Well done, PK!
5 or so for today (Friday).
1) This afternoon it stopped raining!
2) Bit of a lie in.
3) Texts from OH. :-)
4) Went to see my brother and he fixed my windscreen wipers for me. They stopped working just as I set off home from holiday and I presumed the motor had burned out. £232 from Renault or £35 from a scrap yard. Had mum and dad all arranged to go to the scrapyard (since it hasn't stopped raining long enough for me to drive anywhere!!) but brother found a little "arm" had come off a spindle and has fixed it.
5) Window man phoned the the surveyor is coming Monday morning to measure up. Won't be long now!
6) Went into town to get the boys some wellies. Also got other stuff we've been meaning to get for ages - sandals for them to wear knocking about outside, a new sidelight bulb for the car - all in different shops all over town. Also popped into B and Q for......
7).....their kitchen price guide and general picture book about their various styles. My kitchen is a piece of work surface the ex husband rested on an old cupboard in 1999. And 2 very ropey wall units. Anyway, I have been looking on Ebay for second hand complete kitchens and I have found one that is basically the perfect size! (I've done a lot of contorting with a tape measure the last few days).
The Ebay kitchen is B and Q and must have cost over £1000 but stands at £26 at the moment... It comes complete with work surface and also sink and drainer. The reason I started looking on Ebay is because I have cracked my sink and it leaks. It hardly costs more to get a whole kitchen than it does to get a sink!
8) Boys happy and playing on Mario Kart as I type.
9) Off for a bath now then have an evening of doing nothing. :-)0 -
Ooh Frith, Snap. I had a man come to measure me up today - apparently I am bigger than I thought I was. Hopefully the new conservatory roof will be fitted soon
So for today
1. made carrot soup for lunch - yum
2. sent in my marking marks
3. started the great tidy up - with Harry. Will need to get a new Harry soon, have nearly finished this one
4. Watched the first ever episode of Sherlock with DD who has become hooked. It was good
5. DS won the world cup at soccer school - he has a medal to prove it.
I, too, have a weekend of tidying and cleaning - would like to get some gardening done.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening all
Frith everything x'ed for the Eb@y kitchen
Chicken congrats on the 2 months free insurance for your OGV
TILAMS well done on slaying the toilet shark, you'll be a hero for life to your little niece
1. Cold, wet and very, very windy outside but I didn't have to go out anywhere and I put the heating on. Naughty sparrer, but I was warm and cosy in my nest.
2. Postie brought me a pair of brand new Lotus boots I 'won' on eb@y for 99p. They were wrapped up to look like a big foot, she said the sorting office had a good laugh over the package and wondered what body parts I'll have delivered next. I assured her it wouldn't be a football
3. DNeighbour offered me a bag of goodies for DD's car boot sale which was very thoughtful but unfortunately it was last Sat. It will do for the next one though, which is booked for a few months time
4. Made a splendiferous melanzane parmigiana for dinner, cheap, quick, easy and very filling. Next time I'll make a small extra one and see if it freezes.
5. A phone call from a friend I haven't heard from for months, had a long chat and made arrangements to meet up, then found out she's going to the same art exhibition as me tomorrow
Sleep tight, hope the gales don't keep you awake0 -
Mrs Sonny is a total failure. Sent out four wobbleade, she has come back with foam beer.
Oh dear. I have tried to train her over the beers, but she succumbed to half pint glasses of boobingtons, with gas inserts. Fiz, spoil over wallop. New I should has gone our.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

5) watched very interesting programme on spitalfields. Realise how much i miss tv. Must sort that out!
went to bed knowing i could have long lie in :T but...

TILAMS, I've only learned about real ale in the last ten years or so, prior to that you could write what I knew on a postage stamp.
Frith hope you get that kitchen!
Mhagster, great to hear your news.
Sparrer I had never heard of melanzane parmigiana but having Googled it looks lovely. I could grill the aubergines in my George Foreman I reckon.
PK, good on you for getting a positive out of commuting!
Everyone else, thank you, I've been looking forward to reading this all day.
Mine:
1) DS coughed up cash without being reminded. He had heard me, but had planned on waiting until it stopped raining to go for the money. It didn't stop.
2) Cable I had ordered to go between the router (in DS's room) and the phone socket (in mine) arrived and was fitted. I needed one as I was planning on plugging in a corded phone to the socket and the ADSL splitter I bought (to enable phone and net use at the same time without interference) had the wrong socket type for the existing router cable.
On removing the old non-splitter type plug from the wall I noticed it had a cable attached and was dreading the thought that the new ADSL splitter might not work because the cable was connected to something vital... but it wasn't. I think it was part of the original net set up that my bro installed 12 years ago.
I fitted the new cable (by myself!!) with no problems and crucially, I now have a corded phone that can be used in a power cut. I felt slightly insecure without one.
3. I managed to get an old burned out bulb from the kitchen lights out. The lights were a passed on freebie and I wasn't sure how the bulbs went in, as I've not used that type before. After a bit of twisting, pulling and hoping it came out.
4. Holiday confirmation came.
5. Had a quick riffle through the summer clothing still stored in boxes in a corner of the bedroom, I discovered a pair of trousers with a very nice belt that I'd completely forgotten I'd bought.
This type of 'forgot I had it' discovery happens every year. Is it just me?
I also found a long skirt that I thought I'd sent to the charity shop by mistake.
Woo -hoo!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

2. Managing both walks with my dog in the dry.
3. Went swimming outside and then given a free coffee.
4. Had bobotie from freezer for tea with roasted veg.

Ms Ex Sonny has come in from the shed after buying Foam Beer and is so remorsel. I think she has learnt a harsh lesson, and is after forgiveness. Chocolate will help I thinks.
Good Brekkies with pork sausages, from local butcher, not the supremarche carp, poached eggs, perfect with fry toast and Tom toms.
Weather here is sunny!!!
Off to town to get Ms Sonny some chocolates.
Note, Sonny was not harmed by drinking foam beer, but gave him ideas above his station. Ms Sonny was ..., but is recovering well.
Better to be righteous, then turn your back on all dirtiness. A wolf returns to feed on the sick, a boar waddles in its muck. Truth in the end endures through the false bottoms.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

TILAMS - strangely the worst thing about our usually-most-excellent-butcher is his sausages (oo err). Really not good - I prefer the 90 % meat supermarket ones (Black farmer or Debbie and Andrew's are recommended)I wanna be in the room where it happens0
