Sorry to hear about your dad, VJsmum.
5 or so from here for today (Thursday)
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Boys sensible all morning.
3) Kitten watching!
4) Tasty pitta breads for lunch.
5) Brother here for tea and Wii playing.
6) Did a roast dinner for tea then banoffee pie. Smaller son said "Uncle G - I fizzed the cream for the pie - with an electric fizz" :-)
Weather awful all day, hope its better tomorrow.0 -
Good evening all!
PK - bliddy fantastic news - you clever , clever little kitten ! Well done :T:rotfl:You should go away more often ,as our Sparrer would say this seems to have got your Dander up !!
VJsmum - I am really sorry to hear the news about your Dad. Shameful that a discharge planning MDT meeting was not organised and a support plan/care package put in place . Particularly as your Dad is of a high risk of falls and has been in hospital since January .I wish him well and ((hugs)) to you x x red pen in hand or not !
5 for today
1. Been bang awake and up at 4.30am for the last few days and haven't crashed and burnt yet .Only a matter of time I fear .
2. Work = meeting after meeting after meeting .. bit of a theme here . Bliddy cold in the meeting room too.
3. Macaroni cheese for tea - OH said it didn't taste very cheesy ( I put loads of extra mature cheddar in it ), so the hens had his ! They thought it was fine.
4.Freebie toothpaste in the post .
5. Day off tomorrow .
Good night all!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
PK excellent news, am thrilled for you :T A bit like London buses, you wait and wait then two come along at once
VJsmum I'm angry ! I'm so fed up with hearing that an older person/long term patient is sent home without a package of care in place. I'm amazed, though maybe I shouldn't be, that after so many reports of poor aftercare it's still happening. Understandably your brother might not know how these things (should) work, not every lay person does, but the hospital social worker team shouldn't wait for families to push for it. Hope it all works out for your Dad. Off my soapbox
Mhags/Ladyhawk hope all is well
1. Woke up to glorious sunshine! It didn't last of course, but was good to see when I opened the curtains. It appeared occasionally through the day just to remind me what it looks like
2. Went to the gym, had a good workout and felt keen to step up the exercises but sensibly the instructor suggested I wait as I've only been going a couple of weeks. I want to run before I can walk
3. Saw DD afterwards to drop DGS's birthdays card off and give her a lift to work. It saved her a walk, she does so much for the pub as sec for their football team, organised their Jubilee celebrations etc etc., and now standing in for someone on holiday this week as well as her own shifts. But she's not one to give in (a bit like her mother really) and will be able to rest over the weekend
4. Spend this evening looking up accom in Devon for early July, I've found a caravan which takes dogs so I'll phone the ex in the morning and if he's not busy I'll go and visit him for a few days. We're fortunate that we have a reasonable relationship, so I can tolerate his company for a day or two
5. A little one but nonetheless very important , a NSD
Sweet dreams0 -
TILAMS apologises for his absence, we is getting new phones, mobiles and inter spider today, so normal ramblings shall be intermittent during the curse of this day.
5 Keep silence amongst you, while I speak. The what comes to me I will say.
4 Bin a bit of trouble at one of mills I do work for. Seems the new broom, who rescued the place from oblivion, has decided he is the piper and calls the tune. Change happens, some like it and some lump it. You have to sometimes embrace it, because without change, progress cannot be made. Now, if I wanted to rant on, just write your thoughts, then save them as draft. Then wait twenty fours hours, re-read and post. Good thing this tweetersphere, because your message is instant. Yes I know Graham, that your dad did a good job in the mill, and you should respect that. That tweet I am sorry was virile and now I now you have remorse, but I am afraid, you have lost any contract that you could extend. So next time you want to tweet, just remember it may be your instant reaction, but it gets round. It did and now explain that to your dad why your contract will not be extended.
3 Seems I missed the lass from Dundee finding some Choccies. It is alright DundeeDoll, you are a girl at heart and you cannot resist anything like that, especially as it melts at body temperature
2 Right, now I has my new router, my new mobiles and phones. Numbers gap have be transported to new supplier, and ex directory to stop any adoring fan from ringing in. I just hope it goes together like butter on toast.
