    5. started reading a Monica
Edwards book again [very good] [I'm enjoying second childhood again i think].

Which one OT? I'm a fan of the 'Punchbowl' series, but I've only ever read the 1960s Armada paperback abridged versions, sometimes one of the books will refer to something that was in one of the other books but not in the abridged version - so confusing! I also have one of Monica's autobiographical books. I think this year would have been her centenary.

I have some money to spend from Amazon so had a quick look there as I was typing. I have now got 'The Punchbowl Farm Companion' coming and also my favourite Punchbowl book, Spirit of Punchbowl Farm, is being re-published at the end of the month, so that's on pre-order.

    1. A lovely surprise party for a friend's 60th. She doesn't look it.. I knew she was late-ish 50s but had no idea she was 60 this year. Her mother is still very active and my pal will probably follow her example. My friend's face as she walked into her party-decorated dining room from work was a picture, true shock (good job she has a strong heart!) then surprise and real pleasure. It was a super evening.
I'd taken the trike round and her Mum was so interested in it. I love that.
    2. Friend's pleasure in her gifts- a scarf, umbrella and jelly beans from me, plus an arty card as she is a professional artist. I had planned to wear the jewellery my daughter had given me recently, but with a plunging neckline on my new top decided to wear a scarf.
Just as well, my friend was given the same jewellery set by another pal... whew!
    3. Getting a sleeved buttonless cardi-style top to match the very distinctively patterned vest top I bought earlier this year. I used a 50% off voucher and as the cardigan was already heavily discounted it was such a bargain.
    4. Not having the windows fitted today (in truly torrential rain) as the handles were missed off the order. It's being done Wednesday.
    5. Lots of lovely books to read when I have the time. Several were £1, some were free from Amazon Vine.
    6. See comments above on the 'Punchbowl' books.
    7. Putting out a full recycling bin once more, yet more paper or plastic based clutter gone. Can I do it for a fifth fortnight?
    8. Doctor's appointment yesterday, he listened, prescribed some different tablets that he feels will be more effective and instead of dismissing my comments on some proven treatment that I know will help me, (as happened last year with another doctor) has offered to investigate further if new drugs don't do the trick.
    9. Reading all your pleasures, thank you.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Evening all.

    Mine for yesterday:

    1) I think there are swifts - my favourite birds - nesting in the roof of my building. :j
    2) Delicious lunch of minestrone soup (sadly not HM) with a chunk of HM granary bread and some marinated olives.
    3) Reverbe'd 2p.
    4) We came 2nd in the pub quiz, having won last week. :D
    5) Walking home on a blustery evening - the wind always seems to have a special noise when you're at the coast which is wonderfully atmospheric.

    And for today:

    1) Walking back from another building with a colleague and we got to watch a blue tit fledgling on its first ever flight from the nest. It was so tiny and fluffy and cute.
    2) Wilkins0ns are having their usual summer sale of veg and flower seeds - I got several packets at 75% off, and might go back for some more next week. :money:
    3) Bought a Waitr0se £10 meal deal, which is more interesting and generous than the M&$ equivalent. :money:
    4) One of my HG tomato plants has flower buds on it.
    5) Burger, chips and wobbleade for dinner - all RTC or SO - while watching football. (I know I'm in the minority in enjoying it, so I won't go on too much. ;))

Have a good evening, all, and special hugs to Skint, KB, mhags, and anyone else in need of a hug.
Back after a very long break!

Great to see you back Kitikins, sounds like a fantastic time.

Wow I have just booked our Christmas break (sorry to say the C word in June!), we are staying at a small campsite on the welsh coast, with electric of course, it’s 300m walking distance from the beach, with views over it. The very relaxed campsite owner was able to recommend what looks like an amazing place for Christmas day dinner, it’s all booked in I’m seriously excited already.

It’s one of those days where everything I do is going wrong, best just curl up with a book and not attempt to use the oven.

