5) Coq au vin for dinner, using a mini bottle of wine won in a pub quiz.

VJsmum - thanks for the cake recipe - I made a batch of elderflower cordial last summer which didn't turn out very well, so it's been in the freezer ever since while I tried to think what to do with it. I think I know now. :T
Back after a very long break!

    4. Both log burners lit to drive away the miserable weather

Chickenopolis:- Sounds like you had a lovely yesterday even in company.:)
CCP:- It is blowing an absolute hooligan here, the trees are mesmerising.
TILAMS, To right humbug, that’s part of the reason we are going!:D

1.To stop cabin fever, we popped out and found an afternoon boot fair, it was nice to look around but didn’t buy anything other than a big bowl of fruit for £1
2.Came home and made bacon rolls with salad (all rtc’s from the freezer) and a big cuppa.
3.Actually kicked my bum into gear to write to the financial Ombudsman after being treated abysmally by a building soc, and posted it off.
    4. Cottage pie from scratch is cooking through in the oven for dinner, with hm scones and proper strawberries for dessert.
Struggling for a 5th not for any bad reason just can’t think of one at mo.

I have my eye on something on ebay that I dearly want to bid on if it stays not bid on, but err I think it may be too big, DH says where am I going to put it. I say it’s 99p and we have been looking for one for 2 years, it’s just this one is a bit higher than we were planning. Will common sense win out.... hmmmm:rotfl:
  • Evenings all. Must try vjsmums cake, though I think cocoa and orange could be added.

Ms Sonny is back refreshed from her invigoration day. She is well keen, to look after sonny. But she as bought back what I can only describe as this year's most useless product. An old newspaper bag. Wonderful. The effort is folding it, and glueing it together, adding strings (attached), far belies the effort I would gave down by torching it on the fire.

Still some nice cheese in fridge for her and a couple of proper wobbleade bottles as well.

Safe night all, wobbleades are being sought
I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!