1 Number 1. Nieces were up on jubilee and they love their Uncle TILAMS. I have been personally invited to a birthday party, for her 4th. Cannot wait. Had a little problem with the Toilet Shark, the one that opens up and swallows small people, well kids fall down them once do they not? Said the one downstairs is where the shark lived, but upstairs, he has a lid to stop him coming out. Darn and blast, she got wrong end of wick, and decided shark lived upstairs, so used he one without kiddie proof seat. Bloooooming disaster. Not really, cos shark did get out and wake her younger sister up, his aw was huge and he went snap snap snap. Fortunately I managed to wrestle said shark, and turn him into a wide mouthed pencil sharpener, and she has gone off with that.
Phew.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

Purple Kitten - Well done you on the job offers :j
VJsmum - Sorry to hear about your dad and hugs to you
Pleasures for the last couple of days;
1. Lovely jubilee street party, even if it did rain. Got to know some of the neighbours and the got on really well with them.
2. Lots of compliments from the neighbours about how lovely DD is. She doesn't go to the local school so they don't really see much of her. She was great with the kids though and could tell she was a guide leader with all the games she had them doing. Think she may get some babysitting work out of it.
3. Our street looked fab over the weekend with all the flags and bunting out.
4. Received some luncheon vouchers in the post which was good as decided to spend some of the ones I had already in Waitrose for some food shopping
5. Also used some vouchers in M&S to buy some new jogging bottoms and a couple of other bits (cover your ears TILAMS) of underwear
6. DD has finished decorating my bra for the Edinburgh Moonwalk on Saturday. It is lovely, she has covered it in sparkly butterflies.
7. Tasty dinner of sausage and pasta soup, warming as well. It was freezing here yesterday.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
So, third attempt at posting lucky I hope! Our internet connection has been pants all week , I write out a post and then by the time I press reply there is no internet and I've lost post ....grrrrr!
So for the week!
1. Hurrah for Friday! had a busy working week, dealt with a few quite horrid customers, so rude! Taken on more responsibity as manager is off, making an attempt at going in later (but still in plenty time, was always in far too early) and leaving on time ish!
2. A nice customer ( I have lots of nice friendly ones so I notice when some are outright rude!) who is from England brought me in a gift yesterday....a can of Irn Bru (which I shared with my colleagues!) and a BIG bag of Minstrels , which you can't buy in main shops.....I did not share these with my colleagues! But did allow my husband and DD1 a few each! How kind & unexpected
3.Have seen lots of parrots this week. There were 25 near my car in carpark the other day. They always make me smile.
4.Acquired a beautiful umbrella today (and needed it as it was raining!) someone had left a fabulous brolly at work and hadn't reclaimed it!
5.OH has started his radiotherapy, 2 down 31 to go. He is doing okay, all things considering. A few side effects to surgery but if I think what the alternative was , he /we can cope with them. He has managed to put a couple of kg's on which is good. As radiotherapy goes on , he will have side efects from that which can result in more weight loss, so the more he can maintain/gain now the better in the longrun. I think he is so brave going through everything he has.....and we still manage to laugh/smile.
6.Getting a letter to say my claim for government funded car accident insurance (after car crash) was succesful......they will pay the $960 ambulance bill!
7.Going to the library and grabbing some foody books...always looking for inspiration and Hairy Bikers DVD's which I'm half watching as I type.
It's been a lot cooler this past week, about 14o daytime....which to us is rather chilly! Was 3o first thing one morning. We need heating on.
Been making soup for OH like a mad thing! He liked bacon & zucchini (as they call courgettes over here!) and roasted pepper & apple soup.
Okay fingers crossed this works, I loved hearing all about your jubilee celebrations , not much happened over here0 -
Evening all.
I hope everyone's OK and hasn't blown away yet.