1.Ran a load of errands, picked up fresh fruit and veg for £4, trawled around some butchers looking for decent cheap bacon pieces unsuccessfully, so ended up in Mr T.
    2. OH very happy in CS having discovered a much needed piece of scalextric :rotfl:
    3. Made Banana cupcakes, they failed miserably they are like mini rock cakes, so I covered them with icing to disguise them – it’s pitiful:o
4.Cheats tea of HM Pizza and chips later

5.Just smiling – hopefully not a strange scarey smile thou more than likely at the moment!:rotfl:

    1. Just finished cutting DH hair - he has a No1 all over so it's fairly easy with the clippers and it has saved us a bomb over the last three or so years we have been doing this on hairdressers fees.

    2. Got some washing dried on the line today the rest is on the clothes horse in the conservatory.

    3. Found some nice salmon fillets in the freezer this morning was going to buy some at the supermarket today so I was pleased not to be able to have to spend out.

    4. Cleaned the windows around the back of the house - they were filthy but the front windows I have left because they are getting rained on at the moment I shall probably do those Sunday morning if it is nice.

    5. Having a nice glass of Lindisfarne Mead which I bought the other day when I was in my beloved Northumberland.
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

    5 for today so far.

    1) Sons to school without much fuss.

    2) Smaller son had a reasoable morning. He has made friends with the cleaning lady so had spent some of the morning helping her. Finally, staff have stopped chasing after him when he gets stressed and walks out of the classroom. It had turned into a bit of a race!

    3) Used some of last night's sweet potato and made it into an omelette. Have been hungry all day.

    4) Nearly avoided all the rain.

    5) Homemade curry for tea (from the freezer) followed by strawberries.

    6) Emails from OH. :-)

    7) Bidding for some t shirts for bigger son as he is going on a school trip to France on the 25th and he needs something half decent to wear.

    8) Hoping for an early night (I never manage it!) so going to bed soon with smaller son to watch the football and will hope he nods off.

Broadband has been down since 6am til an hour or so ago, I'm going to demand compensation cos I had to watch football instead of tapping away to a friend overseas

Welcome back Kittikins, sounds like you had a super holiday :). Pleased for you that the bathroom was done for your return

    4. Friend phoned (she had the same BB problems) and we've decided to go to a convention on the south coast in Sept. All these holidays, I'll have to send myself up chimneys to make some pennies to pay for them :D
    5. I know when to admit I'm wrong. I used to be very pro-euro. Say no more :o

    Sweet dreams :)

Too much wobbleade I am a fraud (edit, it should have been I am afraid!!!, predictive test!!) Bring it on. Bounce bounce bounce. The ghosts of Leon hang low.

5 I am on the oi pod, so things are altered to persecute the innocents. Just had enuff of Scottish Power. Ms Sonny updated meter reads on 31 May. Did their software engineers handle this. No. So yesterday I ring them up and they reset the account. Bingo, new bill on line and the last two cancelled, now have a bill for £700 +. Oh dear, feel some strong words coming out later, but they are repeatable here.

4 Give me a four letter words right now.

3 Too much wobbleade last night, but was it not good. Just thought disaster was about to happen an on comes Walcott. Get it, words were slightly differing from this, but cat was woken and ms Sonny was well placed for a squeeeeeeeeeeezeeee.

2 Ms Sonny made beans on toast this morning. We would have had sausages as well, but there was none in the tin. She will gets the hang of this cooking one day. Must not gripe though, she can shoulder surf and look in here as well. Just wish I knew how to block her, cos she will only see things that are so rude.

1 As long as we endure this agony, see endless nights, suffer the cold of winter, there can be no harvest. But when the sun comes back northward, and the land warms, we shall sow the seed. Come summer, we may see the fruits of our endeavours. Until then, the dream is still alive.

Note the above is based on fact. These events did occur. Names have not been changed, you are all guilty. Do not base any indication from the above advice, for future planning, as events could happen that can reduce this bouyancy to a splat in an instant.