My day was going well until this evening, when I misjudged the width of a space in the supermarket car park and scraped my passenger door across a concrete pillar.Oh well, it's annoying rather than disastrous, I suppose.
1) Walked down to the seafront in my lunch break and admired the white waves coming over the sea wall.
2) HM veg chilli for lunch, which was nicely warming on a chilly day - it's amazing how the chilli heat develops over time.
3) Another quiet day at work so I sneakily did some revision in the afternoon.
4) Managed to book an appointment for a local pet sitter to look after mog while I'm in my exam on Monday. Usually I ask a friend to do it but she's got enough problems at the moment without me asking her to trek across town in the rain just to get miaowed at.
5) Persuaded my recalcitrant internet connection to work so I could watch the last half hour of the first football match of 2012 (and never mind that I missed the first 60 minutes).
Have a good evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all !
Ladyhawk - Hope you are ok ? there was a singer on tv this morning promoting her album she is called Ladyhawke is that what you have been up to !! send us a signed photo please, I will shove it on fleabay in a few years time
OT - are you OK??
5 for today
1. Day offalthough woke up at 4 .21am !
2. Was getting twitchy as I had not received renewal for breakdown cover reminder for Ostentatious German Vehicle (OGV) . Lo and behold got a letter saying that they had a technical issue and hadn't sent out renewal reminders so getting two months extra cover free until they sort it. As I am a cynical, suspicious mare called them to check it wasn't a scam - it wasn't and the OGV is still covered.
3.Made a curry from scratch as saw one being made on tv and knew that I had most of the stuff in the cupboards .Yum Yum ! so easy and no oil slicks that you get from ones in jars .
4. Picked and ate some strawberries from my garden .Tasted of sunshine
5.An afternoon snooze with a hot water bottle on my back - luxury !
Have a good weekend all!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Thank you so much for the congrats,:D I feel so lucky in this climate to have a choice, they are for 6 months but it is 6 months income, and very spoilt to have the choice, it will be hard getting back into commuting on lovely packed trains, but as I will be following the train to the end I should be able to get a seat on the way home. Which would be nice to tuck into a book.:)
1-5 are covered in the days escapades, and when I phoned and confirmed I would take a job of course:j, I did feel daftly bad for turning down the other role thou.:(
So we shut the door and windows last night to try and keep some of the gale out, switched off our phones and alarms and didn’t wake up until we were ready which was apparently midday or so, very luxurious.:o:o
.
We then pondered over to Orpington to do the charity shops, and picked up a T-shirt for DH £2, 10 metres of fabric and 16ft of unused zip for £2.25! (DH’s hobby is making and sewing things), and 2 animal toys, one is best described as imagine a fluorescent purple soft round thing about the size of a big hand, with a face on, it has florescent green legs and each time a leg is pulled or it’s knocked it goes boinnnnnng. So we bought this and in the bag it followed us round and each time anyone got to close it went booooiiiing :rotfl:and the other thing is a small fluffy bird that imitates bird sounds also 50p, the ferrets love them and by the sounds still going around the house they won’t last long.:rotfl:
The £1 shop was for Caustic soda, Baking soda and descaler, and then we found a fruit and veg stand which was amazing I literally have a bag full to the top of fruit and veg which cost me a grand total of £4 I am gob smacked and we got talking about why on earth would you buy from the supermarket, yes some of the stuff I have like peppers are great shapes but who cares.:cool:We stopped in at the cafe and had a full roast dinner and cuppa for £5 each which gives me the night off.;)
Things fell down a bit when we needed to get milk and bread, I wanted to stop at a corner shop, but DH likes decent bread, so we trotted off to Lidl, and £35 lighter we walked out – ops. Well we decided burgers and buns at 30% off had to be got and a few bits n pieces, and then DH spotted roof bars for the car – as you do when food shopping:)! The ones he’d looked at before we would have to wait and save for and there these were at £25 it was a lot less and now they are home he is a very happy chap as apparently reasonable quality thankfully.
A weekend of tidying at home ahead for me, hope everyone has a lovely weekend ahead.0
